morming everyone,

I don't put mind down either, but I was a chain smoker and I am a chain vaper. And thanks to the advice of all the people here I have had a great experience with this. Not only did Faceless do a great job on building it, but you all are awesome with helping people new to rebuildables.

For anyone looking for something different and interesting:

Try twisted wire. Basically 34 AWG Kanthal doubled over and twisted together is about the same resistance as 32 AWG Kanthal(what most people typically use). The advantage is the twisted wire holds some juice in the twists and the amount of vapor and flavor increase quite a bit. Its also MUCH easier to wrap a coil on a wick. The way the wire contacts the wick greatly reduces the number of shorts because it's twisted.

I twist my 34 with a drill or a dremel. Cut a long piece 3-4 feet and fold it in half. I clamp the cut ends to a bench and stick the other end in a dremel and set the dremel to the lowest speed. Pulse it like 3-4 times at the lowest speed and you get this:

That sounds really interesting Ezkill, will try that the next time I need to do a coil, as one thing I did already have is a dremel lol

34 twisted and regular 32 just kind of work out to the same ohms because when you twist a wire you literally halve it's resistance. Since 32 is just about half the resistance of 34 it works out like that.

I can't give you an exact resistance for 32, but it would be half of what you currently have if you wrap the same wrap. So that being said if you twist 32 and do double the wraps then you end up in the same place but with more wraps. I meter all my stuff and find I personally like around a 1.5-1.7 ohm coil which is a 3/4 wrap of either 32 OR twisted 34.

However, back to back, twisted 34 in my opinion vapes much better then the same wrap of 32. This is something that has been recommended by Nosmoker(guy that makes the Orion) for quite a while. I just had not tried it before this but I can certainly see why he recommends it.

So would 32awg kanthal be same as 30awg. Cause all I have is 32awg. And what resistance would that be exactly?

If you braid 32 I would say its similar or a bit hotter than using straight 30g.

Tried braided 32 and normal 30 and they're about the same. Waiting for 28g. Hoping I can avoid the whole braiding. Its just an extra step for me.

Resistance still depends on how much wire you use but when you twist the 32g you reduce the resistance per meter (so the same wire length will = lower resistance).

BTW that splash guard is ingenious. I need to figure a way to get it not to move around so much now.

Hye Ezkill! Can you compare the braided setup to 32g normal with the same number of wraps using a kick.

From my experience they vaped the same (using the approx same wattage after metering out the coils) but I am only 1 statistic.

I personally think the better flavor from the twisted wire is from the extra wraps you get on the wick.

Morning....and back to drinking coffee and vaping my face off :D

I still have this morning thing where I have to vape quite a bit not to think about cigarettes. It will probably fade in time I'm only 3 months in.

Take your time. I'm still not 100% over the cigs and I've been trying for a long time.
