So I've been using my Joye 510 attys since late December, and while none of them have actually died, they're not vaping very well either. I'm not giving up on them (yet), but I'm getting frustrated with fiddling with them.
They've been soaked (Crest Pro-Health mouthwash or hot water, or both), blown out, dried out, dry-burned, numerous times each. They do work, just not very well. On a dry-burn, only a tiny part glows, even after exhausting a fresh battery on it. So I'm thinking they're not gonna get any better, and they're meant to be disposable after all. I had one brand new one that I used for the first time this week, and man what a difference ! I'd forgotten how good it could be. I'm not throwing away the others, but I just want to say "Enough already". I don't think they'll ever be 'like new' again. And I'm gonna quit expecting them to be. Thoughts ?

I have had luck on one of about 5 that I tried to Animate Dead. This was short lived for about 5 minutes of vaping, then couldn't reanimate as I am apparently no Atty Wraith. (I am rolling just about straight 1s on a d20.)

You're rolling ones?? You sir need to make a fort save.

Back on topic did you try the needle poke thru thing?

Needle split up the wick in the coil?

I tried once, with no luck.

I keep hearing about dry burning to remove adhering juice from the coil, yet unable to find the happy spot and get them working again.

(2nd edition rules [and I believe 1st also] were, I believe save vs. death, poison, spells, rods, petrification, paralysis, & breath. I never played with > 2nd edition rules aside from DDO, Dark Sun Online, or Neverwinter Nights. In these however the die was a /dev/random [/dev/urandom] I never had to call, just click.)

the coil should all heat up.. if part of it is.. most likely it is coated with burnt up fluid..

since they are to the point they are trash to you.. try this.. it worked on mine that did that.. do a few dry burns.. until the area that is glowing glows fast within 1-2 seconds.. get it hot and while it is hot drip 1 drop of pg or vg on it..

when i did that mine made a sound like tossing a steak on a hot pan then a cloud of vapor.. and the rest of the coil lit up glowing.. soaked it for 5 mins in grain alcohol after that was working again like new

if they are sizzling and popping that is because they are still cooking away juice.. it takes awhile.. a few that i had that where real bad i sat for 30 mins watching tv and heating and cooling the atty.. you might also want to try to get it hot and put a drop of fluid on the atty

or if you dont want to bother there is a post on here of someone that is restoring attys and will take 2 dead attys and send you a refurbished one.. but it is only good for dripping..

Two months is pretty good. If you have a multimeter you can get a better idea of where they are.
I just stick those in a baggie for future emergencies.

Birmingham huh. Hello neighbor, Homewood here.

Hi Wireguy. Yes, I figure I'll save the weak ones for emergencies. But it sure would feel good to throw them in the trash; I've realized now what I've been missing with a good one ! And you're right, 2 months isn't bad.

I wanted highping's method to work, so I followed it step by step. I'm not sure how you know when an atty 'pops', but it doesn't sound good so I was very careful not to overdo it. Maybe I didn't do it enough, but dang, I used up a fresh battery on it ! Not sure it's worth all this. They can't last forever, after all.
I think my husband has one of those meters, so maybe I'll check it out.

Did you try following the exact instructions here?
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tips-tricks/69834-my-atty-resurrection-method.html

I did...and after a second wash the coil slowly got all red. If it doesnt work you can always turn those atties into dripper ones ONLY. Just remove the bridge, the yucky fibers, gently run a paper clip through the coil to get the "debris" out..and you have a new dripper only atomizer.

No more dead atties here.

Zuel, your avatar creeps me out ! 8-o

I'm not that great at the names of all the parts inside the atty....but whatever the part is that turns orange when it's properly energized. I get just a tiny part to glow, and sometimes not even that. Or I won't even see that much until I blow on it, then it flares up for a second or two.
