Pete brought up an important point on the vertical. Your top (long) coil lead must go into the positive hole, or it will short on the air tube.

My horizontal shorted on the airtube a few weeks ago. I had been out in the cold with it for awhile. I came into the warm house, and boom, it shorted out! The change in temp caused the leads to weaken and the coil dropped down. It took me forever to figure out the problem.

Short intrusion here, but I have been reading this thread for a few days. I have been using KFL+'s for nearly a year with decent results. Also using them on istick 20w's, and have been more or less satisfied.

I am weary of the bottom fill mess and wanted to find an upgrade tank that was simple to top fill. You all have convinced me to try a Rose v2. I'm on a beer budget so I got this one after much web hunting: $29.24 (Ship from USA)Rose V2 Atomizer Clone by Pallas - Silver

I am anxious to try a verticle coil when it arrives and will be reviewing all this great instruction. Thank you all for helping me part with more of my money!

ETA just checked and focal shows em out of stock. Hope I got mine first!

You won't be disappointed , the Rose easily outshines my kayfun's in the flavor dept. , if you're gonna topfill I suggest you close off the juice flow control and block the air vent with your finger first or you'll flood it , found that out the hard way . :)

No, FC used to carry stumpy kits, but they don't anymore. Maybe try alibaba and see if someone will sell you one or two.

I think they have a min order of 10 but I tried them last week and couldn't register. I emailed the guy that Petemoss recommended and no answer.

The only thing I could suggest is to contact Pallas through Alibaba. Ted may not be the one handling sales now and another rep will respond. It's a shame that the Stumpy clone isn't being carried by any retailers. Guess the Rose is not that popular in the USA. The Rose2 was my first high-end atomizer and still remains my favorite.

It worked! 7-8 wraps of 29 AWG kanthal around a 2mm drill bit to get a 1.2 ohm vertical coil. I added an extra step to wrap a thin layer of rayon soaked with VG juice to form a thin cocoon around the coil. So far so good, no gurgling. Thanks roxy!

may I ask where you got those great scissor/snippers in the middle top section , with the red handles? I need something like that. :)

Love the Scissors actually, I use fiskers at the moment that have a bottle opener on them and comes with the sharpener in the case...they are I believe the multi purpose sheers that they have at wal-mart for like 12 bucks or something.

As for the Rayon vs Cotton here is what I've found...
Rayon is closer to a soft paper in wicking and material, it will draw the liquid faster through the fibers just by the nature of how its made. Also Rayon draws from the inside of the core out unlike cotton that draws from the outside in, one reason I like rayon is its nearly impossible to burn the wicking because the center core stays wet even under high heat.

Cotton draws from the outside in, its closer to fabric then paper in its absorbency and wicking properties. This makes it an ideal candidate for carto style builds. Though cotton and rayon both expand the minimal movement of the material itself should not really affect the wicking properties of your build.

You can use both interchangeably however the how is where it becomes a problem, I'd try micro spacing the coils if no space at all to build a "Wall" for the juice, try only packing around the coil and leaving space off the base of the mod which may help. Lets post some ideas on maybe how to resolve this issue if anyone has played around with it, I've given you everything I've got on this topic as I don't do kayfun style atomizers unless its the Goblin or SilverPlay personally.
