Whats the main difference between a regular coil and a micro? Pros/cons? What do you guys think I should set mine up as? Thanks so much!

I haven't done any micros yet...so I can't tell you which is better....I'm just happy with the basic coils so far. I guess the only thing i can contribute is that either way...I have no doubt you will find it a far better vape than anything you will get out of a store bought atty or carto. Just don't feel intimidated...if you need to ease into it, then work on the basic coil first, then play around with the micros. :)

Edit...dang, I forgot to answer the question. Micro coils are much smaller than a basic coil, have more wraps and the coils are close together. I'm guessing the big difference would be in the increased surface area, ...only downside I can see besides more effort is perhaps a little more drain on the batteries. I'll give it a try eventually, but I'm lazy...happy with what I got. :D

So with the basic coil your using silica wick? And with the micro coil your using sterile cotton? The micro coil doesnt seem too difficult... Wrap it around the needle.. Leave some tails, insert into posts and screw down when the coil is in proper position, then once screwed down you can adjust the height of the coil. Then you go ahead and twist up your cotton and insert.. cut off the ends and tuck down the rest (without blocking the drip hole of course) and your good to go? One of those fancy screw on ohmeters would be very handy to have if you have an RM2.. Id like to pick one of those up, and dang I shoulda ordered some silica wicks to try both when I placed my order on the site.. Oh well, ill try the cotton first :D

Thanks for the advice! I really really appreciate the help!!

Cheers, Matt

Yes, I'm using silica...haven't done cotton either. Seriously...I'm THAT lazy. Just remember with the cotton that less is more. I've seen a lot of posts where folks weren't getting a good vape with the cotton and it was because they were using too much, so it couldn't wick well. If you end up having any issues, be sure to take photos of your set up so folks can have a look. :)

Good evening everyone. :)

I just spent 3 hours on the phone with Val - discussing & debating. She won, but I got in some good shots.

So what'd I miss?

RHP just kneecapped his wife.

That sounds interesting. Is it the kind of game that you can stop and start up again without any issues (not the kind of game you need to do something with every day or several times a day)?

Just admit it, Val...you're so stoked you're not even tired now. ...................:( sure wish I could go.

I took a diphenhydramine about an hour ago, I am feeling a bit loopy. I knew I would be too excited to sleep, but I will get 3 hours of sleep in the car at least. I am gonna look like I pulled an all nighter when I get there though! DH went to sleep at a respectable hour.

I finished packing around noon after I made the plans

I think you could use silica on a micro coil too, but you might have to separate the strands so it's a thin enough piece to fit through (though I am far, far away from an expert, and haven't used silica). I've only done 1 coil on the RM2 and used cotton, which is actually really easy to push through the coil, so it's really easy to change out when needed. And it's pretty easy to do the coil - just as you described it. If you're thinking about doing a micro coil, you might want to take a look at http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/reos-mods/446263-micro-coils-ohms-description.html. There are 2 youtube videos for micro coils - one by super X and one I think from Statistic, but I don't have those links on hand right at the moment.

As long as you're not the one driving it will be fine! I hardly ever get more than a few hours sleep the night before we leave on a trip. Probably half the people in Vegas are pulling an all nighter anyway, so you won't stand out :)

Have a wonderful time there!

I just looked at the youtube vids... I think I got the hang of it already and the RM2 isnt even in my hands :p It seems pretty straight forward... Although I will be using either 28gauge or 30gauge and am aiming to get a coil around 1.3-1.5ohms. So I figured for a micro coil, 12 wraps should give me that resistance... I dont think it will be a huge problem, just need to get my multimeter out of the work van on monday. Not a problem though cuz my Woodvil and RM2 wont arrive till next week anyways.. Just need to pick up some sterile cotton from the pharmacy tommorow. So im guessing cotton balls wont work as well as the cotton I see them using? Thanks a lot!

I have been wondering how I am gonna get my ceramic into a micro coil. Until then, I am using cotton balls but darn I have to be in good light with a magnifying glass. My old eyes just don't see so good any more. Once I get it started through the coil I am home free, but it is just teeny tiny

I used 30 gauge, on a 1/16" drill bit, about 11 or 12 wraps, and it came in around 1.9 ohms. One thing, it's easy to lose count of wraps, and it's hard to count them when they're so tiny and so close together :) Yes, you can use cotton from a cotton ball - just pull off a tiny bit from the edge, and then roll it into a strand.

Yep, I get another 3 on the way home! DH knows this though, he has seen me loose in a casino before. Before my injury, we went to the bike rally's in both Laughlin and Reno every year
