New Crown7 Device Allows Smokers to Puff Without Smoke

Crown7.com, the global leader in electronic cigarettes, announced today its launch of the HYDRO product line representing the most advanced e-cigarette on the market....

Some seriously good free(?) advertising for crown7.

Global leader ??
most advanced ??

What's wrong with the NY Times. anyone think this could have been paid for ?

Crown7 is the first and only manufacturer that offers "Made in the USA" cartridges

Is this true you think ?

If you go down to the bottom of the article it says "Source: Crown7" -- it's just a press release from Crown7. I'm not a regular NYT reader but I imagine their online business section carries a lot of them.

On the "Made in the USA" cartridges... I got a chuckle out of that. Little pieces of plastic with some fiber? Good thing we have that industry to fall back on if the auto bailout doesn't go through! ;)

No i don't think it's just you. Times are tough for them and maybe they are experimenting with different methods of online advertising. Also appealing to the lowest common denominator is where the cash is at
> gutter news.

It's funny, I came across the article because it was posted to e-cignews by one of crown7's crew. S/he titled it:

Found Info on Crown7 that I thought was interesting.
I was reading the NY times and came across this article that I thought would be interesting for everyone to check out.

yeah, no .... s/he found it interesting.

Well I loled.

That's not the NYTimes writing. The source is in parentheses (BUSINESS WIRE). In other words, this a verbatim handout piece of advertising from Crown 7 that is popped on the Internet (but I doubt in the print product) and now everyone is happy -- except smucks who read it and think an ace NYTimes reporter researched and wrote this. It is a thoroughly disgusting practice, however, even for a "community newspaper."

Newspapers are in a death spiral including the Times. Pity. Time is passing them by.

Thanks Bob, i guess it's similar to those ads you sometimes see in newspapers that read like it is an article but actually have a border:

"------this is an advertisement------"

These online versions don't carry that border.

Never heard of Business Wire before. Looking at the source for the page, it looks like Business Wire in effect own that page (or rent it at least) and change the content as it suits them by uploading what-ever their clients wish to put there. It's kind of like a time share.

I was originally surprised that google update had not notified me of its existence but I think it's because their bots are told not to archive it. It will stay there as long as crown7 pay the bill and then vanish.
