I was thinking of trying to get a Boston Cream donut vape. I tried Caps donut, and it was just pure overpowered chocolate to me, no donut taste at all. So I thought 'ok, I'll make it myself. I just need a nice sweet creamy texture, a delicate/non-overpowering chocolate, some vanillin, perhaps a few drops of sweetener, and a great dough base'. That dough base though.. I have no idea where to start.

I don't mean crust, graham, cookie, cupcake, cake batter, gingerbread, etc. I mean the semi-sweet, 'soft', and gentle taste of just dough, like a donut minus the toppings. When I start to put things together and mess around on paper/in my head, I always resort back to yellow cake, pound cake, etc, which just won't work. I can never get a good grasp on what I would need to do to get that flavor.

I think I tried that one and it did taste like a donut sort of...just one of those things I'd rather eat than vape. lol

I ran though a 15ml bottle and while it's certainly not bad, it's not so much donut as it is vanilla extract with a few minor additions to it. It's just a little too far away for me to say it's definitely a doughy, yeasty flavor; even with AP added (1 drop per 5ml to the final result).

I've struggled to find a good donut as well, so anyone who finds one, please clue me in!

Would it be fair to say that it tastes more like glaze and less like the dough itself?

The vanilla is stronger than anything for me and I'm 99% sure that's what it is with perhaps a bit of sweetener (although vanilla extract is actually semi-sweet itself, if produced from real vanilla beans). This seems more so like a slightly watered down extract with a few minor (and by minor, I mean minute and hard to identify) additions, if anything.

I have about 1ml of it left and it's beside me as I was working on a few recipes myself and happen to pull it out on accident. Gave 1-2 drops a taste test and don't get much out of it and my palate is clean as can be right now.

There's really no glaze and no true donut, or dough.

That said, I've not let this specific flavor steep/age more than 2-3 weeks. If something more comes from it in 2-3x that amount of time, I don't know.

Yeah definitely not what I'm looking for. I was hoping maybe it was least tasted like a dough-esque glaze so that I could try to combine it with other flavors, but it doesn't sound like it lol.

Maybe try the yellow cake with a tiny bit of vanilla cupcake.

I've mixed these together in the past, and it just ends up tasting like what it is, a vanillay/cupcakey cake thing. Dough doesn't taste like vanilla on its own. I'm sure theres sugar and vanillin inside the dough, but it has it's own yeasty and mild flavor.

Thank you sir. So how have I never heard of these guys? Are they rehashed TFA or something along those lines, or just a legit company that I'm totally unaware of?

Yep - Not sure what it tastes like though. I have my eye on it and I may be ordering both of the following soon:

https://www.ecigexpress.com/bread-crust-by-flavourart.html

https://www.ecigexpress.com/fruit-express-pear-10ml-6295.html

I don't know much about Flavor Express though, so anyone have any info on them?

Stay away from the FA Bread Crust. Well, its not fair to say that just yet. I've yet to start mixing it, but the smell is ridiculously intense. I can see where they got the 'crust' part of it, but its also really burnt-y smelling and theres something else unpleasant in there as well.

I tried the FA Bread Crust too it was awful. There was an overwhelming smell of garlic. I even had my family smell it without telling them what it was and they all said "smells like garlic bread in a bottle gross!". Not wanting to give up I put one drop in a 3ml VG/PG mix and it tasted exactly how it smelled. It was disappointing, I've been searching for that bready dough type flavor for a long time.
