Hye Ezkill! Can you compare the braided setup to 32g normal with the same number of wraps using a kick.

From my experience they vaped the same (using the approx same wattage after metering out the coils) but I am only 1 statistic.

I personally think the better flavor from the twisted wire is from the extra wraps you get on the wick.

Hmmmmm....I'll try it with a kick at some point later.

Un-kicked though I can easily tell the difference. 2 GGTS, 2 ZAG's, Same resistance, same battery, same juice, same number of wraps and I'll blind pick the twisted wire one each time as being better. It's just a more saturated and thicker vape. Way more vapor as well but I think that's a side effect.

Yes I "scientifically" test this kind of stuff all the time. I'm a bit of a nut :D

Of course taste is subjective but it's for sure more flavor/vapor and throat hit. I think it has to do with the extra juice that gets caught in the coils. I can actually see it sitting between the wire twists when I look at the coil. Not a lot but it's there.

The added benefit is out of 5 coils I wrapped yesterday with twisted wire I had one hotspot total. Total, not on each one. It greatly reduces the contact points with the wick so it seems easier to do a new coil. Much easier.

For anyone looking for something different and interesting:

Try twisted wire. Basically 34 AWG Kanthal doubled over and twisted together is about the same resistance as 32 AWG Kanthal(what most people typically use). The advantage is the twisted wire holds some juice in the twists and the amount of vapor and flavor increase quite a bit. Its also MUCH easier to wrap a coil on a wick. The way the wire contacts the wick greatly reduces the number of shorts because it's twisted.

I twist my 34 with a drill or a dremel. Cut a long piece 3-4 feet and fold it in half. I clamp the cut ends to a bench and stick the other end in a dremel and set the dremel to the lowest speed. Pulse it like 3-4 times at the lowest speed and you get this:

Good googily moogily! I tried it with 32g and it hits crazy hard and lots, I mean lots of vapor! I just used vise grips on both ends and held them up and started spinning in circles! Thanks for this!!

^^Good to know, I have a spool of 32AWG here

So, I have an iHybrid on the way to me. I can't wait to get it, been wanting a hybrid, and just like the looks and protective tank sleeve of the iHybrid over others out there. I've never made a wick or coil either, so I'll do a little noob review if you guys want when I get it up and running.

LOL well sure...you halved your resistance. It will hit like a freight train, you're probably ohm'ing around .8-.9 ohms on a 3/4 wrap of 32 AWG.

If you find it too hot just add more coils and you will still have fairly low resistance and get even more vapor but not quite as vicious.

How were you getting the same resistance with the non braided and braided with the same wraps of coils?

I always need at least 2-3 more wraps with braided to meter about the same.

Off to try braided again. Maybe I was braiding them too tight.

34 AWG Braided = 32 AWG unbraided.

You basically halve the resistance when you braid and 32 is about half of 34.

Ahhh gotcha.

Only got 32 and 30 to work with but for me I can't the difference between 32 braided vs 30. Maybe I'm not braiding it right. Will try your way tomorrow.

Everyone here has been really great with tips and tricks for doing wicks and coils.

Awesome thanks for the info Ez :) This is exactly the info I needed that night. Going to try some 33 twisted tonight. Maybe 4 -5 wraps you think?

I guess I just don't get the braiding and twisting thing. I can make a fine coil that maximize battery life and gives me a consistent vape throughout the battery's life with 4-5 wraps of kanthal 32. All of my problems appear when I "over-fiddle". But then, I drive a Prius. LOL

LOL but aren't car Hybrids more complicated than traditional cars?

Just poking fun at ya grruss!

Off-topic but can somebody PM me side button Genesis options? The missus refuses to use the iHy saying it hurts her fingers. Need an option with a side button that's readily available.

Keyword being readily available.

Thanks!
