The Walking Dead AMC Series - Official Site - AMC

AMC Upcoming Original Series: The Walking Dead
AMC has greenlit The Walking Dead as a six-episode series based on the comic book written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics. The Walking Dead tells the story of life following a zombie apocalypse. It follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, traveling in search of a safe and secure home. Andrew Lincoln (Love Actually, Teachers, Strike Back) will portray the lead role of Rick Grimes while actor Jon Bernthal (The Pacific, The Ghost Writer) will portray the character Shane, who worked with Rick in the police department before the zombie disaster. Other cast includes Laurie Holden (The Shield), who plays Andrea, one of two sisters who join the survivors of the zombie plague, Steven Yeun as Glenn, an expert scavenger and Sarah Wayne Callies (Prison Break), who plays Rick's wife Lori.
The series is set to premiere in October 2010 during AMC Fearfest, the network's annual blockbuster marathon of thriller and horror films.

Saw it finally a couple nights ago (God bless whoever invented PVR's!)... Loved it!

Okay, that's a bit of an exaggeration. I didn't hate it, and I'm looking forward to more, but I'm still a little leery that it could go pear-shaped if the writers aren't careful. Though I'm totally stoked that there's finally a zombie TV series that seems to have loads of potential!

A friend of mine has read quite a bit ahead in the 'comics' and if they come close to following the storyline... it should be the next best thing since sliced bread! My biggest problem with the pilot was the way he walked past all those guns without even looking twice at them! How can you wake up, walk through a mostly deserted hospital (ignoring the graffiti warnings), past row upon row of shrouded corpses, climb a hill and see A CRASHED MILITARY HELICOPTER with an M-60 hanging out the door and still thinks everything is A-OK... Cleaning out the police station is a thumbs up, passing on all the military hardware laying around is serious mistake in my opinion. But things WILL get better.

I am not sure if you have ever been in a coma or not, but my mom was in one for a bit so I can say for sure that your brain is definitely not operating at full capacity when you wake up.

My condolences for you on your mother being in a coma but it seems that she thankfully came back out of it.
My point was, that he is an officer of the law, trained to see problems with his surroundings and to then find the best solution. Maybe they were trying to convey the lingering effects of the coma with his 'interaction in the park' (trying to keep as many spoilers as possible out of this) but he still passed up military hardware after he had come fully around. There wasn't anything keeping him from returning the hospital after that. You better believe that given the option of an M16 (not my fav for reliability) or a revolver or any handgun for that matter, my choice will be rather simple. Take both :D

who's to say the hospital/passing up weapons scene isn't some thinly veiled attempt to build suspense and eventually the little light bulb will go off and someone will say....Hey! Holy Zombie Jesus......batman....what about all those weapons we left back there...........so now you have at least 3 more episodes trying to go back and retreive them ?
