You're both very kind. Personally, I go back and forth as to whether it's impressive or pathetic, especially when my jpeg showed only the little corral of my desk PVs and left out the grand panorama of the four other other larger wire-mesh containers of juice mini-dropper bottles and other cartos on that table. And heaven forbid that I take a picture of the big juice cabinet assembly that sits next to my library table like a monolith---four feet high, with more than 25 drawers full of vaping juices and other stuff.

Again, about all I can offer in my defense is that I'm certain I'm not alone in the extent of my gear---I've seen pics on ECF of some of the more stupendous collections that dwarf mine---and that vaping is one heck of a hobby.

ive had to take a step back here lately as all my supplies/ juices were getting out of hand as well. i have so many different juices that there is no way i could vape them all in a year. juices ive ordered and havent even tried and favorites that havent been vaped in months. sometimes i feel overwhelmed by the choice of what juice to vape. recently though i have put a hold on ordering new juices in an attempt to vape a chunck out of what i have.

The next time I get an urge to buy some more juice, because I just read a review, or was reminded about one I wanted to try, or decided to try something else on the RY4 list, or just feel I haven't bought anything in a week, I'm just going to pack my bags, visit Bill and sample his collection.

Ceegary,

It's not exactly a short trip from Phoenix to the Oregon coast, but it you ever happen to get here, you're welcome to dig right into my stash. I don't have enough space to put you up in my apartment, but there's a rustic motel right near me. We'll gaze at the huge sand dune out my back door, listen to the ocean, chat about the world, and vape the day away.

violet,

How lucky you are to have found the juice that makes all others pale for you! (That might read as sarcasm, but I don't mean it that way at all---I'm actually a little envious.) I certainly agree that Maureen's House Blend is fantastic! My 15ml bottle is almost gone after less than a week, but I've ordered a 30ml bottle (Deal of the Day yesterday!) and a whole bunch of 3ml samples. Yum.

Mr. Bill I have a question for you, does NLV RY4 taste a lot like Bounty Hunter to you? Do you think it's styled that way or is it just a side effect of similar ingredients?

Monsieur GMal,

The idea of vendors having a signature flavor tonality that runs through many or all of their juices emerges time and again on ECF juice threads. Sometimes the term "base flavor" is used, but that's less an accurate description of juice recipes or how juices are made in the lab kitchen than it is a description of end users' experience of similarity. So, I would answer your second question (a side effect of similar ingredients?) in the affirmative. Yes, I imagine that Bounty Hunter and Renegade do share certain identical flavorings.

On the other hand, my answer to your first question (does Bounty Hunter taste a lot like Renegade to me?) is no, they don't. To me, the tobacco in Renegade comes shining through as a sharper, more biting taste (in a good way). By contrast, I don't get much tobacco from Bounty Hunter, which is very smooth. Bounty Hunter has tobacco, of course, but not as a dominant or forward flavor, more as an accent. Also, Renegade has the caramel element in about equal balance with vanilla, while Bounty Hunter's overall flavor has more of that same vanilla than any other single flavor to my palate, with some additional ingredient that gives it a "cake-like" body, but with no caramel at all. Overall, Bounty Hunter strikes me as a vanilla cake juice with tobacco overtones.

In terms relevant to our thread, Bounty Hunter is definitely not an RY4, whereas Renegade definitely is.

My inventory levels are not quite as high bill, though yes, I feel your concern there! I have easilly got enough juice to last me an entire year and well into the next... Yet I keep discovering new ones, new flavours, new temptations and yes I keep ordering!

I bought a small(ish) set of plastic draws to keep everything nice and neat.. It's completely full of all wonderful things, mostly bottles of juice, cartomizers, clearomizers, batteries, cartridges, syringes, samplers, blunt needles, atomisers and old PV's.

I did a bit of a ruthless clear out last night (though it became half hearted after around 10mins!) where I deiceded to chuck out juices I knew I'd not try again. But it's left little of a dent in all honesty. Still I can conclude from my small clean out: I shall never, buy a chocolate flavoured juice again. I don't like any of them. Horrible aftertaste on all of them.

Thank you for the in depth response. I think I am still trying to nail down how the flavors hit for me in Renegade but regardless I am Lear if I am a fan of NLV. I think it is very interesting how the same flavor of juice evokes such different responses in people's tastebuds. This thread is an excellent example of that.

Please add your thoughts here when you do. I am curious about how each person likes different aspects of each RY4.

I've tried about 15 RY4s so far. Taboo was not a favorite, so DeKang is probably not for me. I still prefer the Quicknic and Prime Vaping. I guess VR4 is next to try.

Speaking of Quicknic, they are giving away 150ml. Just "Like" them on Facebook. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ial-quick-nic-juice-thred-15.html#post3906904

Hangdude - thanks for the info about the contest. I don't do contests and I don't do facebook, but made an exception for both when you posted this. I ordered some QuickNic RY4 when I first started reading this thread, back in the "olden days" when it was near the top. Just love the stuff and couldn't miss a chance to win some.

If you like his RY4, you'll like his Vanilla Tobacco. I received a sample, and it is really good. He will be putting it on his site very soon. Good luck. 150mls would last anyone a long time!

The 30ml bottle of Copper Creek Twisted Tobacco I purchased for this review is a 40/60 PG/VG blend at 18mg nic strength. Color of the liquid is a medium-dark amber transparency. I let the juice steep for a week, then filled a 1.7 ohm Resurrector cartomizer powered by a 3.7-volt E-Power 18650 unit. I also atty-dripped it to confirm the flavors.

Maureen---herbalist and founder of Copper Creek---is both an old and new vendor. She's been making, sharing, and selling juice to and for ECF members for a long time. Recently, she became a an official forum supplier, then opened her web site: Copper Creek Trading Company. In a single month, Maureen's Copper Creek thread in the Supplier Forum has burgeoned to a 248-page love fest, and her House Blend liquid (not a tobacco blend; more of a subtle dessert vape) is shooting up the ECF popularity charts with a bullet, and for good reason. Twisted Tobacco is Maureen's take on an RY4-variant.

If I wanted to write a very short, blunt review of Twisted Tobacco, it would go like this: Twisted Tobacco is a medium-sweet tobacco blend I can see myself vaping from time to time, but as an RY4-variant it doesn't pass muster. Period.

Too harsh? Well, then let's not do the short, blunt review, and instead take a deeper look into what makes this juice tick (or not).

This is the only tobacco flavored juice that Copper Creek sells. And it shows. Making great tobacco blends requires a practiced hand, and experience helps. Here, either the tobacco flavor itself is weird, or the interaction with the other ingredients in the mix is producing side-effect flavors that are not particularly pleasant. I ask myself if I could be wrong about this. Perhaps the odd taste is coming from the caramel or vanilla. That seems unlikely, although not impossible. This off-taste I'm trying to pinpoint isn't chemical or perfumey, nor is it floral or fruity. Woodsy, maybe? Grassy? No and no. Hell, I don't know what it is, except to say that it's right in the center of the mix, but too far out on the wings of the flavor bell curve for many of us. Unusual and exotic are sometimes very effective to expand our habitual comfort range of flavor enjoyment, but here the effect is just strange and slightly off-putting.

My guess is that the aim was for a rich caramel-vanilla with a subtler background tobacco aura. And, yes, this is a very rich vape, more rich than sweet, actually. But for richness to work, the flavors have to be spot-on. To my palate, the richness inadvertently brings out the odd side-taste, highlighting it to the detriment of the other "classic" flavors. Among unique RY4s, the most natural competitor to Twisted Tobacco is Vaperite VR4, since both are so caramel-rich (Twisted is also vanilla-rich, perhaps even more than caramelly). But VR4 wins hands down in my book, because the gooey caramel and tobacco are squeaky clean. The oddness of Twisted's flavor profile pushes the envelope a little too far, which finally does it in.

What's surprising to me about this is that I've been vaping Copper Creek House Blend like there's no tomorrow. Now that is an amazing juice. Subtle, beautifully blended, mysterious, and deeply satisfying---the perfect all-day vape. So naturally I expected great things from Twisted Tobacco. I can tell that both juices were created by the same hand/mind/heart, but the difference is that one succeeds wonderfully while the other simply doesn't. This happens to all of us, from Bach to the Beatles and Dimaggio to the Dalai Lama. Everyone goes down swinging sometimes.

And here's the weirdest thing of all: Even though I'm giving Twisted Tobacco a low ranking (#33), I would still recommend that people consider buying a sample bottle, along with other Copper Creek juices, especially House Blend. Usually, the YMMV "taste-is-subjective" caveat is used as a disclaimer, but here I truly want to urge people to try Twisted Tobacco themselves and see what they think. Even if it is a less-than-successful juice, it's a very interesting failure.

:vapor:What a difference a few days of steeping makes. I first vaped my NLV RY4 a day after I received received it and was over powered by the sweetness of it. The vanilla and caramel were al I could taste. Now after it steeping for a few days the tobacco really shines through. It's the tobacco I am initially hot with then on the exhale a very nice mixture of caramel and vanilla with enough TH on my Echo dual coil carto's to let me know I did just vape something. I love it, I can see this becoming my main sweet RY4 and Ikenvape Gold being my go to tobacco RY4. For me it will be hard to beat these two variations. :vapor:

The 5ml sample bottle of ECBlend Ruyan 4 I purchased for this review is a 50/50 PG/VG blend at 18mg nic strength. The transparent liquid is a pale yellow-amber color, slightly darker than some RY4s that are nearly clear, but still subtle. Because it is custom-made rather than factory pre-mix, I let the juice steep for a week, then filled a 1.7 ohm Resurrector cartomizer powered by a 3.7-volt E-Power 18650 unit. I also atty-dripped it to confirm the flavors.

ECBlend goes to some lengths to establish credentials of quality and purity. The web site states, "ECBlend's custom line of liquid flavors are… Something Better---refreshing, delicious, and Made in the U.S.A." And further, "Our flavorings are completely natural wherever possible. (Some flavors are artificially flavored, just like food flavorings and are safe to vape.) Our flavorings do not contain Diacetyl or ingredients that might lead to trace amounts of Diacetyl. We do not not use Diethylene Glycol in any of our E-Liquid products."

First off, this is a very well-behaved RY4. I got the feeling in vaping it that the folks at ECBlend who created this recipe and mixed the liquid were careful rather than bold, and cautious rather than wild. They have obviously sampled many RY4s before creating their own, because this juice is a relative of the "club" of highly-ranked RY4s to which I often refer: Dekang, Dulcis, Bloog/Volt, Taboo, Elixir, and Riskee. ECBlend Ruyan 4 is not identical to that bunch, but it leans in the same direction. Differences that distinguish ECBlend's juice include a little more body in the caramel/vanilla, and a little less bite to the tobacco. But then, my sample bottle is 18mg, whereas most of the others are 24mg, so perhaps that accounts for the tobacco's slightly diminished sharpness. Throat hit and vapor production are fine, by the way, precisely what one would expect from an 18mg nic concentration in a 50/50 blend; I'm talking mainly about flavor impact here. On the other hand, my bottle of Bloog/Volt RY4 is also 18mg, but it has a more emphatic tobacco bite.

That's part of what I mean by writing that ECBlend Ruyan 4 is well-behaved. Some RY4s are mainly caramel-vanilla with a subtle undertone of tobacco. Others are strongly tobacco-based, with tobacco as the lead vocalist and caramel and vanilla as the back-up singers. ECBlend is perfectly balanced---all three components are equal in the mix, like Three Dog Night (if you're old enough to remember that band).

The caramel and vanilla are not especially rich, however, which allows the tobacco punch to come through. This isn't a sweet dessert vape. But it's not dominated by the tobacco, either. Instead, it aims for harmony of flavors. In this, it resembles PrimeVaping PV4, although the flavor profiles aren't similar due to the different sources and flavors of the component trio. I like PV4 more because the caramel is sweeter, while ECBlend keeps the sweetness under control by what I would almost call a subtle saltiness. This is in no way an off-taste or bad flavor. In fact, it's quite interesting and unusual. It's just that I have a moderate sweet tooth. I know for a fact, however, that some people don't like what they consider overly-sweet dessert-type RY4s. For those folks, ECBlend could be just what the doctor ordered.

Because ECBlend Ruyan 4 is so carefully designed and balanced, the only Category Group I can place it in is the Balanced Category, but being in only a single Group is not meant as a knock against the juice. This is a fine RY4, and the relatively high ranking I'm giving it (#14, just below NLV Renegade) is well-deserved. Were the caramel and vanilla richer and somewhat more flavorful, it could break into the Top 10, but its cautiousness keeps it in the second tier.

This is our 40th juice on the Big RY4 Roundup List, which provides a lovely 20/20 symmetry: every juice in the Top 20 gets my strong recommendation, but while I am obviously not as fond personally of the RY4s in the Lower 20, please understand that only the last couple of juices at the very bottom of the rankings are clunkers in my judgment. You might find the RY4 you love best of all awaiting you in the Lower 20, like the girl sitting quietly at the Senior Prom that your silly male buddy isn't drawn to and dismisses crudely, but you see her beauty and spirit right off and end up happily dancing the night away with her. (Man, is that a 1950s image or what? On second thought, maybe it's more timeless than I think…)
