The VHO Cronus, or: I think I'm in love, but she'll be an expensive date.

So I'm looking at getting a new mechanical mod. I tend to think about my mod purchases very carefully, and I only own three (EA mod, Galileo, and Galileo USA). I did own a Smoktech Telescope, but I was curious how the brass underneath looks, so I kinda tore it apart real good. Anyway, I've been scouring the internet looking for a good mod to add to the collection, trying to avoid China clones and knockoffs. I think I've found the mod I've been looking for... the VHO Cronus.

However, at over 220 dollars (almost the price of a GGTS), I want to know a few details before I take the plunge. Does anyone know much about this mod? Quality? Diameter? Longevity? There's amazingly little information about this one online.

Can someone tell me that my wallet won't hate me too much?

That's a lot of dough for a metal tube with a button. If you like it you like it. There is one I am looking at too that I would like to have but it is sick money as well for a metal tube. Granted in my eyes it is the prettiest metal tube but that is all it is a pretty metal tube for big bux. It does not do anything for me that my current KTS Storm does not but it is so purrrrrty.

Dude if you like it and have the money to burn and it does not affect conscience then get it. After all itsonly a cheap car payment right? LOL

Wrong... Not a cheap car payment in my case. I used to spend around $220.00 a month on smokes alone before I quit. (1 carton a week @ $55.00 a carton) At least you'll have something to show for the $$ with a nice mod, instead of empty cig packs, ashes, and butts.. ;)

I think it's a bit overpriced for what it is but so is the Aluminum version (Titan) so if you like that look/style then go for it. I can't tell you much about it besides what the description says. I do doubt it has the quality and craftsmanship of a similarly priced GGTS. I didn't keep my GGTS but as soon as I picked it up and messed with it for a bit, I could tell why the price was where it was at.

I thought I got lucky when I found that they're selling for a little over 160 on the VapeHead Origins website... until I realized the cheapest shipping they offer to the States is 74 dollars. haha, and I thought 24 bucks coming from France was a bit crazy!

Fury, I have a lot of respect for the GGTS, I just don't really want one. I feel it's a good "standard" to go by, and compare others too, though. In that sense, this is probably a bit overpriced. The Titan is apparently a good mod, and this is just a stainless steel version of that. I think I'm done with aluminum mods, though. I love my Galileo, but I think stainless is the way to go.

I sold my ggts, I just use it as my standard for how a $200 plus battery mod should feel.

It's all what it's worth to you. Besides if you really want it, what I think doesn't matter.

I own a Cronus and love it! What questions do you have? I can try to answer them. It's sturdier than the Titan, feels very solid compared to it's predecessor. I'd say at least twice as heavy after holding both. I'd say the Titan and Sentinel would be a fair comparison weight wise (aluminum tubes). I enjoy the added weight of stainless steel, but to each their own. The end caps are upgraded- both top and bottom are solid brass for better conductivity. The pin floats, so no worries about crushing batteries, finger tight twists will work. The threads are good, not butter smooth, but also not cheap where you are worried to strip them. Machining of the grooves are amazingly sharp in a good way! Is it worth the extra $$ over any of the other mechanicals? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I suppose. I, like you, don't like the aluminum feel so I paid the bonus bucks. I feel this mod will last a lot longer than other due to its metal composition. Been using it exclusively for a week now, carried in my pocket (w/ keys, iPhone, coins) topped with a nimbus, and it shows no signs of wear besides microscopic blemishes where the atomizer and batteries touch the pin. With a 18490/18500 it hits hard all day for me (approximately 150 hits 2-3 seconds each). The button spring is smooth and I've never mis-fired yet even when trying. Locking ring is pretty cool, easy to use and faster to activate vs other mods IMO.

If I had to do it all again knowing what I know now and given the choice of any mod in it's price range, I might only take the N-Zonic over it. I like the look a little better as the Cronus kind of tapers off. That's about the only gripe, albeit minor. Nothing a sweet drip tip can't fix.

Hope that helps.
