So.got my OverOne's in to go with my new Classics. Been using them for a few days and I really like them.
I also ordered an all Brass Sleek today. I got to keep away from this site and their sales.

How's it going, my Poldiac brethren? I've got nothing new to show off, but I've been enjoying the photos ya'll have been posting! Been a ROUGH week for me. Lotsa bad going on. But it can't rain ALL the time, right? ;)

All is good on this rainy Monday. :) Sorry to hear that you have some not so good stuff happening, but as you said, this too will pass. It always does :)

I have a picked up a few new things, but I wouldn't post pics of here because its not the Poldy ... gotta keep this thread pure. :)

Thanks Nikki! Some things are better today (I actually got some SLEEP last night!) and other things aren't so hot. I'm hoping to meet up with a friend today to relax a bit. That'll help. :)

I've not read the thread - will try to over the next week or so.

Having said that - how long's the sale been going for and anyone know how much longer it will last?

I'm looking for my first mech, have ordered a sentinel m16 from fasttech and am eyeing up a nemesis clone and a couple of other second hand cheap things on ebay.

I reckon I want a side button, cos that's what I'm used to - I'm not bothered about appearance but value reliabilty and functionality. FastTech reviewers tend to say the Poldiac clone has button issues, so I'm looking at the auth.

Does the auth have button issues? Does it have competition for side button firing? Does the button lock, and if so how?

I want an 18350 mech, and would be grateful if people could reply and summarise the thread and tell me why I want to spend 75 euros (inc postage) for a tube of metal I can get on FT for $10.

Many thx

I'm not trying to be nasty or uppity but if you don't understand the difference between a Poldiac and a $10 FT tube you may not be ready for a Polidiac. That said ...

I've never heard of anyone that was disappointed with the fit, finish, and craftsmanship put into a Polidac, to say nothing of how well it vapes. The button does lock but its pretty darn pocket friendly as it only protrudes a tad from the shirt and while it's an easy finger press to fire it, it doesn't fire easily at all when pocket carried. Yes it locks, just press the button in a bit and twist the shirt over it to lock it. Easy-peazy.

Maybe I can answer your question with a question. How long would you expect that $10 clone to last? The Poldiac, or whichever one you are looking at, at MM I would expect to last for, I dunno.... years.

When I applied that logic to a Vamo vs a Provari, I thought that a vamo equals 7 provaris so bought a vamo. But I only used the vamo for a month or so - it's big, it's clunky, it feels cheap and the 510 is rubbish.

I'm not trying to be nasty or uppity but if you don't understand the difference between a Poldiac and a $10 FT tube you may not be ready for a Poldiac.

LOL. Well, I don't - which is why I am asking here. As I mentioned above, the reviews I read on FT of Poldiac clones mention button issues and it feels to me like button issues are moderately critical. :)

I'm a newbie, bought a Kayfun V4 auth and clone in January. The auth is my adv, and I've not used the clone for a month cos it is dysfunctional. I have enough experience now to make it work, and have ordered another couple of clones cos I know I can make them work.
But I am a slow learner and a poor performer, don't want that sort of learning curve on something safety critical which is why I am here.

Thanks for that. I'm looking at this one:

Poldiac Full Satin Classic 18350

So - anyone know how long the sale will last? I might be able to talk myself into a half price mod, but simply can't afford full price.

Don't know anything about the sale timeframe. But the button on the real deal is superb. I have the UMA (brass) and the Cloud Wizard and I'm quite pleased w/ the look, finish, function and particularly the 'vape'. As soon as I got my first one, I knew right away I 'needed' :D another one.

Thank you

This maybe is where my noob status becomes more apparent: I understand about form, reliabilty, functionality, but when you say: "particularly the 'vape'" I do not understand.

A mech delivers 4.2v fully charged to the atty, slowly diminishing as the battery discharges. In this respect alone, how can any mech out perform another?

Some mechs have a lot of voltage drop.

I just got two Mini Nemesis (plural is it Nemesi?). There is a huge difference in the vape between those and my Stingrays, Poldiac or brass Skeleton Key. So much so, I'm not happy with the vape. I was running my Mini Buddha on aStingray X while I waited for the Nemi. The vape was awesome, but an 18mm atty looks silly on a 22mm mod. Ok, Nemi is here, and they look great, but the vape is weeny now :(

I've learned certain mechs just don't make me happy vape wise. They might be pretty, and have a nice switch, but its the vape quality that matters most to me.

What Roxy said. No need to panic as the sales have been rotating so if something your interested in isn't in sale now, just keep watching.

And the fasttech version never did get the button quite right. The real one floats on a magnet so there's nothing to wear out.

As for voltage drop every connection, thread or spring is a link in the electrical connection.
If they use a bad spring or the threads are poor or very loose this causes a small loss in conductivity, add in many threaded sections like in a stingray or nemesis and this gets even worse, and in some cases top it off with a bad blend of mystery metal and suddenly you lose a lot of voltage just pressing the button.

Roxy was spot on. I've had 2 identical mechs from Sieglei and 2 identical mechs from HCigar. And for each pair of 'em one delivered 3.7V and the other only 3.3V to the atty under load with a fully charged battery. As matter of fact I tested w/ the same batt and atty to eliminate variables causing the difference. This doesn't say much for their build quality, tolerances and/or materials.

My mech's from vendors like Super-T and MM Vapors on the other hand have very little voltage drop and are consistent from one mech to another. (yes I have multiple of the same style from each vendor).
