Bill, what a doll baby. Love puppies but just as much all their lives. Taking a break on the throne. Three feet away is Moe Doodle, in the shower, behind the curtain, but chin resting on edge, keeping an eye on me. If I stay here long enough he'll take a quick nap, but light enough to spring up if I move.
They stay pretty tuckered out when Sissy Dog is gathering stuff and going in and out. There are three doors that we keep shut between main living area and outside, unfenced driveway area. This girlie, as bright as she is just doesn't grasp the concept of closing doors so they latch. All Bubs can open doors from both sides if bolt not fully engaged. So the whole time she is here it's constant dogs out. One out and s/he hangs pretty close and harasses the others inside fence. Two or more and they take off down the drive to explore neighborhood and/or woods. Other night Jake and Curly stayed gone for 45 minutes. They usually stop by dearly departed Chaco's house still looking for her or take a quick dip in their pool if cover rolled back.
Several days I've made her drive out in my car looking for them. Curly stays outside the fence area with her most of the time but doesn't leave her sight as long as it's just him but it drives the others bonkers when he torments them at the chain link part of fence.
Only times I've ever gotten p*ssed at her is when she doesn't pay attention and lets them escape. Those times, as I'm handing her my car keys I firmly remind her that if we lived on a busy street they would all be dead and she would never get over the guilt. She adds she would be devastated if one got hurt. But it doesn't keep her from being oblivious to them taking advantage of her carelessness.
Couple days ago both Heeler girls dashed out. They only went over to look for Auntie Chaco and explore two close properties and came right back. I had keys in hand and drink and REO and chair set up to wait but they appeared back before I got settled in. All are totally ignorant about cars. A couple neighbors drive so fast in/out our shared drive they could just as easily get hit back here.
As savy as Free Range Auntie Chaco was about streets and cars her own Dad hit her in their driveway a couple years ago.
Rant over.
Hugs, Feisty Alice
