I played with the LR801 but did not like them as much as the LR510 so I stick with that

Hey got a technical q for Wooden REO owners, which 801 atty are you using?

And has anybody punched a hole into one of them yet? I've blown 3 so far and would like recommendations on where to buy them.

So far only tried LR 801's and find the draw way too tight (wondering if thats a LR issue).

Thanks all.

Hahaha well my atty of choice is still the 901 but the 510 atty with adapter on the Wooden doesn't suck up juices like the 801 natively does.

So going to learn to love the 801, was hoping somebody had recommendations. But wondering if I should try IKV 2.0 ohm 801.

Alice, I'm guessing the AWs will work. According to Sterno's measurements, I don't expect there to be a problem. The difference in width is almost negligible. The length of the AW is only roughly .6 mm shorter, and I'm willing to bet the battery spring will be long enough to compensate for that slight difference. I'm hoping to find out for sure next week.
:)

Thanks, C.J. I don't want to damage the GrandE right out of the package trying to fit a too big battery in. I'm going to order a couple of 'fires anyway 'cause we'll need them with two GrandEs going. Sure hope DH doesn't like his....

Here is Robs note about drilling....You can find it on page 182, post #1820.... Don't know if that helps or not.

A little tip for those of you that have access to a drill press.I take my old em atomizers that are clogged if you look at the bottom of the atomizer just above the threads you will see two air vents.I take a 5/64 drill bit and open the holes up.You have to be careful and make sure you don't go to far or its by by atty. After you have drilled it out just blow the atty off with some compressed air.I think you will be amazed how well it works.IT can be done with a regular drill but it is much easier with a drill pres

I don't blame you a bit. I too would much prefer to use the Ultrafire batteries that the Grand is built around. But ... just to be clear ... the AW batteries are shorter than the Ultrafires, not longer.
