ModWompers what's good today?! I just ordered iPV3-Li V2 165W Temperature Control Mod by Pioneer4you I couldn't wait anymore to try me some Temp Control. Got some nickel to dabble with as well but I'm sure I will have plenty more questions for you guys. vape on Wompers!

I have vape mail coming as well, first in a long time. Finally pulled the trigger on a Derringer/Reomizer 8.0 for my Reo, really excited to give it a try. I am already fond of the way they look on a Reo so if it vapes well I'll be stoked!

New York (no, not the city)
So yesterday I traded my Goliath tank to my buddy for a Kayfun v4. Took it home and broke it down, soaked, cleaned, reassembled, built...worked out a few minor issues (like re-assembling it correctly) and it seems to be good.
Then it stripped out my Sigelei mini's threads. I can force it on there but I doubt that's any good for either piece. The only thing that will go on the mod properly now is the Plume Veil. Kayfun on a Vision Spinner is not exactly aesthetically pleasing...

I was going to suggest one of these but the pin will not float easily, I have one on my Origenny as it has stripped threads.
$3.90 510 Heat Dissipation Heat Sink for Atomizers (2-Pack) - stainless steel / 22mm diameter at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

It's either a Varitube or FDV 510 replacement for mine when that happens.
I do like the smooth Varitube one over the FDV channel version.

It also has a high chance of not heating up correctly. There is a reason for dry firing a coil and squeezing it together, so it heats from the center out.

I never squeeze my coils together while heating them; tried it once, those wraps ended up staying stuck as they were heat-fused. Hated the vape too, much too hot, and when I pulled the wick, it was scorched right there in the middle.

Not everyone likes massive heat.

Sure it is... it's a scepter! I used to put my kayfuns on vv3's, and once put one on an ARO Winder (the slender 900mAh one with the button on the battery instead of one of those ugly collars).

But you definitely have to lay it down; stand it up and the next time you look at it hard, it falls over.

My Ti wire came in today. It was apparently on the wrong USPS truck yesterday, or something like that. So I wrapped up about 6 1/2 turns on 26g Ti and put it in an STM RBA on the Evic VT and fired it up.

Full film at 11, with eye witness reporting...

Was vaping my IPV4 with the mutation X clone on it with the twisted 29 kanthal coil at 100 watts and the batteries died, so put in a fresh pair. To conserve battery life I decided to turn it down. At 80 watts still had great flavor and clouds, but at 60 watts the vape flavor became much sweeter. At 80 and 100 the vape was great but at 60 a real sweetness flavor came shinning thru on the vape. The slight muted dull taste of when the coils are about dry was more pronounced at 60 watts too. Learn something new every day!

The hazmat team just left, and I'm vaping on TC. I think. I have a really nice vape going at 320F. And no matter how long I pull, I never get a blast of flaming Dragon's Breath, so I guess it works.

I am going to have to order some Ti wire to give it a try and see if I have the same problems I had with the Ni200 wire. I think the problem was from the IPV4's themselves but its worth giving a try.

Sounds like the sigelei uses a softer metal for their 510 threading? The kayfuns use steel, I could see how it would easily strip out threads if cross threaded. Sorry to hear that. Maybe you can fix the sigelei with something like a fat daddy low profile 510 connector

And that's really weird too, since the Sigelei Zmax has stainless threads; one would think they knew about the danger of softer metal for threads. Maybe they're trying out the 'planned obsolescence' routine...

There is also the possibility they are both using stainless steel, but of different grades.... Would be a little less likely to strip out, but possible I suppose

Theres threads on here for a 510 repair on the Sigelei and its almost more trouble than its worth. My first Mini I bought when they came out in February is toast. The 510 pin in it was too high so I always had to push down on it to thread my attys in. It ended up getting stripped like a month later, when my KF4 all of a sudden popped off of it while I was driving home. The only atty I could get into it was my Derringer but back in May it finally just wore out to the point the Derringer was popping off it too. Things still in awesome working condition except for the threads. :( Im pretty sure the threads were zinc, not steel. So far the second one I bought in March is still good.

If I get a 510 adapter can I...solder it into the stripped thread?
The 510 Adapter I linked does not have a floating pin, you have to push it up then screw your atty on which pushes it back down making contact. Depending on how handy you are and how much tinker time you have, a FDV or Varitube 510 replacement is a cheap fix for $10 and a little Dremel/Solder work.
