Without going through all the post could someone please refresh my memory.Has the Pyrex method been done on the DID clone.I have one without the clear tank and I get a lot of vapor without the top on.When the top is on barely anything.I know the air hole has to be moved to the top is that correct?I drilled a hole in a plastic drip tip thinking that would help but nope.If its been done on the DID clone could someone post a picture maybe of where to place the air hole.I have the Pyrex about half way down inside the tank and about 1/4 of an inch sticking out and wrapped with 32gauge Kanthal. If this set up is all wrong some help please would be appreciated.

The air hole/flow debate is still ongoing. As well as other optimization efforts. But your experience is not uncommon. (The hole in the Drip Tip is new to me)

However, Dan demonstrated good vapor production with a longer tube sticking out with the stock drilled airhole not directly on the coils. Dan's demonstration is early on in this thread. Here is a link to his Video http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modding-forum/351986-pyrex-ss-hybrid-wick.html#post7816223

For reference, BJ43 set up a new summary thread for complete and working versions to consolidate posts because this thread took off like a rocket with ideas and concepts. BJ's thread is here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modding-forum/355145-new-dans-scubaqu-only.html He has multiple videos using different wicking materials.

Of note, their setups have about 10mm of glass tube in the atty chamber in Dids/duds. BJ43 and other have commented that vapor production was greater not having extra tube inside the tank.

Your setup sounds more like what I did, but in an AGA. I progressed from ~9mm down to ~4mm of tube in the atty chamber. I found that with the AGA having the airhole aligned with the tip of the tube and few mm of ss wick sticking out worked best for me. It had good vapor production and was vapable. It was not better than a standard genny, but it was pretty good. I do not know if/how that type of setup will work in a did/dud.

As a side note, I tried a 10mm tube in a dud like Dan and BJ. I got vapor production with the top off, but could not replicate a good vape like Dan/BJ/others. YMMV

Thank you for all the info.I think I'm just going to stick with my AB.I feel messing around with this set up is going to be a beast of burden, and I have too much of that already lol.I do appreciate the help.I have 3 Pyrex tubes if anyone wants them. They are 2.5mm OD here is the part number they are on Wilmad LabGlass WG-1365-2.5A.Just shoot me a PM and its yours. So first come first serve.Well its 3 and a half pieces,I forgot about the half piece.

Thought I'd bump this thread to mention that I refined the inner coil set up to pretty much perfection.

This evening I will start a new inner coil thread with some pics and full instructions. On lunch on my phone right now, but I am pretty exited with how well this method works that I wanted to give the intrepid moders inspired by Dan's thread a heads up.

Can you post a link to the new thread in this one so I may follow your progress Big Screen. I have some small capillary tubes on the way, because i was not having much luck with the 3mm pyrex.

Sorry guys. I'm starting to think that the crash and burns were packaged up by my neighbor. He was a little tipsy at the time. Careful trying to clean up that ragged end, and don't use a file or a grinding wheel of any kind. It doesn't work very well at all. Sanding is your best bet.

Thanks for shipping me another package..... ""nothing was broken this time"".... Thanks so much

received my package too...managed to be shattered in the middle:( No need to resend anything....sooner or later I'll get around to ordering something up and playing around.

I was inspired into some whacky modding due to the last posted Big Screen D inner tiny coil success!:toast:
(no big E, as too much wack can be too over the top for most. Yes, I know I am strange & I like it:))

They were all speedily & sloppily done but have some potential, I suppose. None vaped well enough to keep mE from mods I enjoy as my daily vapers, but none were vaped long or had any kinks attempted to be worked out. I liked the silver tube idea the best & have some other ideas I may test try when I can afford it. The "Spin E in E" was the easiest for anyone to try no tubes needed & its behavior tasted the most like a standard mesh but with a glass geyser-like effect but not too much volcanic upward plume (unless tipped hard little molten popping). I tested them only for very short time & the results are non firm due to my little forethought before the test & other sloppiness such as waiting a few days to edit the video.

I hope it @ least entertains a bit, until Big screen D starts his thread &/or other activity gets going again in this awesome & original pool of ideas thread.

best seen full screen HD as always

I tried a glass tube on a AGA-T but the coil was so far away from the post that the pos lead glowed all the time. I couldn't get rid of that hotspot. How did you over come this? The only way to get the coil closer to the post was to take the glass tube out of the wick hole.

I've seen someone use a couple of washers to get the wire closer to the center post!!

Maybe a short piece or NR wire wrapped from the post to the coil? I don't have this RBA (ordered it/in the mail) but that's what I'd try first?

As Mveraldi posted... Stainless washers do the trick.

See example pics of AGA version 4 and 5 here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modding-forum/355145-new-dans-scubaqu-only.html#post7916617

I had this set up and working well, but now that I've wrapped a new coil...

It just seems to burn like a ..... The coils are just red hot the entire time and cause a nasty burned taste. Any hints as to why this may be happening this time around?

Is there any space between your coil and glass tube? or Maybe turn down voltage a bit?

It's a pretty tight coil. Came out at 1.2 ohms and I was firing it at 4.1 like I normally do. I turned it down to 3.4 and while that delayed it, eventually the coils started burning red again. I'll try setting it up again tonight when I get home and make sure the coils are as tight as I can possibly get them.

Edit: if it helps at all, I've got it setup in the ac9

Thank you all for the suggestions. I should have thought of the washer.
