I know that retailers are no longer allowed to sell tanks after May 20th, but if we already own an array of large tanks (above 2 ml) are we still allowed to use them in public or will we get penalised for doing so?

Many thanks
What you have now should be fine after 20 May.
The question remains if second hand sales (private party to private party) of "non compliant" tanks/liquids/nicotine will be policed or regulated.
I've not bought an atomizer from a boot...Yet.

Cheers
I

I dont live in the UK, but that sounds bat guano insane. Illegal to sell a tank that is more than 2 ml?

With all of the cameras that they have installed everywhere there now, I wouldn't be surprised if in the future, a camera will zoom in on a random person walking down the street that is vaping, and if the software detects that you are using an illegal tank, a SWAT team (or the UK equivalent) will swoop in and detain you.

Shouldn't they be more worried about terrorists and other things that are of a more pressing matter? Nah, I guess that vaping is the prime concern. All they need now in the UK is to pass a luxury tax on soda and even diet soda, like a few demented places in the US has already done.

So much for freedom, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Ouch, the people of the UK have my condolences.

The bright side is that hopefully it will go down as well as it has been going in towns in the US that have implemented a similar tax.

Those towns are losing business, and companies such as Pepsi have even laid off workers because of lost revenue, due to the draconian and anti-freedom laws that certain clueless and disgusting politicians have forced upon the people.

That makes me glad.

The TPD was enacted about a year ago. I believe it was before the deeming regulations in the US were released or close to that time, so maybe 18 months?
I was thinking that maybe this is the very reason that even though in the past there was not only a nautilus mini made but a regular nautilus that holds 5ml, for some odd reason the nautilus 2 was made into a 2ml tank and no larger size. Maybe they at Aspire knew something like this was on the way so they made the nautilus 2 a 2ml for this very reason. Just a thought, could be wrong.

Every time I hear the term Public health come out of a politicians mouth my head hurts a little. ...

But <2ml Tanks were shown to be 64% Safer that Tanks Greater than 2ml.

I think I saw that in a Study that came out of UCSF.

The 'reasoning' behind it... 20mg nicotine x 2ml = 40mg. A 'safe' dose if someone were to open the tank and drink it.:( Based on zero evidence - It's generally accepted that a lethal dose of nicotine for humans would be 500+ mg.
Same as the 10ml maximum limit for any eliquid container regardless of the nicotine content. Both rules appear to be just randomly generated.
Tax revenue will come into this at some point.....

Firstly it came from the European Parliament, not the UK.

Of course Aspire knew. it's been on the cards for over 2 years. Actually came into effect last May with a year grace to sell or otherwise dispose of non compliant products. Deadline for registering products as compliant in time for TPD day was in November. The May this year date is when it becomes illegal to sell non-compliant stock in the EU.

At least we don't have deeming & the FDA to contend with over here.

Think of it the same way as vintage cars. Many of them don't have seatbelts, but are still road legal. However it is a legal requirement for new cars to be fitted with them.

You can still legally buy & sell vintage cars, but if a replica of one was built new it would have to have seatbelts included to be legal. Second hand tanks would be a similar situation, perfectly legal to have 4/5/6ml tanks & sell old ones , but if you want a new one it has to comply with current law.

The UK is leaving those clowns soon, thanks to Brexit.

Is their law still valid and legal and does the UK have to follow whatever laws the EU dictates to them?
It has to stay until we leave, then our government can repeal anything they don't like. I can't see TPD being one of the things they change.

Although by & large they've been a lot more sensible here about vaping than most countries.
