Thanks to all who gave advice on my quest. Maybe I'll go to the B & Ms in my area (I think there are two). It would really be helpful if I could actually SEE any of this stuff in person and get a feel for what's involved. I didn't understand that a carto needs a tank, for example...which makes me realize that I have no idea what is is. Since I only know one person who vapes, and he is at the same level as me, I'm on my own. I'll also take a look at the Aspire.
I've spent so much already that I will stay with the itaste for now and work with figuring the best toppers for it.
Best theing I've learned this week? Snapple Diet Iced Tea with Peach is great for Dead Tongue!

Penny, as Storm said, you can just use a simple karto set up. Tanking it provides you with a constants liquid intake system, but you can also use it alone, and just top it off as it begins to use up the vliquid. Carrying around several filled kartos with different flavors is a really small and easy way to change up your vape on demand. And the addition of a sample bottle of extra liquid if needed for topping off also takes up little space. I'm all about the real estate aspect of vaping as I carry a tiny purse.

I think your idea of hitting a B & M is wonderful, by the way. Let us know how that goes!

It's true that seeing these things in person helps a great deal; they all seem to look a lot larger in pics than they really are. The only pics that give any idea of true size are the ones with a device in someone's hand -- but if it's a man's hand, even that can be confusing, since most men do have much larger hands than women.

Penny, the plain-carto thing works great, and it really is a LOT easier to deal with than fiddling around with tanks and coils -- that's why I like it first thing in the morning, when I really need that nic but not awake enough to deal with, 'why am I getting a dry hit?' 'why does this coil taste burned?' and etc. And what Kat said about taking pre-filled cartos with you when you go out also strikes me as one of those "yes! why didn't I think of that!" brilliant ideas -- being out somewhere and your coil starts to flake out on you is not fun!

So, since I do find the cartos so much easier to deal with, I think the logical next step for me is the carto-tank. Of course I do have several BCC's now so I guess I really ought to learn how to rebuild them, just so I don't get stuck sometime without cartos and only burnt coils for the BCC's.

Speaking of which, VAPEMAIL! My new MT3S and a 5pk of coils just got here! Wheee!!

So, apparently DiscountVapers really is *all that*. :D Just ordered it Thursday, regular 1st class mail.

Ok, so to you and Kat,could you give me, the specific simplest of these carto-type-things I could try? The one originally presented to me would've been way expensive, and I'd rather see what the whole carto thing is all about without spending a ton.

Ok, this is the best price I've seen on regular, standard-resistance cartos: 510 Standard Cartomizers -- just $4.25 for a 5-pk, best price I've seen ANYWHERE!

And you'll need a drip tip for those, and this place, Desert Vapes, also has great prices on those: Drip Tips -- that link shows all their drip tips, but I'm particularly fond of these glass ones: 510 Style Glass Drip Tip -- just $1.95! I've paid a lot more than that for a plastic driptip!

Hope that helps -- those folks at Desert Vapes are great, and so are their prices.

Penny, Andria's suggestions are really good. I would only add that I would opt for the stainless steel rather than the black, or better, a box of each, and here is my reasoning. The black are often nice looking, depending of course on your device and color schemes and all that. The stainless tho, would be a better option if you ever decide you'd like to punch a hole in them and thereby make them usable for a tank (thinking ahead...down the line). Karto punches are relatively inexpen$ive and you might enjoy it. (otherwise, there's a ton of places that carry pre-punched kartos) The black have a sticker on them and don't get punched, nor would they fit well in a tank.

Andria, I have one of those glass drip tips (in purple) that was gifted to me by my dearest friend, and I love it. It does tend to show condensation quickly but a quick rinse fixes that. They are nice for the price!!

Another great site for kartos (and prolly mentioned a thousand times in this thread alone) is surevapes who has multi pack deals, but it appears for right now, Desert Vapes is a better bet.

Yeah, pretty much, though I probably won't throw them away until they start tasting burned -- could be less, could be a lot more. I rarely ever let them get completely empty, but keep a little needle-top bottle here at my desk and add a few drops every so often, just so they dont get dry -- I think that might help them last longer. Obviously that's the real benefit of the carto-tanks, you don't have to refill nearly as often; they usually hold 3-5 or even 6ml.

Someone said, I think, that on the whole, most cartos last *roughly* maybe 2 weeks or so; thicker, VG-based e-juice, maybe a bit less; thinner, PG-based ejuice, maybe a bit more. Also I think the voltage you use with them might have something to do with their longevity; I tend to set my voltage pretty high, to give a good throat hit, though I find with cartos I don't need to set it nearly as high. But I think that using higher voltage/wattage settings probably would use them up a little faster.

The friend who first sent me a carto also gave me this link -- A PBusardo Tutorial : Filling Boge 510 Cartomizers - YouTube -- which is Mr Busardo demonstrating a really easy way to fill them the first time, using one of the little "condom" rubber caps that come on them. It works really well; also remember to blow through the threaded end, after filling, to make sure the center tube doesn't have liquid, or you'll get that icky gurgle. Other than that, they're really easy!

THANK YOU!!!! I guess, then, it's almost like dripping, but more juice. I like very much, and I'm going to place the order now. Fun fun fun and very appreciative for all the help. If you ever need to anything about sewing I can repay the favor lol; that's my niche! And now the things I make for my sister and my daughters will never smell smokey again!!

Yeah it really does seem to me like a compromise between dripping and tanks; more juice "stored" than a dripper, but a lot less than a tank, though with the carto-tanks, you get that benefit plus the ease of the cartos! That's why I think I really do need to head in that direction. Yeah I'm learning a lot about care and maintenance of these bottom-coil thingies, but it's still a pain; much less hassle, using the cartos, and once I can get some carto-tanks, probably even less hassle, not having to refill so often.

"Carto => NON"...it's the ol "510 well on VV3 (and MVP2) too deep" thing. Just look at the bottom of the carto. You'll see what looks like a "slot" in it. Take a small screwdriver...put it in the "slot"...rotate 1/4 a turn to the left. If still reads NON...try another 1/4 turn. Get another reading, etc. (The most I've had to turn a carto to get it to work was 3 1/4 turns.)"

Wow, I'd never thought of that. I assumed it was part of the electrical and shouldn't be disturbed in that way. What I've done that worked well is to put a thin Pin in those two side holes in the threads and scrape/ wedge the Post outwards. Gets the post to stick out real nice.

I've since learned to barely tighten any kind of toppers onto my battery and haven't had a "NON" in quite awhile now.

    Happy vaping:)

Mainly because now I HAVE a Virginia Slim on a battery... LOL! Seriously, this Virginia e-juice is what Virginia Slims WANTS to be! :thumb:

We had to go out to a few stores earlier, so naturally, in the parking lots, I got to smell some cigarette smoke... UCK! As we passed one car-sitter, puffing away, I go "God that cigarette smoke STINKS!" and my husband laughed like a madman, and said "I'm so glad you think so!"

    30 days!!! WOOHOO!!! Who'd a thunk it?!?!?!? ME, a non-smoker!!! MIRACLES REALLY DO HAPPEN!!! :D :D :D

Actually I was going to do exactly that, get a pk of each, but they were out of the stainless in the std resistance, so I just got the one pk. Figured I'd try out the carto thing for while with the standards, since I liked the LR one but found it too hot. I've been doing my usual deal-prowling, and Discount Vapers has a 510 DCT 5ml tank, for $2.99 -- he says it's in the bargain bin because he doesn't stock the cartos for it anymore, but it will take smoktech XL cartos, and those seem easy to find. I'm all over that, PDQ. also from that place in HK, e5cigs, they have a 3ml one for $1.80; I may order that one too, and they have INSANE prices on cartos. But of course the long wait from HK, so I'm going to go ahead and get that one at discount Vapers ASAP.

Those glass tips do show condensation immediately, and here at the desk I just keep a very tightly rolled piece of paper towel and swab it out every so often, but I do that somewhat with all the tips, to prevent the ick factor. But that visible condensation is probably an excellent reason for going ahead and popping the $5.99 or whatever for those stone/jade/ceramic ones, so you don't see all that. But I was thinking of getting some of the other colors of the glass ones, so I can tell my cartos apart without having to scribble on 'em with a sharpie. :D

(searching google madly for surevapes -- deal-prowling mode ON!) :D

Lots of free time... which means lots of time I would want a cigarette, many cigarettes, so I MUST do something else! Haven't done any actual template design since mid-January, but what the hey, I don't make anything at that anyway, so I might as well do something *useful* like quit smoking. :D
