ecig is just simpler to say than PV ('cause you will have to explain what it stands for), vaporizer ain't that bad but in french it's "vaporisateur", too long to pronounce so I'll stick with ecig.

This is an older thread but the OP is probably very happy to hear that PV has caught on in a big way!

If I'm talking to a smoker or former smoker I'll probably use the term ecig. On the other hand, if I'm talking to a non-smoker ill say PV. A lot of the time non-smokers will get hung up on the "cigarette" part of ecig so its just easier to say PV.

Everyone I know calls them those little steam machines and they're just glad to see people quit cigarettes.

For newbies, I always say e-cig and hate it. But it's confusing enough for a new vaper as it is to be calling it something else. I, here lately, have been calling it a PV instead. In public, if I'm questioned about it, I say PV or personal vaporizer.
