Carts are filled by three main methods. The condom method, using a syringe and a simple drip/drop way. For me, filling the condom (rubber boot) and placing the carto in (either end) is messy. A syringe is a hassle. I find simply removing the rubber end and filling with drops down the side while rotating my preferred method of filling. You will want to fill until the juice just barely pools on the top for a full refill without overflow. Let it sit for a good half hour-hour before using to allow for a proper wick. I just top off my carts at night before going to bed and let them soak up overnight. The next morning I may drop a cou ple in just to be sure.

As for refilling pre-filled carts yes! Either use the same flavor or one that compliments. I havent found a way of fully cleaning out old flavors from cartos worth the time and effort. At less than $2 a pop just buy some blanks or refill with flavors that blend well. For example I refilled a chocolate with peanut buttercup and a 555 with ry4. As long as you keep them moist they will last 5-10 refills or more. I have some that went through 10ml of fluid and still going. Just keep them wet! Hope that helps.

thanks for that info biz. its been a really long time since i used cartos, i use 357 attys myself. my problem with cartos was filling and punching when i used tanks. alot of new stuff has come out since then and i see that smokeless has tanks that look simple to use.
im not so sure she will be into the bigger batts as she started with an ego-t and moved to a reo mini. i think the ego-t she liked better but they had no pre filled cartos and i hated that cause i did all her filling, lol. i thought i had the perfect mod for her in the reo as that is what i use but she doesnt really like the shape and size of it so much. she just wants something simple and small that will work and this just may be it.

I am still using my original Volt batteries that I bought back in August. I bought 5 or 6 more for back up but have not used them because the first 2 are still going strong. I use them all day, every day. As far as the cartos go, I get the prefilled ones and buy matching juice to top them off with. Because I vape Volts RY4 as my all day and don't switch flavors a carto lasts me at least 2 weeks and I think they would last longer if I wanted.

Hey, 'sooner! The cartos can be filled/refilled like any other carto; pick your method. These are the best 808 cartos that I've ever used. I buy blanks and fill mostly with Vermillion River and some Ms T's; also a couple of Virgin Vapor flavors. The prefilled are the same carto, and actually cost the same as the blanks.
The 78mm batts will last through the better part of a filled carto. (80% ?) Not sure about life expectancy--the ones I got 8-9 months ago are still going strong.
SI's X2 batteries are also excellent, and the clearomizer tanks (can be used on the X2 and the 65mm and 78mm batts) are easy to fill/use, and don't leak, as long as you use clearomizer-friendly liquids.

You could get a one of the sampler paks. That's what I did to figure out which one I liked. If she likes more of the tobacco ones try the Smooth Sampler

Smokeless Image | Only The Best Electronic Cigarette | Smooth Sampler - Cartomizers (5pk) - Refill Cartridges

i started out with tobacs myself as thats what i thought i needed to kick the habit but moved on to try many different flavors before getting lucky and finding my everyday vape in strawberry shortcake.
another question... how many batts should one keep around? i only ordered her one and now im thinking she may need another one or 2 to perhaps rotate. its easier on her as she is home all day so doesnt have to worry about being out and having a batt die.

Forgot to mention. My 78 manual will go pretty much all day at work using it as if normal smoke breaks. I would guess 2-3+ hours of actual use. I have yet to fully drain it during a normal work day. I chain vape my 65mm auto while at night playing xbox. Zero nic of course and I usually kill the batt after 2.5 hours of constant heavy use.

Filling cartos is really easy. I prefer holding them at an angle and dripping down the sides as was described in another post. Condom filling is simple in concept but it does make a mess and waste juice IMO.

When I first started, I used to fill 4 or 5 cartos and rotate them out until I got to the last one and refilled again so I didn't have to do it as often. Now, I prefer to just use one and carry a small bottle of juice with me so I can refill it as needed. One carto lasts me 2 weeks. It doesn't actually die-I have been using these for almost 11 months now and haven't killed a single one-but it starts to get a different taste. That is why I quit rotating them. The longer you keep one wet the less tasty the vape gets so rotating them makes each one last longer, but I still had to clean them every 2 weeks or so anyway.

They can be cleaned and reused. Boil water and remove from heat, then soak them, blow them out, and let dry overnight. It works well as long as you are using the same flavor or one that mixes well (mint gets almost totally clean, but I never got rid of vanilla).

For what they cost, after 2 weeks of use I don't bother cleaning them anymore I just replace. I do save some just in case I ever do need to clean them. Peace of mind if they are out of stock or I'm broke when I need them lol.

I have bought new batteries to have different colors, but I still have the ones I bought in June 2011 and they do still work. They do seem to not hold a charge as long as they used to but otherwise they are in good shape so I keep them for backups. These things are durable as all getout. I haven't tried any of the new bigger bats. I get about 4-5 hours between charges.

thank you all, im thinking some various colored batts are in order
Yup. You're a smart man, you are. The colors are lovely. As for having more than one--I consider it a necessity to have 3, as a bare minimum. This takes the place of my smoking habit, so I need one to vape, one for the charger, and one as a back-up, to hold me if one of them needs replacing. Besides, they don't cost that much.:D

Yeah three will work, but six is better :D
It's all about the colors!

lol, she probably will need at least 2 more. One to use while the one she is using recharges and one for disasters like loosing one or one falling in the water or something. I have to admit that I couldn't resist and bought one of every color they made at the time (they have added a few new ones since then). Oh and my dog got jealous one day and tried to eat one, other then a few nicks and scratches it still works great.

I've been using my original 3 batteries since last August so I don't know what the longevity is. I get somewhere between 3 to 5 hrs depending on what I'm doing out of the 78mm. Fill the cartos just like any others. How long they last depends on what I put in them. Got one juice that'll take one out in a couple of days while with SI's juice they seem to last forever. The battery and carto ohms seem to be a perfect match. Plenty of vapor and better life than you'd expect out of a cig size.

She's at home a lot, and will probably have easy access to a charger, so a minimum of 2-3 would probably work. But as for me, I vape a lot more now than I ever smoked, have a strong dislike for refilling/recharging during the day, and like to keep at least 4-5 ready to go with cartos attached!

My favorite accessory is my 7-port USB hub with extra USB charging dongles (so I can charge them all at once before I go to bed - this is also when I refill), and I carry my batts around with me in an old 120s cigarette case (fits 78mm batts with cartos attached).

Yup, what they all said. Not too much more I can add. And no "punching." :)

I find the regular 78mm Volt batteries will usually last me 2 to 3 hours of standard use before recharging (ritual, pick it up/put it down, come back after a bit, rinse/repeat). If one vapes the marathon, not putting it down, maybe an hour. The life expectancy is reported at approximately 300 charges. With as many of the batteries as I have, I don't think I'll reach the individual 300 charges per battery any time soon. Oh, and a minimum of 3 batteries on hand, as CatLady and Cindy indicated. Me, I have at least one of each color, in each size. :D

I like just about all the prefilled carts from SI, and I top them off with their liquids as I go for about the aforementioned 8 to 10 fills before needing a new cart.

The X2 is nice, has more power, will last longer between charges and will use either the carts or the clearomizers. It will burn through carts a little faster than normal, but I actually prefer the carts over the clearomizers. I have used both.
