From all the reading I have done over the last year and a half it seems that people that already have any kind of compromised lung or breathing problems (like bronchitis or asthma) tend to be the ones that have the most trouble with the vg. I know, for myself, that I can not vape anything with more than about 40 to 50% vg in it and if it has any hint of spices like cinnamon or a custard, I am toast. So I avoid them.

I have been vaping solely Ahlusion (outside of a rare outlier juice) for over a year now and with the flavors I vape I have no problems. In my juice hunt I had vendors I could not tolerate and flavors I could not tolerate more often than not. Then you have the people and long time smokers that can vape anything. I think it is an individual matter, but I am not a medical person. I just know what does and does not work for me.

I had a bad scare a year ago September where I vaped Vanilla Custard for a couple of days and my throat and mouth got literally burned and my throat swelled up. I had to take a lot of Benedryl and vape just vg for a couple of weeks for it all to heal. That is how I found out about my cinnamon and custard sensitivity. Thank goodness I healed, but it took almost 2 months before I could vape normally.

I truly hope you are able to get off that oxygen. That must have been a horrible and scary experience. I am so sorry you went through that.

I should have the definitive answer pretty soon. I have an appointment with a pulmonologist and I'm armed to the teeth with questions about our vaping liquids. Everyone who smoked for any length of time has COPD. I denied it vehemently but it is true. Given that, I want to know from a qualified MD how vaping and COPD interact or even if they do.

@ Lulu & Shari, in the past month I have been moving to higher PG in my juice, because I was developing a cough, and heavy feeling in my lungs from what I now believe to be high VG juice. When I first started vaping, my usual brand was 70/30, but when I started DIY'ing it was at 50/50. Slowly I started upping the VG in my mix until I was about 30pg/70vg, this is when I began to notice the heavy feeling in my chest, and a cough. Currently I am at 60pg/40vg 8mg/ml, and the symptoms are pretty much gone now. ( I had a horrible constant cough when I was a smoker.) I am now leaning towards a higher pg ratio in the future.

I have been sensitive to VG the whole time I have been vaping. Too much VG clogs my ears and makes my chest heavy (I have allergies). 20-30% VG is best, but I can do 50/50 if I don't vape too much of it at a time.

ETA: I buy my juice (when I don't DIY) according to the PG/VG ratio. No flavor is worth doing otherwise to me.

So glad the kitty came home. Amazing how he knew where to go since you haven't had him very long. Hope your grandson will be home soon too.

The good news is it's not freezing here. It was probably 75 degrees today. Really nice outside. The bad news, my mom is still critically ill and her birthday is tomorrow. Finally had to call my sister to help out a bit. My stress level is maxed out.

Thanks every one.
Stray kitty is doing fine. He decided to sleep in the cold garage last night. He hasn't yet made friends with the resident cats.

My sons baby made it home yesterday and is doing really good.

I'm still really happy with my atomizers. I tried the avid aero and really like that one too. Almost as good as the hh.357.

So Lex...the shark's in the tank...dish...What's the verdict? :)

ETA; Are you wrapping your nickel or getting nic sick?...Dying to know what you think about it...

I've got a nickel build of 0.14Ω @ 420F in the Kayfun but there's just not enough airflow.
I NEEEEEEEEEEEED another white tank with massive airflow!!!!!

In the meantime I've topped it off with the Atlantis at 0.5Ω 30W. The joose is Strawberry/Banana. I'm tasting strawberry, banana & peaches & cream (which is the last juice I had in here). Vapor is outstanding (as always with the Atlantis) & flavor is decadent!

I thought about later tonight doing a nickel build in the Plume Veil or Magma but scratch that- they leak too damn much for me.

I made myself learn the buttons on the Shark so I don't have to keep reading from the container.

I have to find out how long the screen is supposed to stay lit after releasing the fire button. I'm looking at it like...shut off will you damn!

It took me a long time of heavy vaping to find out my pg/vg ratio comfort. Even 50/50 will give me a heavy lung/chest if I vape it for a couple of days. I have found through trial and error that my best ratio is 70/30 and maybe 80/20. There are times that I will vape straight vg or unflavored for a few hours, doing that is how I figured out that I do not do well with heavy vg juices.

The cinnamons and custards was a much quicker, violent reaction. Scared the crap out of me. I really thought I was going to have to give up vaping. Long process to get back to normal, but with careful consideration of the flavorings in my juices I got there. Most vendors do not list or disclose the variety of flavors they use. I will not get into a long discussion of it here. I am pretty sure we are all aware of the topic(s).

There is also a decent sized group of people that have big problems with the pg. Two summers ago that is the main reason I read about for people vaping very heavy vg juices. Before the cloud makers got popular.

It is a gradual dim, not instant. I forget how long it takes but it is at least 10 seconds probably more. It's in the PB DNA 40 vid with Brandon and I just don't pay attention to that..lol....I'm gonna look for white tanks for you now. Too bad almost everything is SS or Black,,, Yi Loong had some other fogger colors and I think EHPro has some Kayfun+ colors but oddly I do not recall white...

Here's a dripper...no clue on this one http://www.vividsmoke.com/rba-rda/freakshow-rda-white.html

http://www.vividsmoke.com/rba-rda actually on this page there is a mutation x clone (heard great things re: the real ones) and an EHPRO Kayfun Plus Clone...both white

And this one is funny,,,on Amazon (erm Whiskey tango Foxtrot) it reminds me of Fringe for some reason....http://www.amazon.com/White-Little-Boy-RDA-Clone/dp/B00QLLBJA2

Some of that is on Fleabay too...the Freak show looks like it has Goblin-like airflow...

I saw that vid back when it was uploaded. PB is so long winded I end up not finishing.

I look at all of these today- looking more for a RTA. Already have a white Plume Veil. It tends to leak and honestly, I dont like dripping that much.

That last one looks just like a Plume.

Already have a white Kayfun- it's not airy enough so I cant see myself buying another & I lack the skills to drill out the sirhole.

Well there is that White Kayfun EHPRO...I just don't think they have the greatest airflow if you are lung hitter, But wicked right they can be good. ahaha missed that part...we agree.

Well here's an idea...you could send your fave tank out for powder coating...

How about the guy who custom paints the Varis?

I found this searching us....http://thagbuilt.com/ Apparently he, at one tine, did custom paint jobs...

Ah, an Orchid user!

Got a quick question for ya in that case.
What's your preferred wicking method?

I just picked up a V4, and spent the whole afternoon and a third of a bag of cotton trying to get to stop leaking out the air holes.

Thank You for this post Shari! I had also read about people with pg problems, and the vg issue was under the radar for me, I was thinking that more vg would be better. It took me a long time to figure out what was going on. I also tend to like my flavors mixed on the lower side of the recommended percentages. That, I think, is why most of the pre-made e-liquid tasted "off" to me before I got into DIY.

Well, I have never had an Orchid leak so maybe I can help. I use Koh Gen Do cotton and cut off enough so that it is snug in the coil..not overstuffed but if you tug on one end of it, it doesn't come sliding out nor does it pull the atty. Then I diagonally trim the ends from the top.... and juice up the cotton, Tuck the ends into the juice channels and make them flush so they don't catch in the chimney grooves when you screw it back on...similar to this (wicking starts at 10:44)
