Woohoo!! My Velocity will be here tomorrow :D

Time to make some coils

My son has one. He's got it with quad coils in some crazy build. Its pretty kewl looking.

With his Sig 150 and Cube II (that showed up in the mail for some reason he didn't order one) he asked me which had the bigger cloudz the TFV4 or the Velocity. It wasn't even close, the Velocity walked all over the TFV.

No this is a brick... A buddy has one and it's about 16 oz all loaded up with an Aero tank, battery and juice. :D

I think there was some talk here about comparing the weight of the Evic VT and the VTR -- I think the Evic is about 13oz, so it's close, but not a full pound.

If the SX's weight is just slightly more than the CF4, I could handle it, especially at a similar size -- the Evic wasn't just heavy, but also very large, quite unwieldy even in my rather large (for a woman) hands.

One thing that helps a lot for me is the Achilles; that titanium is so extremely light, it adds hardly anything to the total weight. Right here in front of me, I have a CF4 (sorta heavy) with an Achilles, and an iStick30 (very light) with an IBtanked 22mm XL cartotank on it, and the weights are very close; the CF4+Achilles is just a hair heavier, but not much at all.

I been doing research for you this afternoon.

Got a STM with 1.6Ω build on it. 15w. Built with the P-thingie in mind it worked but not awesome. On the SX its a very nice vape. It handles low power very well. Whats that called, buck?? At any rate its very good.

SX is sitting next to the CF in front of me. Size is roughly the same with the SX slightly larger. Weight is close, I don't have a triple-beam handy. Don't a huge differance but the SX is heavier for sure.

That sounds good, about the SX handling lower wattage -- with my Achilles (favorite topper BY FAR!!!), I usually stay around 9w. I also hear good things, both from you and others, about how the SX handles TC, so I could try that out again, and maybe find it more enjoyable than with the Evic-VT. That description of "soft, muddled vape" really nails how the Evic does TC. Not satisfying at all.

Pretty sure I'll end up with an SX Mini M class, but I'll wait till next year, maybe they'll drop under $100. Even $100 is nearly $50 more than I've spent on any mod so far, but maybe for my 2yr no-smoke-a-versary. :D

I'm the one who paid 139$ for my SX. Beyond Vape does not have this price online but I wonder if you called the store on 31st St Midtown Manhattan and asked if they's ship one they may.

I'm cheap. To cheap sometimes. I buy cheap modz. I broke down and bought a Provari for 75 bucks and it wasn't worth half that. I really wish I hadn't of bought it at all which strengthened my belief that expensive mods aren't worth it. It truly can't do anything your CF can and the CF can do alot it can't.

But the SX really is worth the money. Now that the price is coming down its a steal. I should have bought it before. Its not cheap but its not like a million dollars either.

I'm cheap too -- I want value for my money, since I don't have a lot of money. To me, the value is kinda irrelevant if i don't have that much money -- like a BMW -- I'd buy one in a heartbeat if I ever got those 6 lucky numbers; till then, I'm happy with Chevys; a Silverado is a terrific value.

I'm really happy with my 3 CF4s, so I'm perfectly content to wait, and see how far the prices on the SX's may drop in 2016.

These fused Clapton are interesting to wrap..

Nice Work!

Now you need to make a Staggered Fused Clapton.
If you wind two strands on the core wire then take one wire off, it will leave you perfect spacing for joining the two Claptons.

Or as one of our Coil Masters does around here, Clapton half the length of a single core, then evenly stretch the wrap out to the end. Fold the spaced Clapton core in half and wrap the staple wire on it in the gaps.

I have a bunch of foot long pieces of every fancy wire possible my son makes me.

I find these fancy wires do offer advantages over regular wire. So people who say they are better will get no arguement from me.

However...................

The law of diminishing returns kicks in. Round wire works for me.

I agree. I like making the miniature versions of coil art but just for the challenge. I find there are only two exotic coils that offer anything different (in a positive way) from a regular coil with proper geometry, the Clapton and the pancake (stovetop).
