How does scripture support it? The video left out the part where the bodies of the two prophets would lie in the public square of Jerusalem for 3 days. How could all of Israel and the entire church lay in the entire city of Jerusalem at any time, much less in the "public square"?

LOL! I don't know!

This 'scripture' was immediately quickened to me when you posed that question:

Matthew 24:15 (KJV): “So when you see standing in the holy place 'the abomination that causes desolation,' spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand.”

The phrase “abomination of desolation” refers to Matthew 24:15 (KJV): “So when you see standing in the holy place 'the abomination that causes desolation,' spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand.” This is referring to Daniel 9:27, “He will confirm a covenant with many for one 'seven.' In the middle of the 'seven' he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on a wing [of the temple] he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.”

Could it possibly mean that this symbolizes the death of the two witnesses? (Israel and the Church?)

And their dead bodies as in meaning temporarily silenced? shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. Rev 11:8

I interpret this as meaning the Anti-Christ will 'silence' us, and we'll appear to be 'dead' (as in having no voice or power... as in temporarily silenced)... but after (three days as Jonah was in the belly of the Whale and Christ in the belly of the Earth).. He will resurrect us?

My mom just emailed me and told me this. I have no idea what to make of it, I really dont know much about this kind of thing.

"Another thing to throw into the mix: alot of the prophesy is about the destruction of Jerusalem. The Roman army came and camped around the city, stayed a while, then left. (peace and security) Then, several years later, the Roman army returned and this time they entered Jerusalem and killed everyone and destroyed the Temple. Now, Jesus warned the Jews of this coming destruction when he was in Jerusalem. He said that the time will come when not one stone would be left standing upon the other. The Jews left Jerusalem and hid in caves, etc. When they saw the first army leave, they thought it was now safe and alot returned to Jerusalem. Some, however, stayed in hiding and were saved from destruction. When you apply this destruction to the time we are living in now and its destruction, it is called the later fulfillment. Revelation, having been written in 90 AD is 100% referring the destruction of our time, since the destruction of Jerusalem was in 70 AD. There is a name for the event and then later the shadow of the event. To me, It has never been adequately separated (the destruction of Jerusalem prophesy and the earth destruction prophesy). "

The Abomination of Desolation is when the anti-christ, 3 1/2 years into the 7 year Tribulation, walks into the Holy of Holies in the rebuilt Temple and declares himself to be God, and demands the world worships him. Matthew 24:15-17; Daniel 9:27; Daniel 12:11.

Yes... this is correct.

When I came in, I explained that I believed the Bible to be the Word of God inerrant in the original. When symbolism is used, it's generally explained in the passage or somewhere else. I read in Revelation that there are 2 witnesses (not groups of witnesses). They will be killed. The two prophets will lie in the public square for 3 days. And you used an example of what I was talking about.

"the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified." Now, we know that our Lord was not crucified in Sodom or Egypt. The city where He was crucified was Jerusalem, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt. The explanation is right there in black and white.

I also explained that I believe that the church will be raptured before the tribulation. This event with the 2 witnesses occur at the halfway point of the tribulation. To say that Israel will rise into the clouds at that time is a subtle form of "replacement theology". If they leave, then who calls on the Lord to return because He will not return until Israel calls on Him saying "Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord".

You're absolutely right..... I think God is very 'clear' on the most important things. Thanks for keeping me 'grounded' Chimney... I receive your wise Instruction and counsel. Thank-you.

Your mom has a good point. Frequently, prophets would give a soon to be fulfilled prophecy and a far reaching one. The soon to be fulfilled prophecy would show Israel that they were a true prophet. God was VERY intolerant of false prophets---just one false prophecy and they were to be stoned. There are several prophecies that show double fulfillment. Daniel foretold of a time when there would be an abomination of desolation in the temple. There was a near-time fulfillment before the birth of Christ when Antiochus Epiphanes went into the temple when they had invaded Israel, erected a statue of himself, and sacrificed pigs on the alter. When the Jews were able to take the temple back, they cleansed it, and a miracle happened there. This is the story of the "festival of lights" or Hanukkah. The abomination of desolation did not take place at the time that the Romans destroyed the temple. It was many years before. In fact, Jesus "celebrated" or observed the festival of lights. The second fulfillment of this prophecy will occur in the middle of the tribulation period.

Thank you, SC. It was Daniel 12 that I was also looking for.

Daniel 12:11-13:
11 “And from the time that the daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days. 12 Blessed is he who waits, and comes to the one thousand three hundred and thirty-five days.

13 “But you, go your way till the end; for you shall rest, and will arise to your inheritance at the end of the days.”

This was the rest of the prophecy. The part that wasn't fulfilled at the time of Antiochus Epiphanes.

I must have misread something......so sorry. Battling bad sinuses today. Hubby has been sick all week and business stuff has been on me, plus craft fair this weekend. Without him I can't pull this off, so I had to cancel my space. And as yucky as I feel today, I really don't care much. I'm headed for the couch to lay down, folks. Hope to be back later.

(((hugs))) Saints! I'm sorry that you're not feeling well (and with so much going on). It sounded like you were really looking forward to the craft fair this weekend, but it's probably for the best that you canceled your space. I hope that you have a good rest. I'm fixin' to do the same thing.

I"m so lost it's a shame. It's a really good thing that my faith isn't based on biblical knowledge or I'd be in big trouble! LOL! :)

You're right. Our salvation isn't based on what we know, but what we believe. We believe that Christ's sacrifice on the cross was sufficient to pay for all of our sins.

I don't think it's sinuses. I think I have cellulitis in my nose. I had to take a pain pill when I first got up this morning and I think I'm running a little fever. So, wouldn't have been able to do the Craft Fair anyway. I've had this a couple of times in my life, so if you have it once, you remember what it feels like. Dr. not in today, but will go and see a nurse practitioner. Cellulitis isn't something to toy around with....especially on the face as any swelling can go to the brain and then you're in deep hooey....instant being put in the hospital with a possibility of death. Sooooooooooo, will go see the nurse pract. today, otherwise I'll be in the E.R. this weekend. satan has really been after my family this week. Think husband had flu and now this. Too bad, he's going into the lake of fire! What a glorious day that will be!
