I didn't like the plastic parts on the Iatty. I don't want to poke at the iatty mind you, I think it was genius, the Ody is just more so. I also didn't like the small ceramic cup, it was too small and I could never wind a HV coil for it. Lastly, I don't know if Imeo ever made SS Iatty's but I've owned 2 and they were both aluminium and being a soft metal, could or would eventually wear. The Ody is 303 or 304 SS which is practically indestructible.
I'm sure some will pounce on me for this but like I said, I wasn't dissing the Iatty, just the the Ody is pure genius

Mine is SS........

Rick, good thought. I never knew it but I guess some people are allergic to Cocobolo. It's such beautiful wood.

Maybe I'll stick to just Ebony from now on. A few years ago I bought a really nice hunk of instrument quality Ebony on the net. I made a bunch of .... plates with it since it checkers beautifully. This is it here. The grain has a golden quality to it that comes out in the sunlight.

You can gain an allergy to ebony too. The interesting thing about the cocobolo allergy (and wood allergies in general) is it's only the dust, and generally the person who is making it that has to worry about it. People aren't allergic to the objects, I can still enjoy a cocobolo piece, I just can't work with it (short of a hazmat suit) the last time I turned it, I only exposed myself to a small piece that I turned round (it was for a PV) and boy was that a mistake. That was only the second time I had worked with it. I've got a HUGE hunk of Macassar ebony, but it shares some of the same allergens as cocobolo (gaboon ebony does not) so I am afraid to turn it. I had to have steroid injections, oral steroids, and about 2 months to heal. It gave me a wicked case of contact dermatitis!!! (thank God I was wearing a respirator, I'd probably be dead if I hadn't have been)

So you don't have to worry about someone being allergic to the tip ;) though some woods, if left unfinished (some folks can develop contact dermatitis, Wenge is a good example of that) if you're finishing them with something, then you have nothing to worry about :)

All iAtty's were made out of SS, just like the Odysseus. just clarifying. None were ever made out of aluminum.
