All this gloating -- doesn't anybody feel even a little bit bad that you're not paying into the Master Settlement anymore, and your state legislature is going to have less of that ill-gotten gain to spend? What about the 60-cent per pack federal tax to buy health insurance for not-quite-poor kids (SCHIP)? And the tobacco companies that raised prices way above the tax increase because, well, because they could? Did you even bother to let any of those greedy bullies know that none of your money was ever coming their way again?

There are other, more intangible things, too. What about the righteous self-satisfaction of people who could lecture you about your personal choices and imply that you were not only going to get lung cancer but you deserved to get lung cancer? Maybe we should just pause and consider how we're damaging the self-regard of people who need some outcast group to be contemptuous of.

I'm just sayin'...
:p
any amount of pain that can be caused to the above mentioned organizations is fine by me. i have paid more than my fair share in sin taxes. do i feel bad for the local gas stations that took a 600 dollar chunk out of my paycheck every month. i cry myself to sleep at night to think of all the suffering i am causing them.

Being able to go on a long bike ride without running out of breath. And being able to take a quick break for a couple hits from the PV without having to smoke a whole cigarette which, in turn, takes my breath away for the next few miles.

Not having those damn impossible to remove stripes of tar stain down the side of my white clothes hanging in the closet.

Being able to go for job interviews without worrying about leaving a negative smoker smell impression.

Having the energy to perform my current job all day.

No more smoke and hot ashes flying in my eyes while driving.

Having friends and family proud of me, especially those who actually know how tough the habit is to quit.

Knowing that I am no longer harming my defenseless pets with second hand smoke.

The list goes on....

When I did smoke, I never did it indoors, since my wife has always been a non-smoker. So I used to go outside and sit on the back patio to smoke. Since I started vaping, I haven't been on the back deck even once a month, for any reason. That will change, when warm weather arrives, I'm sure.
I won't miss bundling up in a coat and sometime gloves to have my morning smoke(s)...and having my coffee get cold on me as I chain smoked

No longer am I chained to a habit. I keep a device with me everywhere I go, and there is a different device in every room of my house. However, if I forget to grab my vape before leaving I'm not freaking out!

I don't have to smoke before or after everything I do!

I no longer have to cram 3 cigarettes in the drive to work and don't have to choice between a cigarette break or a meal on break at work either.

The one bad thing is though the store by my house requires you to spend at least 5 dollars if using a debit or credit card. So now I have to make sure to have a little cash. One pack of smokes would have took care of that limit!
that little rule is costing merchants thousands in sales. i used to be such a trained consumer when i smoked. the cigs, something to drink, junk food, now that i have to worry about 60 cents fee?, i stick to gas purchases only in the local stops where i live. no more cigs = less craving for junk food, sugar drinks, candy. the first few weeks i stopped smoking my stomach was a bottomless pit. that has all but stopped. i train myself to eat 2 times a day, smaller servings than i am used to, and no sweet stuff. with the additional cardio work i am doing now, actually losing my gut, and weight, at this rate i will weigh 145 pounds within a month. that was my consistent weight until the age of 45. bonus that i don't need to smoke to manage my weight anymore.

I've only been at it for a bit,but not waking up in the morning and coughing up a chunk of lung is nice. Not having to hear myself wheeze as I go to sleep is good as well. And with my tastebuds coming back, I have cut my sodium intake in half. No need to salt food just to taste it anymore. I am thinking that for every one thing I see or feel improved, there are 5 more things going on that have improved that I cant see or feel. Yay us!:toast:

Smoke breaks while hiking. That is really the only time I can really tell how much oxygen I'm getting. I'll almost immediately get tired and have a really hard time breathing. I can't wait to start hiking when we get more reliable sunny weather over here. I might even be able to vape WHILE hiking. :D
