The other thread inspired this, admittedly, but I'm not going to use this as a means to couch a "is this specific device worth it question".

I want this to be fun. :)

Here's the hypothetical situation:

You are going to be on a deserted island. Food/shelter/clothing has already been resolved. But, you are going to have to supply your own vape. You don't get to just bring anything you already have.

You have a $500 budget, and it has to cover EVRERYTHING you need for vaping for a year (juice/tank/battery/etc). There is no electricity available on this island. You will have no means to call anyone/web access for that year, so you will not be able to order new stuff or take advantage of warranties in that time frame.

What is the vape kit you would bring? :)

First I'd blow ~$200 on not one, but two solar rechargers. Then I'd pick up two of these for $25. For batteries I'd go with six simple eGo batteries for about $150 that I can recharge using the solar panel's USB output. Nicotine? 1000ml of 36mg solution for $60. That leaves about $65 in my budget which should easily cover a liter of USP grade VG, 100ft of Kanthal, 25ft of silica wick, glassware for mixing, and some flavorings.

With this setup, I'd wager I could make it two years.

Somebody has to make the liquid and coils while I fish.

A couple solar cell phone chargers from Amazon for 20 bucks, a couple tanks, a couple itaste vv's, some coils, yarn/cotton balls/ and wire. And either sink the rest of the cash into plain nic or some diy flavors, just a couple.
Bury the juice in the sand so it doesn't get hot and spoil, two or three feet near the water should keep it cool.
Then sit back and enjoy the year of no people......

I would take one 10ml bottle of liquid and one ego battery. Before I could run the battery down some politician would show up and declare it illegal to vape in public on a deserted island because some "child" could possibly become shipwrecked on my deserted island. Before he departed he would execute an executive order stating that possession of vaping paraphernalia was declared illegal. Within hours after that a LEO would show up and seize my ego and liquid, however, he would leave me with a carton of cigarettes since they are the only "Safe Alternative" approved for viewing by children. I would thank him that he didn't also take my cigarettes away.

2 toppers: $15.00 Kayfun Lite Style Rebuildable Electronic Cigarette Atomizer-Silver(4.5mL) $30.00/2 (I have 3, don't let the price fool you, they KICK ....!)
2 MVP 2.0 http://www.fairy-gift.com/itase-mvp-v20-p-58.html $80.00/2 but I know if you shop around you can find them cheaper.
Bag of cotton:http://www.walmart.com/ip/White-Cloud-Jumbo-Size-Cotton-Balls-400-count/23788426?action=product_interest&action_type=title&placement_id=irs_top&strategy=PWVAV&visitor_id=71692374254&category=0%3A-200%3A626240%3A1078264&client_guid=e318d612-1121-4113-9f45-9c269fe2653c&config_id=2&parent_item_id=10452033&guid=c904da9a-3b6f-41cd-82c8-1b0851ee0c4b&bucket_id=irsbucket011&findingMethod=p13n $3.68
50' of wire and some misc screws/o-rings/small Phillips screw driver......eh, maybe $30 tops?
Subtotal of about $205.00 +/-

The $295 left spent on 100mg nic extract ($15.99/120ml, Wizard Labs), PG (1 gal, $42.95, Wizard Labs) and VG (1 gal, $39.99). Some empty containers to cut the nic down to 12mg-15mg. And a year's worth of Hulu Plus so I could watch TV on a laptop ($96.00)<solar charger, why not?
And............vodka or 99% alcohol:laugh:

Flavorings, don't know if I'd want to get into that with all that sand around.

I'm going to assume that "sunscreen" is provided, or I'm gonna have to re-formulate!

Now, if someone has a way to bring a Provari with them, I'm all ears! Just didn't spend a lot of time looking at solar chargers!

Not ONE of you mentioned a BATTERY charger, or figured it into your expenses. Solar charger, yes, but not BATTERY charger. You have all died of dysentery.

EDIT: The USB charging battery folks lived. All mechanical/PV users died.

:) eGo batteries are not my first choice for day to day living. But in the context of the challenge, I chose them because of the USB charging capability of the solar charger. Glad you noticed!
