Hey gang. I'm an old Reonaut who hasn't been in in forums or in touch with the vaping world for awhile. Found myself in a pickle lately, when I tried to order new cartos and found my supplier gone and the fact nobody seems to be making cartos anymore! Then there's the whole FDA thing. Just wanted to show off my 1st new LP Grand on right, (old one on left). And my 1st 2 rba builds! Chalice III on my old blue at 1.3ohm and RM2 at 2.0ohm on my new LP.
Thanks to everyone who helped me get re-educated and especially to the REOmaster Rob!

So, how do you know when it's time to rebuild an rba? With cartos, they'd last me 1 to 1 1/2 weeks and either the draw would get too tight or the flavor would be off.

Based my my vaping style/amount I typically re-wick a few times per week. 2 or 3. During this time I dry burn my coil to get it cleaned up and re-wick. I can usually tell by the taste falling off and by just looking at the coil and wick as the get gunked up pretty well. Your mileage may vary. It's like anything else...you'll know better based on experience.

I'm kinda lazy . I rewick (after dry burning) about once every 4 or 5 refills of the squonk bottle. I wait until the last minute -- which means the juice is definitely starting to taste burnt. @Mike Geaney is spot on. With only a little experience, you'll know when it's time.

Thanks, I have found some cartos still out there. I got a few more of my long used Boge LR's, but it looks like I'll be switching to RBA's. I got 600 feet of Kanthal wire and plenty of 50mg VG in the freezer in glass bottles. So, unless they outlaw batteries and cotton balls, I'm set for a while! F*** THE FDA!

Just got the LP and RBA's from Rob this afternoon, so not long. Just did the two builds. The 1.3 chalice I like better right now. Better vapor than my carto and I like the quicker squonk on it, the RM2 is really slow (I mix about 50/50 VG/PG). I'm used to squonking and givivng a few quick sucks on the carto to know I got enough in there when I hear it "slurp". This "slurpless" blind squonking will take a little getting used to. I always had issues when I was still using regular attys. I'd throw out at least a quarter of them because they were so inconsistent. Either draw too tight/airy or too little vapor. Somebody on the Reo forum then turned me on to Boge cartos. My old issues with store bought attys shouldn't be an issue with these RBA's.
