Ok hello everyone. I've had a lot of people ask about this now, and just got an email request about it, so I'm going to post this here and I can just reference it if I need to. :D

First off, I just celebrated my 2 year anniversary of being smoke-free due to being on e-cigs as of a few days ago. My first e-cig was an njoy NCig which is a Pen Style or like an 801 model. I purchased it from a smoke shop that had a large sign out front 'Electronic Cigarettes Sold Here!'. I didn't plan on buying one, but the owner had a sample out for people to try - it seemed pretty cool, I did a lot of traveling and stayed in a lot of hotels down south that had no smoking in the entire hotel so I bought one. After a week or two - or so I don't remember - I've never gone back.

Also - there is the legendary atty. I've only recently come to this forum a few weeks ago because I was searching for alternatives (if any) to my NJoy out of curiosity because my atty had finally died.

That's right - I had done nothing but purchased cartridges from that little smoke shop, or ordered online from NJoy for nearly 2 years, using the same 2 batteries and atomizer. I contacted a supplier I found here on the forums, and he actually helped me get it working again for another week or so before it finally gave up the ghost. Thank you to Drew at NHaler!! (shameless plug - he deserves it)

I had never even heard of purchasing your own juice and refilling your own carts or knew thre were so many different models until a few weeks ago - so there you have it. My story on e-cigs :)

Oh yes, and after about 6 months on e-cigs my seizures completely stopped (I have epilepsy). Even though I had medication that helped me considerably, I still had the occasional seizure. When they stopped my Neurologist told me that 'I told you so' due to smoking had a lot of chemicals in it that was conflicting with my meds. Even though he also smoked :) However he was interested in it, and now we both vape away in the patient room when I go for checkups! lol shoot the breeze for a while, do the checkup and I go on my way.

Take care all, and I hope that helps shed some light on Haplo's mystery atty and such. If you have questions or what not please feel free to PM me.

- Hap

I'm at nearly three months with my first 510 atomizer.
And it was being used exclusively until about a week ago.

I consider myself stocked up for at least four years on atomizers and batteries.
If I get two years out of them, then I will actually be stocked up for 60 years!!

Edit: And for those wondering, no, I am not a heavy vapor.
Edit: I use this thing for just over an hour per day on average.

I think a lot of this atty's apparent immortality has to be looked at from a usage standpoint. He was using pre-filled carts exclusively. This means no topping or dripping, so this should show all of us here the possible negative effects of too much juice in our atty's...

I seriously doubt that there are many vapers on this forum that use pre-filled carts exclusively!!

You know... I never have said it out of respect for everyone here at ECF (who I have grown to respect in fact), but I have often wondered this myself. I am sure it is still a bit of a freak atty, but I do think perhaps never using anything but carts - and I'm sure I probably don't vape as heavy as some people do, etc. also contributed to it's long life. I think I am going to make a little glass frame box for it :D lol

Take care,
- Hap

That's funny. Let me ask you this.... did you ever clean it?? And if so how?

Thanks.

Ah yes I forgot to include that in original post I meant to... no I never did clean it or do anything special to it. I did a few times on occasion take the atty and the battery and twist them on my shirt - tail to rub off the connectors just because they were looking a little on the grungy side and were a little moist from just vaping and was a good time to do it. Wiped off no problems, and really I can't remember doing this more than 4 or 5 times ever. (Edit: I don't believe the grunge was from use, I think it was more from having it broken down in a pocket or my travel bag - and I'm a field tech that gets pretty grungy working on POS systems - so mostly tarnish and grit basically.)

I also did blow it out one time from the battery end because it was gurgling a little - I got a pack of carts that were especially juicy and the gurgling kinda worried me so I tried blowing it out just to see. Nothing much came out so I wrote it off and just kept using it no problems.

I will say this though - it just kept getting better over time until the last few weeks of its life. More and more vapor - and smoother taste from the carts. Then it started tapering off until it died.

Take care,
- Hap

Thanks Hap. That's worth 'archiving' just as an instance for the 'no clean crowd'. I'm leaning that way... I still use some 151 but the length of time in it is shortening and the length of time between cleanings is getting longer.

cleaning with pure alcohol help to get rid of flavor and that s ok, but boiling or blowing with compresse air shorten atmys life,.
Why do you feel that way?

As far as I'm concerned, having read the atomizer cleaning threads, cleaning makes sense.
I haven't heard any logical reason why cleaning would NOT make sense.

I'm always open to new informration though.

I bought my first Ecig in march and cleaned the atty once a week lost 2 or 3 that way within 2months time. Now I only clean them when they taste foul and the atty's are lasting months at a time. Cleaning them regularly shortens the life some how. Just my experience. Also I think the built in cleaning cycle messes them up quicker too esp if you switch out batts often and hit couple cycles in a row. I use a battery mod now and am very glad to never experience another cleaning cycle again!!!

My theory on this is that you're drying out your atty. The cleaning methods I've seen all result in the same thing in the end - a bone-dry atty.

Before I even started I read a thread by a poster here (and no, I can't find it, but I think it was KreeL) about why cleaning was bad. Blowing juice out when you flood it is good, but putting it through the clean->dry->reprime cycle many times just wears out the atty. It made sense, so I'm now a card-carrying member of the No Cleaning Party. :)

I think an expert should take that atty apart to study and measure and find out whatever it was that could have made the difference.

I don't think there is anything to look at - I literally just purchased a yellow box retail packaged NJoy NCig from a little smoke shop. I'm sure that 801 style attys may have changed over time - I've heard recent discussions about 'high bridge' and 'low bridge' ones which I have no idea which mine was... I know it had what looked like a sort of flat metal guard over the top of a portion of the wicking material rather than any sort of peak, so I would assume low bridge?

So point being I can't imagine it is any different than any other NJoy pen style from that same time frame.

Since others have brought it up - I will also agree again that I think a lot of short atty life has to do with 'over cleaning' and drying out too often. All I did was use factory carts, I always had plenty of them, and I never soaked or cleaned my atomizer internally.

I also have a 4081 from SE. The first atty wasn't right and died in 2 or 3 days. I got a replacement - and it works awesome. I guess it has been almost a month now? a few weeks anyway of flawless use, and no cleaning. Just a blow out here and there since I do now try dripping and I mess up sometimes :p

But hey, it's just my opinion and what works for me.

Take care,
- Hap
