Well did as suggested tight at the bottom of the coil not touching the base, made sure wick was closer to the post but not touching ,went through another 6 coils feel getting a hot spot and pop the coil between positive screw and wick.
This is really frustrating ready to throw this thing out the window
It's your wick, it's always the wick.
You've either scraped it going through the wick hole and it's shorting there or it's dented or not oxidized enough.
You can stop like 90% of coil pops by not using a fresh battery for breaking in a new coil and firing very very quickly. If you have the top hotspot you can see it on a very quick fire. The weaker battery will keep it from popping instantly. At that point make some adjustments and try to fire it quickly again.
If you're really out of your mind grab one of the crappy bic pens. Cut off the top ink tube part that doesn't have ink and shove that through the hole in your tank. Then roll a thinner wick and put it through this insulator. You'll probably get it on the first coil.
