A multimeter is often recommended to check the voltage of batteries. Several vendors carry some very cute ones. Also, Harbor Freight Tools carries them and is probably the cheapest hardware type store. The good news is that there are a few videos on how to use them for checking resistance of attys and cartos or voltage of batteries.

But, at last, there is a new dual bay charger called the Efest LUC that has a display. I don't think the battery guru's have reviewed it yet, but this just might become a popular charger. It shows the voltage when one starts the charge and has other indicators showing it is charging and when it is done, with the final 4.2volts.

I sure hope this LUC passes the test with the experts over at the candle light forum, it is wonderful having these features.

Guys, if you haven't tried an A7 RBA on your Vmod XL, you don't know what you are missing.

I just got one today, and played around building coils with Nichrome 60 1/64th ribbon wire and 1mm Ekowool. I hit a 2.1 ohm coil on the first try. I'm seeing a 20-30% increase in vapor over the Hybrid and Cisco atomizers. It does go through juice faster, and the vape is noticeably warmer.

Gone for a couple days...
and new members and J wraps arrive !
(hi new folks :thumb::thumb:)

Vodka bath and a soft paintbrushng of the coils brought the Vapage Atomizer back to life !
Yea ! I saved one.

Used my vmods...an XL and a 2.0 exclusively this weekend.
all day Saturday in the toll booth, held up perfectly.
Changed batteries before...
Saturday Night, DJ'ed a wedding.
Sunday, hiked a local mountain...2600'
(amazing that I could even do that this year, couldn't do it 'smoking' last year- would have killed me !)

Love Vaping, and my vMods !!!

Hi More !
I cleaned mine by a vodka bath soak for a couple of days...shaking every day or so...
Dried it, dry burned it by putting it in the vMod-and hitting the fire button till it just started to glow,
Let it cool, fired again....4-5 times till it glowed evenly all over the coil...
Just a couple seconds at a time, and let it cool in between.
Then I brushed the coil with a small watercolor brush to get the ash out, a rinse with vodka...
Dry and it was just like new....maybe even a little better...
It didn't require a day to into it's good Vaping groove this time !

I do think the Vapage attys are good and seem to last and last !

Just ordered a "color changing snakeskin" wrap from J-Wraps for one of my silver (has a nick or two) XL shells! Super excited! I might very well end up getting more wraps...but want to see how this one goes, first.

I've successfully cleaned shifu atties with vodka. I just soaked mine a couple of hours. Gently shook out and blew out the liquid then sat the atomizer in a carto condom half...put enough juice in to cover the coils and let it sit a couple of minutes, poured off the excess and started vaping. Worked good. A bit nervous about "dry burning". I've done it with some things, but am not sure with the slant coils that it's a good idea?

Got it in yesterday and honestly I have to say that so far I am not impressed. I am using the atty as the carto taste just like my tank cartos and I really wanted something a little different so decided to try the atty. i seem to not have any problem with the sqonking, but after every three to five draws or a little more, i get a nasty dry hit then squeeze again and i am great for a few more with great flavor. I am doing the recommended things by tilting and lowering as I draw but still dry hits periodically when using the atty and finding I have to feed it pretty often. I seem to be putting plenty juice because e when I find I do more than usual it will flood. I have an awful gag reflex and dry hits are one thing I can't deal with, only having it for a few hours I was ready to put it up for sale or trade BUT a little sweet birdie told me I need to be more determined :D. So I have decide to give it a little more time, we shall see. Love the concept though. Hoping my Vmod and I can come to some type of mutual adoration :). LOL
Keep on keeping on!! Still glad I got it as it will hopefully give me an idea if bottom feeders are for me or not without having to break the bank to do it. Fingers crossed. We will spend a lot of time together this weekend.

"Tweet tweet" ... LOL!! ;-)

OK Veteran VModers ... Help needed for Crocky! :D I provided all the pointers I could think of (along with my LONG learning curve and things not to do that I DID in the beginning! Haha!). Anybody else that can add some helpful advice? ... Besides my "just keep at it" and soon it will become second nature! Hang in there Crocky ... I'm sure some others will chime in with help! ;-)

Kattttttt, tearose, AT ... Some of our new VModers ... Crocky needs some words of wisdom and support! :)

I do have advice, tho some may not like it. Whenever ANY device is not to my liking, I have learned (and it only took me 2 years to learn ) to walk away. Seriously, just set it down and vape something else and come back to it. Being nice to a mod, feeding it well, giving it pats and telling it it's beautiful just doesn't work. A lot of us (at least I'm hoping I'm not alone here...) seem to search out that great vape and when we don't find it, we try HARDER. More voltage, more eliquid, a new carto! It starts to feel almost desperate. Ever had a day or a nite when you couldn't taste anything at all?? What do I do? I vape MORE! LOL!

Reckless abandon. Just walk away... vape something else... then come back to it some other time.

See? Told you you might not like it. ;)

Also... Crocky, any atomizer needs a break in period. Whether the coil is sandwiched in carto filler, or hanging out naked on an debridged atomizer. They all need a bit of time. I normally baby my topper for the first day or so. Baby=low voltage, minimal vaping, raising the voltage little by little, good feeding.

I'm not surprised that the carto in the VMOD tasted similar to a tanked carto. Have you used atomizers before this or only cartos? If you're not used to direct dripping, you may find that it feels like every few hits. In fact, it actually CAN be every few hits. Dripping's not for everyone, that's fer sure.

I do hope you find your sweet spot with the VMOD. I think you will... in time. Have a lovely weekend together! :D

 wisdom?

Here's a thought -- I learned how to drip on an atty before I encountered bottom feeders. That helped me know a lot more about when to feed as it taught me to learn when an atty needs liquid, as well as when it gets too much.

You may do just fine with a bit more practice. You may soon get used to a small tap feed every 4 or 5 puffs. As we all draw differently and for various seconds in length, it's hard to judge "how many puffs" per feed. Soon, it becomes second nature as one works out the timing for themselves.

Also, my vape style is quite different than what I did with the long white paper covered thingys. I tend to do a few short puffs and then inhale with most of my equipment. Learning of this style was a lifesaver for me and solved several issues of the day.

And Kat sneaked in with Special K advice while I was typing. Another good reason to carry a back up, or 4. :vapor:

Seeeeeeeee ... I KNEW my VMod Girlies would chime in ... And with GREAT words of wisdom! Yep Katttt ... I already advised of the "atty break-in period". And very good point tearose! I used an atty quite a bit before moving to bottomfeeding with my VMod! Crocky wasn't liking the "carto" taste ... And it's the same taste on a VMod if ya don't like the "filler" taste. That's why I suggested she might really like the taste using an atty. ME ... I like both ... But I REALLY like my VMod (and bottomfeeders in general) because I like the taste of my juice using an atty! :D

I do like my cartos but just need more tanks....LOL. I have used a dripping atty (cheap one) for testing juices but I will say only a few times and I hated it. Taste was ok but it was very inconsistent when needing refilling.

I ended up putting it away yesterday after a a handful of hours and picked it back up today however I think I may not try it again until our scheduled date of Saturday.

The good thing is I don't baby any of them so that won't be an issue ;). I have a few back ups as well or rather my main go to's right now to keep me comfortable and happy! I love my billet box as well as my MVP and am losing the love for my zmax simply for the tube shape.

Hoping my experience gets better and I do appreciate all your advice!! Deb you have been a gem with helping me out. i just need to find my groove! If not then we may have to part ways but I am not giving up so soon! I like easy and have found that when I vape I like no hassle vaping :)

For what it's worth: I dreamed of getting a Vmod for over 6 months before I actually got one, but when I finally did get one, I was seriously considering selling it on the classies within hours of receiving it. It seemed to burn everything up, tasted horrible! Well...after stewing and mourning over what appeared to be an uber fail over that weekend...I did try again (before listing it) The "saga" was recorded pretty much here http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...t-my-xl-vmod-kit-houston-we-have-problem.html I was not a dripper previous to getting the Vmod. The closest I ever got to dripping was using a T-tank on an ego and a 901-T on a KR808D-1. I would take the filling out of a cartomizer and make an improvised "atomizer" for testing my juice when I first started DIY. But that was about it. I was a cartomizer gal all the way. And carto tanks were my preferred "weapon of choice". (I have tried clearomizers and their cousins...wasn't impressed).

Okay..enough background. It took me a bit to get the squonking thing down. I figured out that FOR ME...the best way was to hold the Vmod basically parallel (near my ear) and give the merest of tiny squeezes until I heard a litte ""yerp" then things were fine. I would start a new bottle by turning the Vmod upside down and waiting for bubbles...but the squeeze (such as it is) seems to do best holding the bottle horizontal..not tipped. I used the Silo cartos and the "super shorty" cartos (from DV and MV).

It was two months of using the Vmod before I really tackled the atomizers. And the only way I got them working the way I wanted was after I discovered to NOT tip the Vmod nose down to squonk. When new they do take more diligent squonking...but as they break in, they level off. The squonking itself has become sort of second nature. If I do manage to flood, usually a long gentle squeeze of the bottle (holding it upright) with slow release sucks the juice back down into the bottle so the the atomizer unclogs and vapes okay. Sometimes I have to take it out and gently blow it out to clear and dab a tissue on the connector. But not all that often.

If "spitting" is an issue, using a knucklehead drip tip helps a lot. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...iscussion/421200-one-best-tips-vmod-ever.html

It took me several days to get my groove with the Vmod...but since I have, nothing else really can compare. It's by far my favorite and most used mod!

Ah, those objects of our affections. Hence, they are often quickly realized as an object of affliction! I concur and bow to all the Wise Women of V-modia ~ different strokes, techniques, etc for different folks and all that jazz. Bottom line, it's up to you! My only advice is...curiosity! Try adopting an approach of wonderment. If I do this, it does that. Why did it do that? Ah, ok. I see. Let's try this. More importantly, make sure you're in a position to experiment and approach...relaxed, not stressed, etc. Also, there is that little thing called women's intuition...;)
