Disagree with what? That it is ugly or has a wattage limit? It is very understandable that some people find things aesthetically pleasing and that others do not, but I think you will agree many people have stated the Darwin is one extremely funky looking device...in an industry that has a lot of funky looking devices.

What did I state that you interpret as Darwin doesn't work at what it does? Does it have a wattage limit? Yes this isn't a debatable fact. Does that make it "not perform" no, I didn't say that. Does it have a swing arm that won't support some tanks? Yes of course you don't have to be an expert to see this. Does that mean it won't vape? No.
I never promoted the Lavatube as the best PV around. Unlike some people I do not go around viewing one mod as the best PV around but rather say, have said, and will probably always say it is dependent on what the user wants. You should try that, listening to what the user wants before making a suggestion. Your agrresive error laden tone isn't conductive to a good exchange of information.

First, EVERY PV has power limitations. You inferred that because the Darwin also has a top & bottom end in power output that it made it less than a top of the line model. You are playing games.

Second, box mods like the Big Daddy are extremely funky looking devices, also. Looks are subjective. Cigarettes are pretty stupid looking when you get right down to it. So what is your point, other than to be argumentative.

And the "user" or OP of this thread was asking for the "Rolls Royce" of PV's. When it comes to consistent performance (no battery drain), flexibility, battery charge, charging and vaping at the same time and the automatic ability to change the power output to match the change in resistence of the atty/carto, that is the Darwin NOT any model you have mentioned. Are their other models that are also in that class, relatively speaking, yes. Your denigrating those features does not change the fact that it amounts to one of the best models on the market. Inferring, that a box mod without those technical features is on par with a model that has those features is disingenuous. Whether that is what the OP wants or needs is subjective.

And as usual from past experience, there was no arguements occurring until you chimed in. Before that, people were providing suggestions of ones they thought fit the "Rolls Royce" class of PV's without knocking other's suggestions.

turning my heads away from the fight and back to topic.
For a mod that looks good, works well and its a class of its own, i would have to give Golden Greek a thumbs up.
I don't own one, YET! roar! but will in the future. perhaps when my pocket ain't so tight after spending so much ahaha.
However i do own a Provari which perhaps should be something like a Ferrari or so. Looks good, works well but i can't bear to drop it for fear of damage (which i did :( but its still going strongly =p).
And also i own a lavatube which is something like a honda/hyundai whatever. Its a good all rounder regardless of looks whatsoever.
I feel that as long as something pleases the eyes of the owner and works well n feels good for the owner, thats the owner's RR.
(as it stands now, my provari is my RR that is carbon fibre sleeved *grins*)

Both of those work on a Darwin. I'm only going off of what I have read by several Provari owners. I use 1.5 ohm DCC's on the Darwin at 4.8 volts. It is my understanding that if you try that on the Provari it will result in a "error code". If that is incorrect, that it can handle 1.5 ohm at 4.8 volts, then I was given incorrect information and will stand corrected.
anything that puts out enough power to trip the 2.5 amp cutoff which is only .3 amps lower than the darwin which is why it works for you..thats great and understandable and I am sorry you feel like such a well made pv is limited, I do not and that is why there is room for both... personally I like the safty features of the provari.. do not get me wrong the darwin has the same safty features just a bit different 2.5 amp cut off for provari, which by the way, I have NEVER poped an atty on, vs. 2.8 cutoff on the darwin pop goes the atty.. not all the time mind you, but it has happened.... for what you need it sounds as though the darwin is perfect... but its a mustang at best.. just to stick with the car anology.. and certainly not for everyone

and i was refering to the dct... dual coil tank.... can you use tanks on a darwin? I cant....

Actually, the amp limit on a Darwin is 6 amps. Brandon confirmed this (I'd always assumed 3 amps as well). Top voltage is 12 volts.

In other words, if you put a 0.3 Ohm atty on it (it would most likely need to be dual or triple coils) you could watch it get really close to 6 amps easily. Not practical? 3 2 Ohm coils in parallel get you pretty close to the mark ;)

You'd probably never see the full 6 amps or the full 12 volts using atties from the wild however, because of the 12.7 watt top setting (which is done in software for safety...13 watts driving a single coil atty could shoot liquid up in someone's mouth and cause 1st and 2nd degree burns), not because the device can't do it easily).

Why can't you use a tank on a Darwin?
Just put an extension on it and set it at 90 degrees.

If you 'must' have it be able to open and close for you...just get yourself a gooseneck.

You get a 5 inch by 1 inch platform to set it down!
Pick it up overhanded and use your index finger to fire if you're right handed. Use your thumb to fire if left handed.

With tube mods you get the nubby end to 'balance' it upon.

Darwin with everything you need to vape, 2 year transferable warranty, battereis, charger, etc...a gooseneck, and even add a fancy drip shield if you want. It's is still cheaper than some other mods with 'optional end caps', no batteries, no charger, and less warranty ;)

sorry op I just had to ask................... Credo with all the things you listed I would need to spend close to 350 to use 1 tank on 1 darwin.... I did it with 2 provari's for 450 wow where did you study math...

Edit: and I have the 2 year warranty on both of them....

I would like to appologize to the op for getting out of hand I did not want to stir up the fanboiz but it happens.... every pv mentioned has its place...and I myself am with you...I have a different pv for different things.... watching a movie... traveling... going out for a beer etc... and I think most serious vapors follow this as well....

Edit: and I have the 2 year warranty on both of them....

Base Provari with standard finish, comes with 1 year warranty: $159.95
End Cap with same finish: $19.95
One year extended Warranty (transferable?) $24.95
4 18650 Batteries: $48.00
Charger: $16.95
Holster: $9.95
Total: $279.75
....
Darwin:
Batteries and charger are built in.
Comes with wall wart and holster.
2 Year transferable Warranty on Darwin
1 Year transferable Warranty on Batteries
Total: 245.00

Add 2 510>510 (or whatever threads you want) extensions (can screw on any tank then): $12.00 ($257.00)

OR a single long 510>510 @ $6.00 ($251.00)

Or...get a Gooseneck @ $20 (can screw on any tank AND close the arm) ($267)

Yes, I put 4 batteries in the Vari cart, as they have roughly a 400 charge cycle lifespan. Darwin batteries are well over 1,200 charge cycles. Drop one 18650 battery if you really want to drop $12 off the Vari package and go tit for tat and argue specs for specs based on what I've said here, but still...I'm in the ballpark. The Darwin batteries should last more like 4 AW IMR 18650 batteries, and I'm pretty sure I over-rated the AW IMR batteries a little.

Vari Kit: 279.75
Darwin Kit: $267.00 with a totally twisted goose neck.

That still gives ya $12.75 to look at a drip shield if you like ;)
Or if you really want to argue semantics on the batteries and just get 3 for the Vari, we could skip the drip shield and call it pretty close to a dead heat.

Seriously, who the hell cares???

The OP asked about what would be considered the Rolls Royce of vaping, and you're talking price?

Seriously?

To get back to the subject at hand...

I think a Vaping device that would be considered the "Rolls Royce" should have stunning good looks AND vape well.

Wood mod, or perhaps the Precise or Cube... I happen to prefer the more elegant, slimmer devices when looking at tube modes, but I also like variable voltage.

I still go back to an elegant, hand crafted wood mod, ala the Ali'i.

Only care because someone said you can't use a tank on a Darwin.
NOT TRUE

Later he said you'd have to spend close to $350 to get a tank to work on a Darwin.
NOT TRUE.

Since he quoted me in making that assumption, I'm somewhat obligated to show my math.

So...just showing my math.

To the OP...a RR is any mod that is appealing to you. Don't go by the price tag. If you find it eye appealing and it provides YOU the best hit there is for the way you vape...then that's a RR! Me, I've had all the high end mods except for a couple. Are they worth the money? To some yes, to others no...I'll stay neutral.

For me personally, I like dual coil or triple coil cartomizers at 6V. Mods with amp cutoffs, or whatever it is that shuts the mod down, won't allow what I really enjoy. There for, my favorite RR out of all the ones I own and have owned, happens to be a big beasty box mod...the Krescendo. Nothing fancy to it but it's what "I" like. Others will disagree, which is fine.

Don't base a mod by what it costs. Base it on what it can do for you in terms of vaping style and keeping you off cigs. If you're only looking at the price tag, you may very well end up with an expensive disappointment.

I would say the precise+. It uses rhodium connections for superior connectivity and less corrosion, which no other mod does, as far as I know. Lifetime transferable warranty. Got a scratch? No problem, just send it back to be reconditioned like new at no charge. Seamless machining and a flawless switch. Like butter. And it's beautiful to boot. The Darwin might work great, but I think the thing is fugly, sorry fanboys. And if we're talking about the Rolls Royce of PV's, it has to be beautiful.

The Darwin IS ugly. I have one and I vaped it once in front of my employees.
They said I looked like I was smoking a remote.
I said the right term is vaping and didn't say anything about the remote comment.
And, if you're talking about the current Roller, that's about as beautiful as a Pug.

I hope the op manages to sift through all these responses and is able to decide for himself what the RR of pvs will be for him. The problem with a question like this is that you will unvariably get many different opinions. Please remember that that is exactly what these responses are....opinions. The fact that some people get so defensive about their opinions simply attests to the fact that they are happy with the choice they went with. I had this same problem when I was trying to decide which vv to go with. A couple of responders got into an argument about which one was best and resorted to name calling. I managed to disregard their argument and select the pv that worked for me. I hope the op is as successful as I was in making a decision. There are many good choices out there. You'll just have to decide which features are most important to you.

Well said Tiger. Everyone has an opinion. Mine shows in my signature. Some opinions from people Junglegeorge has never heard as they have not happened upon the thread.

tigerlilly, you hit the nail on the head with your comments....at the end of the day the RR is the one that meets your needs.....

As an example, some want a PV that they feel is beautiful, others want a PV that is small, some want a PV that has a manual switch, some want a PV that is made out of wood, some want a PV that gives them the best, most consistant vape, and some want............. etc. etc. etc.

I hope the OP finds the PV of choice that becomes the RR. Heck, there are alot of vapers here in the ECF that have 10 or more PV in their collection, so there must be alot of RR's out there.....

Well worth seeing again....and my RR of choice is also listed in my signature......maybe when the OP finds the right RR it will also be shown in the signature line....
