I meant to add... we went out earlier for a couple of grocery items, but also to get a 5/64 drill bit from Home Depot -- and they not only don't have kanthal wire, but apparently don't even know what it is. So, that wire is now the only thing I need to get, to be able to try my hand at the coil rebuilding. Steam Cigs does that workshop every Thurs night, and I was talking to some of their "regulars" in the Georgia Vapors thread, and also at the georgiavapers forum, and I'm going to try and get up there Thursday night, providing I can get the wire fast enough from Amazon. If not, I'll go the next week. I think hands-on with in-person guidance would be a great deal more helpful to me, than the videos. I've never done anything even remotely like this, so it's all new to me -- to me, electrical stuff means flipping a switch or plugging something in.
But I also hate the idea of being dependant on something that I don't know how it works, or how to fix it if it breaks -- which is why I'll undoubtedly get a mech eventually, but not yet, it's a bit too far around the learning curve for me, just yet.
