Howdy Rayonati Sloth, RedhatPat here. Feel free to call me, RHP, Pat, anything 'cept flatlander! Now young'in after I poured my heart out to you with honesty about my sour relationship with the word "Sloth" rather than the cute animal, I will try not to take your post personally, brother.

Anyway, here is a song about a hedgehog eating a carrot with his head stuck in a toilet paper tube.

Have a great weekend my fellow REOvillians,

RHP

 that is spectacular!

I am using Efast IMR 186550 35A. If those are not good let me know and I will pick up some others.
In another forum, @Debadoo had ask what battery I was using in my REO. I have used the above mentioned batteries in other mech mods. She told me to check on this forum to see if they were good batteries. I have to admit that I am a bit ignorant when it comes to the batteries now days.

WARNING: Efest Purple 35A 3000mAh is now a 10A battery!

Mooch is a pretty well respected battery tester around here and the main issue with Efest is that they overstate the discharge abilities of their batteries. i daresay it's a passable 20A battery, although most of us will use either AW's or the brown HG2's.

It really all depends on the coils you build, because Ohms law is such that the lower the resistance of your coil, the more you ask of your battery. My coils measure 0.3Ω, so assuming a (worst case scenario) battery charged to 4.2v - i'm asking for [I=V/R, = 4.2/0.3] 14Amps from say a 20A constant discharge battery, which is fairly safe.

You are always after the CDR or the constant discharge rating of a battery. Pulse ratings are a spurious irrelevance and there is no such thing and no industry standards for such a measurement.

The LG HG2's that i mentioned are flat-tops. A magnet from a REO door on top makes the throw of the firing pin easier if you are running a standard Grand. It also stops the top pitting if you are massively neglectful in cleaning the device ;)

When i did it years ago, it was of course frowned upon as unsafe, but since i am here and so is everyone else that does the same thing...

Don't buy batteries from Ebay! Reo users seem to like RTD Vapor. Other reputable battery sellers are Orbtronics, Illumn.com and a few others. Again check out some of Mooch's or Baditude's posts.

Best of luck!

As a smoker I used to carry around in my pocket a small pipebomb, next to my junk, as in a cheap mass produced lighter for a lil over twenty years so I don't sweat the battery safety stuff like T says s'long as ya get 'em from reputible places (for me it was rtd & provape) and please read @Baditude blog it..is..priceless in my opinion.

Thanks hun. I had a feeling it wasn't a good one, most efests aren't. But I wanted someone more knowledgeable about them than me to say so. I did refer him to Mooch, but wasn't certain if the one I found was the one had or not.

It really is a matter of the coils you build. If you only ever build above an Ohm then it's largely a matter of preference, but when you begin to go lower it's important that you know your batteries, the supplier of said batteries and in any case you test your coils. Then test them again with the atty fully assembled. Yes.

'i make the same coil all the time and it always comes out the same - no need to meter it' - wrong.

'Well the 35A is a pulse rating and as vapers we only ever pulse fire the batteries anyway' - sure, until a firing pin stays stuck on, then what?

If you always buy the best batteries you can afford and build coils that suit them then even if they fire nonstop all that happens is your atty gets (rather) hot and your battery discharges. No fires, no explosions, no problem!

Life is a game of risk assessment and the fact that a lot of us gambled on smoking and got out alive doesn't mean now is the time to take silly risks with volatile batteries.

I have a colorful collection of batteries, all good for my sub ohm coils. LG HG2, Samsung INR-25R and 30Q and also the AW 1600 button tops.

I just bought a Catfish Maker atty in the classifieds and ran out to the vape shop for some SS316L wire that I saw in Sloths tube video. In the mean time I built a single coil at .4 ohms for my so so Deringer and goodness gracious, it came to life. I was running dual Kanthal 28g at .5 ohm and was not happy. I am now. Time to try one last experiment with the disappointing Vector.

Really looking forward to the Maker that Rule recommended and Sloth showcased with SS wire. :)

I've been largely absent in REOville since Rob packed up his ECF forum. I've been vaping this gem all afternoon and none of the REO magic is gone, that's for sure - especially when equipped with a CC positive contact and Pdib Nuppin with a CaptSteve ultem top cap. Pure vaping bliss.

Yeah, my hands are filthy... been doing that yard word thing, aided by my Grand.

Darn, darn, diddle darn! My new Reo is now broken in. I was getting in my jeep and dropped it on the concrete in my driveway. Oh well, I knew it would happen. I just had hoped it would not be in the first week.
I was having a problem with it not wanting to feed right. I scratched my head, took the topper off, took the door off and tried to pump the juice. It was just a dribble, not enough to feed the cotton. I checked everything and it all looked right. I finally checked the tightness of the cap on the bottle. Bingo! Feeds like a champ. I guess it had come loose while using it the last couple days. I will now make sure it remains tight from now on.

Congrats and welcome @Diver9543 . You might also want to make sure you cut a "V" in the end of your feed tube that goes inside the bottle. This will help make sure the tube doesn't accidentally suck itself to the bottom or side of the bottle.

There will be many more bumps and bruises along the way for your Reos. One of mine has been blown out the side of a riding mower. I went over and picked it up, took the drip tip off and blew the grass out of the tip and off the deck, put the top cap back on, squonked it, then vaped it... It has a few nicks and dings on it, but vapes outstanding. Try doing that with 99.9% of other devices out there!!!
