Can I join too? Name is Serendipity and I'm Canadian. I'm also a mom to a little man who is 9. I work outside with horses all day so am pretty fit but want to get better cardio now that I've quit smoking. I'm really trying to eat clean so will see how that goes. Was going to join a gym but my son is almost too old for their babysitting services so my son suggested that we start jogging together. We went out today and bought us each a pair of spanking new runners and we're off to do a run/walk and see how it goes. I'm 5'7' and about 135 or so. I don't weigh myself ever and just go by my clothes. I'm currently at about a size 6 or so. Don't really want to lose much weight but some toning up would be good. lol I noticed being able to breathe way better already but hope to extend that and go big or go home. I vape sweets although I don't have a sweet tooth. I love salty things. Salted almonds are my snack of choice. Me bad.

30 minute walk/run here with my son egging me son. "Why are you going so slow?" Already noticed myself breathing better even after only 3 weeks of quitting smoking again. lol Came home and ate 'clean'. I had mashed blackbeans with spinach and a big salad. I'm not a big meat eater at the best of times so I have to find alternative ways to get protein. My biggest thing is breakfast. yuck. I have such a hard time eating in the morning. I'm going to try and do oatmeal tomorrow with fresh fruit and see how that goes.

Hi Serendipity :)

I have a hard time with breakfast too. Coffee is usually always my choice. I think I am going to try a piece of rye toast with maybe some peanut butter? Hmm not sure how that combo is going to taste. LOL I let ya know ;)

Love that this thread is blossoming! I see you've met Bridget :) Between her and a couple of others... It inspired me to get fit too.

I hear ya on the coffee...I have an espresso machine, old school machine, tassimo and a keurig. hahaha I love my coffee. Rye with peanut butter is nummy. Maybe I should steal that idea but of course, I'd have to buy some 'clean' rye bread. lol I just realized that I had a pedometer app on my new phone that I bought last week when I was looking for an app online 'for that'. lol On average each day, I'm pushing 14,000 steps a day. I've noticed that eating cleaner is making me feel more energetic but that could just be the not smoking too....

I don't. I have a stationary bike and an elliptical here at home. A few dumbells (not my hubby either ). I just can't see me paying for something that I probably wouldn't use as much as I would need to in order to justify the expense.

I do better with what I am doing here on the thread. State my goal and work like hell to beat that. ;)
Even keeping up with the others is quite the push I need.

Rickb talking about sugar reminded me.... did you know the average American consumes approximately 150 lbs of sugar every year? Our bodies were not designed for that. It's one of the main reasons why diabetes is at epidemic levels. It's a really hard habit to break too, our brains demand it once we've gotten used to it, like a drug.

But most of us here beat cigarettes, that's way harder.

I smoked for 40+ years Monkey..didn't think I could put them down. Had it not been for vaping,..I would still be smoking.
To think I started vaping because I was tired of wasting good money on cigs. Oh I haven't saved a dime since I started vaping,..but I have way more to show for what I've spent besides empty red packs and cigarette butts.

I smoked for almost 40 years myself. I only started vaping cause my sons bought me a e-cig for Father's day and I felt guilty if I didn't at least try it for them. Incredibly a month later I smoked my last cigarette .......

I don't vape anymore but I still praise vaping to the high heavens.
