FYI - you can travel free to Catalina Island on your birthday. So, if you plan it on your birthday, you can get one fare free, with another paid adult fare.

When we were there, we missed DH's by only a few days, but we didn't know it ahead of time, so not a thing we could've done about it.

I didn't know they did that for our birthdays. That's pretty cool. I haven't been to Catalina since high school. I miss a lot of things about California. Guess that can be another vacation. DW has been wanting to go and visit there. Me, I spent a total of 30 years there. There's also something like 20 states that I haven't been to yet. Lots of places to see!

Yea, I thought that was really cool that they do that.
There were a few going for their birthdays when we took the ferry. That was my first high speed ferry too.

I haven't been to a lot of states either.

Growing up, my parents owned their own business (a flower shop), and had a really hard time getting away. Vacations were camping within 30 miles of home.
I remember one solitary vacation we went to...Opryland. I was 13. That was a camping trip too.
I also remember we went to Silver Dollar City, so there must have been one other one.
But they were never long ones.

Most anything red is miserable to photograph.
Years ago when I made jewelry, I rarely even used red because of that.

Good evening lurkers

We've talked about going to the FL Keys for YEARS...years.
We've not ever taken what I'd call a big vacation...until this one.
The other cruise we'd gone on 11 years ago, was a prize, so our only expenses were what we wanted to spend.
Other trips have just been a couple days here or there.

I'm excited for you!! You're going to have a great vacation.

I see you all aren't an every year vacation taker. I guess Saturday was a mini vacation going to the museum. DW really wants to go to the beach. Guess I'll have to break down and spend a weekend at the beach. We have beaches just 3 hours from us, but I haven't been there in all the years here in Texas, so maybe it's time. I used to go all the time when I lived in California. I never went to the keys in all my years living in Florida neither. Daytona, yes, but that's about it. Guess a beach trip will be in the cards. Might get good rates now as it's hurricane season[emoji1]

Well the day didn't get any worse than the power outages...at least work wasn't bad, especially considering I was out last week...but my coworker did a good job of checking things and keeping me updated (I did have to make a few calls from vacation last week for the job because well, some of our clients are just idiots and my poor coworker had no idea how to handle them.)

Even went to Wally World after work and it wasn't bad either...got in and out pretty quick...now sitting back with my adult beverage waiting on my son to get back with dinner.
