I too just received my Mac Mini an I'm facing the same problem as you. The button gets stuck sometimes and there're "sparks" when I fire it. During this time, I experience a voltage loss. I can even hear faint buzzing sounds when the sparks are generated.

I've taken a video of it but it takes too long to upload from my phone. I've cut short the video.
Mac, is this normal on the button?

Problem with Mac button - YouTube

I fixed the issue with the shorting. If this is not resolved the hard short may cause the batt to fail. The negative screw was touching the positive center post under the top cap. This created arcing at the switch when the circuit was completed. The arc would spot weld the button to the end cap, causing it to freeze in place. After inspecting the button it had tiny “spots” all over from the point of contact.

I took a small piece of paper, (post-it note) and tried to slide the paper between the two posts. The paper would not slide between the two. After finding the contact point I manipulated the center post by loosening the hex screw at the top and turning the flat head screw located at the bottom of the tank. After turning the center post I saw the “spot” were the two posts were arcing. Continually testing with the paper to make sure there was not any contact between the two posts. I eventually found the position that the paper would slide through between both negative hex screws and the center positive post.

That's hard to visualize...
Would you be able to post some pics or a video of the fix?
Didn't think a Mac would have this issue... kinda disappointed.

The paper would not slide between the negative nut and the positive post when they are touching. The paper is a good way to verify that the positive and negative terminals are not touching. This was the location of the short even though the arc was occurring at the switch. Because of the very close proximity of the two terminals under the top cap, if it is out of alinement by 1mm or so it will touch. I hope these pictures help. It is a easy fix once the true problem was discovered.
Thanks to Mac for his quick response to my original post via PM. It is reassuring that someone stands behind a product and is willing to do what he can to remedy the problem even if he does not no what is exactly wrong.

OK so I had an extra Ihybrid sized fused quartz tank and I tried it it was a smidge to tall to comfortably seat the top cap. Any thoughts on whether a zag/zap quartz tank would work? I realize the bevel would not be present. However would the height be OK? I really want to see my juice and not have issues with juice melting the tank :)
Anyone available to do the comparison?
My Mac 500 is my daily out and about device. My wick is seasoned and working beautiful. U shaped even. I and the folks around me love it.

I lost it down a floor drain at work. I was putting in a second washer to extend the throw, dropped it & down it went. I asked Mac where I could buy a replacement & he said he'd send one out with the upgrades. He didn't. I asked him again & he said he'd send one. He didn't. At this point, I'd just like to have a usable mod. If anyone has any ideas where I could buy one, or another fix, I'd appreciate the help.
