Morning hope all had a good fourth, yes yes yes yes and one big no. So Brad had me over and I got two racks of ribs to cook on his grill, for the first attempt on his small grill they came out good (propane) and still got wood to work. So ribs, hamburgers, beans, and baked potatoes.
Chris and his girlfriends daughter came with her boyfriend. I have a job to apply to today as Chris said they just lost a cook that yesterday. Called in sick but was seen walking around in his uniform, a long way from his house, so not sure about that one (speaking of common
sense JPF)
So we are eating talking having a good time, Brad said for the 3rd the fireworks went on until 1 in the morning, freaking their dog out and waking the baby making mom mad. Anyway the fireworks started before dark, Casper was outside but just with two going off was howling to go back in to hide. He is usually outside playing.
As it gets dark, and in the past you always had a few that popped them off in the city limits thinking, your advertising in the air where they should come and give you a ticket. Last night it was as if the entire city was in a 4th revolt. A 360 view to watch and I thought. Wow a lot of money, we were even hit by firework debris there was so much. For a straight hour at least there was not a moment in which you did not hear something popping.
As if the whole city was saying "Hey cops not doing your jobs anyway, what are you going to do ticket the whole city?" Is it people fed up for four months no job and stuck at home so long why not? But lively enough it made me think New York for a moment.
The baby fell asleep and it was getting late, Brad his son and I were laughing so hard about something he brought up, but man its gross so probably will pass on that story. So get my things together and a big platter of leftovers for today.
I head out, Brad is following like usual to make sure things are okay, and just as the gate was open and the screen door slowly closing but not done, Casper their dog freaking over the sounds jets down the road. I walked slowly in the dark down the block about 16 houses and of course others were out watching. So I ask if they saw him, yes and ran to a major street right behind their houses no alley.
We both drove around and did not find him, Brad was in near tears he lost his friend, and you could tell he was really sick to his stomach. Poor little fella so scared, probably ran until tuckered out. Hope he comes back home, or finds another good one. No doggie body on the street so he did not get hit at least by then.
Talked to another set of neighbors he said not a problem they will keep an eye open, and he said his 11 year old daughter is an animal lover as in animals love her. She has treated back to health dogs, cats, kittens, puppies, two neighborhood bunnies play with the animals but no to humans, came right to her, even two sick ducks, hey human we pick you were hungry. Talk about talent.
So all good but just that last moment, fireworks all the way back on the drive, the movie Sandlot type stuff..... hope yalls was good.
