I know you said you couldn't do video right now but if you do get the opportunity to watch one, this is where I learned to make my coils. It was a major help.

Nevermind. This is for a PT II Mini, which is similar, but not exactly the same in how it looks, as the T3S. Also it's for a micro coil, and apparently you need a torch to do something to the wire, to make one of those. I don't have a torch, and doubtful I'm going to be able to afford a specialty tool like that just to rebuild some coils, so I'm not making micro coils.

They all look pretty micro to me.

Do you have a pin vise or precision screwdriver set? If so you can make a tensioned micro coil, which you don't need to torch.

I'll be using a Kanger Pro Tank coil, but is the exact same process.

No vise of any kind. I don't know what a precision screwdriver *is*, so it's doubtful I have any. A screwdriver is pretty much a screwdriver to me, some are bigger some are smaller, some are straight and some are phillips.

It seems to me that you need at least 4 hands to do this. 1 to hold the "body", 1 to hold the coil, 1 to hold the wire that somehow mysteriously must fit between the rubber and the pin, and then the 4th hand to hold that rubber thingie.

We do have some tiny screwdrivers, my husband uses them to repair my glasses. As for a drill bit, I bought a 5/64 drill bit at home depot, because the one my husband has in that slot in the box, he said he's not sure it truly is 5/64, he thinks it might be an extra of another size, and it does look fatter than the 5/64 we bought.

Woo hoo, my $$$ saved just went over $200. I know I've spent more than that on vaping. :D

Just got some troubling news from my folks. Neither of them is in good health; my stepdad has had 2 strokes, and is very shaky on his pins. he's also had 2 hip replacements. My mom has diabetes and cirrhosis, 2 hip replacements and arthritic knees, and doesn't get out of a wheelchair very often. My stepdad just came in from the store, and something is wrong with his back, he's in terrible pain, so my mom has called 911 and her sister, who called us. 911 is coming to get my stepdad, and their neighbors are with my mom, while my aunt and my husband each make their way to where she lives, which is about 30 miles NW of us; the aunt is about 12 miles further out. Rush hour is probably only just now beginning to subside, so it will take even my husband -- speed demon when he wants to be -- at least an hour to get there. I figured my husband would be more useful tonight, to perhaps help with moving my mom in and out of cars, etc, and I'll go up there tomorrow, to sit with my mom at the hospital, or to be the legs at their house, depending on whether the stepdad gets admitted.

*sigh*

Old age is really awful to some people.

Wish both of your folks all the best and as speedy a recovery as possible!

Took me 3 months to have finally saved more than I spent in vaping. Had 1.5 months in the positive and now am even more in the negative than I was after my initial start up costs.

Will take me 3 more months of not spending to catch back up.

Well my husband isn't begrudging a penny; he says that not having to smell and choke on smoke is "priceless." He told me that he never expected me to quit, but always kinda hoped I might one day, but knew he'd have to go thru hell with me, if I did. So this vaping thing makes things easier for him, too. :thumb:

So I just got home from work. Going to get started and I'll try to build it with as similar supplies as I can to what you're working with. To be fair, a 5/64 drill bit doesn't quite fit in the slots on the base. 1.8 mm or 0.7 inches is the max that can fit to the bottom of the slots and will avoid the risk of shorting. 1/16 inch bit will fit just fine as well.

I will be using a 1.8mm bit.

As far as a torch, I just use one of those cheap butane cigar lighters. Doesn't get nearly hot enough, but does the trick when needed. Cost 5 bucks.

More Posts coming soon.

I swear... today I hear that the wire's not right, after I already bought it -- because someone told me that 30ga was right.

Now, after buying a 5/64 bit because someone told me that was the right one, I hear it's not really right.

I give up. Everything I buy because someone told me it's right, turns out not to be right. I haven't won the lottery!!! :-x

5/64 works for all rebuilding even Kanger, but not as well as 1/16 in Kangers. 30 is ideal for Kangers. I was just trying 29 for giggles.

Andria,
PM me your address, you are stressing too much. I have some pre-made coils I got from FastTech that I am not using at the moment, (I've gone to cartos), I'll send them to you for free, just cost me a stamp, if you want them. No wraping, just install them. They are 2.0Ω to 2.4Ω pre-made coils.

If that's the case, I'll show you how to install the coil. Very easy.

Alright.....so I have a question. How easy is it to blow the device? I think I shorted mine out using an eternity with a 1.29 Ω coil. In fact, I think I may have shorted the innokin, and three other ego twist batteries.

What on earth did I do wrong????

1.5 ohms is the lowest that should be operated on the vv v3 and any other ego type battery.

Here's what I got so far:

Everything all laid out.

symyna5u.jpg

You'll see 2 long legs.

bybe3ere.jpg

Feed both legs thru the center hole

I took the shorter lead and pulled it tight to maintain tension and lightly wrapped it around the bit.

yzuseqyp.jpg

egyhu3yv.jpg

Take the other lead and put it thru the grommet.

sebahyhe.jpg

Then I pull for tension and lightly wrap on the other side of the bit. Then I slide the metal post in.

zy4atava.jpg

Trim the leads either with a cuticle trimmer or from pull and twist method (haven't mastered this method).

Put the base in the pt2 mini and test.

ne7abu7u.jpg

Will do some dry fires to push the coil together with tweezers as needed. Then pull some cotton thru, drip a little on the cotton and attach chimney and fill tank.

Pretty basic run down.

I appreciate that, but it's really not the wrapping that troubles me, I figure I can do that much, just 11 times around a drill bit. It's getting it installed into that itty bitty little piece of metal that's really troubling me, how to get a wire between the pin and that rubber thingie. I have no earthly idea how that's possible. It would probably help if I could see it better, but I can't afford to get some better readers till at least the weekend.

Thx,
Andria

Andria, if you have a Dollar Store or such nearby, I got a set of 8 small screwdrivers in various sizes including 1/16, 3/32, & 5/64 for $1. They are easier for me with my old hands than a drill bit. Just a thought.. Wishing well for your parents. Yea, getting old sucks... be strong for them, everyone here will help with this stuff.

Ok, somehow I did manage to get the rubber thing back in.

Umm..I thought if you touched the wire with anything metal it would short?

I did somehow manage to get 11 wraps around a 5/64 bit, but it's much too wide to fit in that tiny chunk of metal. Might have to go down to 8 or 9 wraps, but I have no idea what kind of resistance that would yield.

My mind is also quite boggled at the idea of somehow getting a piece of yarn thru such a tiny space as the interior of that coil.

Andria

PS: How does your coil stay tight like that? Mine spreads out the minute I let go of it. I really wish I did have a vise, so I could let it stay like that overnight.
