There's no way I'm the only who vapes in public and gets those strange double takes. Ok this weekend I was at a mud racing event and SO MANY people about broke their neck looking at my mod. I reckon it does look pretty strange to the non-vapers, seeing a guy look like he is smoking a iPod. I use an MVP just for reference. Now let's see if my fellow vapers have similar stories. vape on.

Believe it or not, I met my girlfriend vaping at a friends party . I think everyone's just curious for the most part, more like interested, however you can tell some people have that "what on earth is that wierd thing in his mouth?". Everytime I've been asked about it by someone who's a friend of a friend, or even a stranger ends up saying "that's neat" pretty much, especially when you tell them it's strawberry cheesecake flavored, and a safer alternative to smoking.

~I'll admit I was always that wierd "attention ....." guy though, the guy you may think is...unique but at least you remember him right? Instead of blending in with the flock of sheep . Although I hate hipsters to death, I just use the hipster mentality that "I'm liking it before it's cool, us vapers are trendsetters, and too urban to be understood yet."

If someone gives me the stank face, I'll give it right back, or even shout "It's an electronic cigarette! Not a light-saber!"

Yeah, I always have the thought some old man is going to think I'm atomizing [MODERATED] in public or something. I've had cars look at me in their side mirror as I take a rip and blow a huge cloud, and then they scooch up 3-4 feet right after XD

I had a cop in my house the other day. I was part a group complaint against an abusive man towards his woman. The cop was standing in my kitchen where my lazy Susan table is loaded with vape bait, lol. I was vaping in front of him. He kept looking at me, my vape, the table; over and over. It was quite comical. You could tell he wasn't sure what to make of it all. So I asked him what his thoughts were on vaping. He said, "What's that?" I think he was serious!! So I filled him in and he said, he wasn't sure about the table. He said, he didn't want to ask, lol

I really don’t notice if they do or not, and I don’t care if they do, except once in Portland. Got a look from a woman that reminded me a lot of an angry, outraged wet cat. Couldn’t help it, laughed hysterically and tried desperately to make it look like something my husband had said.

Strange. I've been vaping 2 years this month, and I don't recall getting strange looks using my mods in public. I've had a few people inquire about what was I using, and they were amused and interested in learning about it.

Most people are extremely amazed when they see "smoke" and it smells awesome. Also I am not urban at all I'm from the country and its getting pretty popular round here. It's also kinda interesting with the mod because almost everybody uses EGOs.

This is a good subject and it does several things to us the vaping community, the first thing it does is makes us feel closer together as vapers. If you were to go to a place where you are getting strange looks and another vaper is blowing plumes of vapor, you will be drawn in. So it is a good meet and greet or let me check out your mod conversation. Another thing it does is draws attention from the smokers, they look and wonder but still cannot smell the morning air like you can. Finally it makes a statement "You are not a smoker!". So for all of the strange looks, we are empowered, for all the cool devices we are inspired, and for all of the joy we get out of vaping we have each other!!

Not really a weird look story, but I was walking to Starbucks yesterday (it's about 2 hours on foot away, totally not worth it) and I stopped to sit at a bench near a shopping plaza. Around this area are a lot of bus stops and the like. I was with a friend and I was vaping on an MVP 2 and a K1000, and this guy comes up.
"E-cigarettes, huh?"
"Yeah."
"I don't mean to interrupt you two, but..."
Seriously expected him to go on a rant about how e-cigs are terrible for your health. Then he just asked for bus change, so I gave him a $20 bill. Should cover him for a few weeks.

One time a lady was walking by with her kid and gives me the nastiest look when she saw me blowing clouds. She covered her face as if she was expecting to smell something bad. Then her daughter yells "mmmmm mommy it smells like donuts!"....the woman couldn't hold back her smile. We shared a laugh. It was cute.

I get the exact same thing haha.

Whenever I go round my Sister's my little 5 year old niece is always smelling my vape lol. She loves it. She even tries licking the vape clouds haha.

I get funny looks all the time, especially with my Z Max and MVP. It was annoying at first but I now take it as an opportunity to explain to people what I'm using and I've converted a few people this way.

Was at Costco this week vaping in my friends car and Some guy walked passed me and said "people are out here smoking pot in the parking lot!". I just laughed

That's the only thing I am concerned about while in public. Everyone draws their own conclusions, and I don't wanna have someone getting the wrong idea while I'm in the truck vaping. I'm not worried about anything though I'm not doing anything wrong.

I've had a few people bristle when they think I'm smoking tobacco. It's a good chance to clear things up, and most folks are pleasantly surprised.

Heck, I'm post-ironic. I was doing everything before it was cool. In fact, I was into all the hip stuff before it disappeared, got revived 20 years later, then became cool.

everyone i know is super supportive, my doctor said to me that lots of her patients have gotten off cigs with vaping, shes all for it...

strange stares or not, who cares...we like it!!
