hey guys,
thanks for your help the other day. instead of me rushing, i took an extra day and placed my order today.

please help me review, and let me know if you think i'll need anything else.

i plan on getting some mason jars to store the nic, pg, and vg later. speaking of that, i've read that i can store this is a dark cool dry place, but all recent threads say i should store in the freezer. is one better than the other?

anyway, heres my first order.

Propylene Glycol - USP Kosher - 1 Gallon pg-1gal1
Nicotine Solution - 100mg Liter Base Liquid 100% Propylene Glycol USP Kosher NIC-100L-100pg1

i got the 10ml syringes cause i think that will allow me to measure more accuratly than a 30ml syringe.

also, considering i'll only be using a few drops per mix, so i think this should last me a good while before i need to buy more.

thanks guys.

Welcome, and congratz on your first step towards DIY mastery. You'll probably want some 1ml syringes for more precise measuring of nic and flavor concentrates than you'll be able to achieve with the 10ml ones. And 14g needles are okay for VG, but you might want some 18g ones for the PG and nic (and flavors, assuming they're PG-based like the nic) since PG is much thinner than VG. Aside from that, it looks like you're on the right track. Be sure to let us know how it goes, once you receive the order and get to mixing.

As for freezer storage, just the nic should go in the freezer. You're trying to prevent (or at least minimize) oxidation, and when dealing with any chemical reaction, the colder the slower. Wherever you decide to store it, ideally you should transfer it into dark (brown/amber or blue/cobalt) glass bottles, to limit oxygen exposure since any plastic will allow oxygen to seep through and oxidize the nic. PG/VG you'll be fine just keeping in a cool dark place, and you probably do not want to freeze the flavor concentrates or any premixed liquid that has them in.

Welcome to DIY-land!!!

It's mighty awesome :D

Sounds like you got some good stuff with which to start. Since many of your flavors are TPA/TFA, you might want to read through Bill's Magic Vapor's blogs. E-Cigarette Forum - Bill's Magic Vapor - Blogs

He recommends a number of flavorings to use in combination with your "primaries" to enhance and fill-out those base flavors. Things like creams/vanillas get added as "secondary" notes. You may not notice they're there, but they will enhance your mixes. There are also a number of recipes he freely shares (of which I've made about a dozen, and they are KILLER!)

Come visit the TFA thread as well http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/336110-flavor-apprentice-flavoring-thread.html as there's lots of lively discussion and many other members who also share their recipes.

Take a gander at Hoosier and Dannyv45's blogs for tips and tricks on basic mixing techniques as well. I use a lot of TFA flavorings and subscribe to some of Bill's methodologies, and I've had great success.

WOO HOO!!!! Vape on! :vapor:

thanks for the info guys.

where can in find some 1ml syringes and some 18g needles bwh?

dinger
i will read those tonight. seems like i have a lot of reading to do.

this first batch is to mimic swagger. i love that stuff but its so freaking expensive in Houston i just had to start dyi if i wanted to keep vaping.

from your experience, aprox how long does a liter of nic at 100mg along w/ 1gal of pg and vg each last?

i typically vape 2 or 3 Aspire Atlantis 2ml tanks a day.

im sure after this give this a go, i'll be buying all types of flavors.

Where'd you get the 10ml's and the 14g's? You can get them from various DIY vendors such as NudeNicotine.com, WizardLabs.us, etc.

What strength liquid to you vape, and how much? At my 6mg/ml, 1L of 100mg nic would make over 16L of eliquid, or more than five hundred 30ml bottles. I would need far more than a gallon each of PG/VG, and it would last me many many years, since I only go through about a ml or two each day.

I never use needles just droppers I have big 2 ml ones that I bought somewhere.
This might be a good one.
2ML DROPPER

Keep your eye on this place, Scientific Surplus great stuff.
American Science & Surplus : Items Just Off the Truck

I bought 4 oz bottles, big plastic syringes there.
Shipping is exorbitant though.

By the way I began with Flavor Apprentice but quickly moved to
Nature's Flavors for my flavoring needs. Look under coffee and tea flavorings.
This is the section you want.
Flavor for Coffee
Flavor for Tea

Threw the artificial stuff in the trash.
I like the natural stuff much more.

Some tricks to make it easy.

1. 100mg nicotine is 3.33mg per ml for a 1 ounce bottle
So for example if you put 2ml into a 30 Ounce Bottle then you'll have 6.66mg
2. 1st put in your Flavors and 2nd put in your nicotine solution. After that Just fill to the top of the bottle with your
VG PG or VG/PG solution.
If you are going to use a PG VG mix. Just mix the VG and PG separately to the level you like
in a separate bottle and keep for the future. Keep it simple..
3. If you use artificial flavors let them steep a week or so, Natural Flavors don't need steeping.

Congrats on getting into DIY. I started at the beginning of 2014 and have not bought vendor juice since. :) -If that M-Type does not suit your taste, there are many great tobacco flavors from Hangsen and Inawera. IMO, the hardest part of DIY is finding your go-to recipes, but you will find them eventually. Good luck! :vapor:

Nic base is cheaper in bulk. I get 100 mg nic that I transfer in 125 ml brown bottles. I wrap each bottle in a ziplock bag and then put 3 of them in another ziplock bag. I have 2 lunch boxes full that I keep in my deep freezer. That way they are seperated away from the food....and I can grab them in case of a fire! LOL

thanks cocacola.

i got the 1 liter bottle of nic at 100mg as well. i have some 1 pint mason jars i plan to xfer them to. i also have some quart size mason jars for the gal of pg and vg.

i'm about to load the boat on nic after this first order. think i'll store it in the freezer in the garage.

i'll be pretty set for the vape-ocalypse.

off subject, but when i normally buy my juice from a b/m store, other than Swagger, its made right there in front of me. they don't steep it.
1 question. the first store i use to go to i had to stop because the flavor only was tasteable for a day or so. the new store i go to, they made it on the spot and i can taste the flavor for the life of the bottle. this is what i want to recreate. not that toilet water i was getting ripped off with.

heres the question, are there recipes for juice that can be used immediately? i want to be able to vape as soon as i create it w/o having to wait a week.

any links would be appreciated.
