Also, may I make a suggestion on cutting out the window, find a forstner bit the right size that will only show the text of the chip, it will be a clean cut. Another wards, make the window circle lol .

It's a cheapy 18650 battery holder I got off ebay, almost exactly like this one, except I got rid of the wires and soldered the board wires to it:
$_12.JPG

This is most def the problem, I bought 10 of these for dna30 builds and everyone of them are now in the garbage, dna30 board would reset as I was firing anything over 20 watts with these. I now use keystone holders like suggested here already. Make this change and I bet your issues will go away.

So we're at 50 watts! Can we expect anything else? I know it would be additional icing on the cake ; ) !!!!

I definitely hope we still get updates

Should be more on bugs fix

Answers to some questions and a little update info:

As for upgrades to the 50W questions above:

They're looking at possibilities now. Nothing certain but definitely testing some stuff. Confirmed in recent discussions. They're not stopping with the current version as they want to keep it moving when they do release the 100W which will be called the V100 as the next chip.

That battery holder pictured with the spring contact.....not only will it give you the check batt but if you watch the spring its possible for it that it may be heating to a glowing red temp. bad bad bad holders for this application.

New News!:
The 100W V100 already mentioned is still moving forward. The good news is that the 100W will likely be available to the masses....if you recall they initially indicated only large quantities to bigger companies.....I recently got the impression they will let it go to the DIY market as well now gang. Remember its a different chip, same footprint, 7.4v, more battery space required in box. No word on pricing but it will be higher the 50W but they are very cost conscious at the same time so we'll see what they do. We'll see if they change their minds again but lets keep our fingers crossed.

On my own reports I hit the over temp warning wait 6,5,4...sec. This was a short chain vaping session at 37.8W on a 0.2ohm Tug Boat build. Has only happened once. I think its a good feature.

Happy 4th to everyone here in the states! Please be safe!

Yeah...I have some of those keystones on order :)

Ok, so we are all in agreement that those battery holders are crap lol

Would it be possible to just pull the old contact out of it and replace them with the flat metal springy type contacts (similar to keystone contacts) and just salvage that holder? I'm really trying to avoid cutting out that epoxied holder.

Thanks for all the help guys, you are all awesome!!!

Update to update lol.....I just said they would continue to work on the 50W Sx350...well....we may be hearing about it going to 80W apparently :) Stay tuned peeps......we just blew up a bunch of fireworks here for the 4th and I had that message awaiting when I logged in....if they can do it hows that for excitement! lol. And then the V100 may eventually go to 200W! holy cow

With all this expect a lowering of minimum atty resistance.....I suggested they drop it to 0.1 if they could do it safely and that was part of the message they left me. Expect an official announcement soon from them is what they said. We shall see I suppose!

So all that are rocking a 30amp battery better look for bigger amp. I already did before this message. lol

Start looking now DF! :)

I have some clarity:

The next upgrade will be 80W and 0.1ohm. They have made a decision to skip the 100W V100 and focus on the Sx350. But...since we all saw the V100 video go to 109W guess what? Later this fall they will just release it as a 200W chip..maybe call it the V200.

So now there will be a big gap which makes complete sense. The V100 would only serve to threaten the Sx350 as it exists and we had a number of discusisions about that concern. If they can squeeze more out of it then its a no brainer and then make the next chip a completely different product with no overlap.

The Sx350 has proven to be quite a product and popularity continues to grow. This will only solidify and help to continue that growth. This is the type of move you never see from a Chinese company. Patience and market awareness. I applaud the move.

There you have it gang! Should be accurate info.

I will get my second chip from you Monday. If they make the chip 80w I'm set. 200 watts is crazy. lol I will pass. Might as well plug straight to the 110 outlet and be done with it all. lol. I know that's only my opinion but can't see 200w being useful. To some it will be look what I got. lol I built a raptor and let me tell you it cooks. Almost to hot for me to enjoy. Anyways let's wait and see what happens.

I ordered a 1x #NC6400.1S2P.9/51841 Turnigy nano-tech Ultimate 6400mah 1S2P 90C Hardcase Lipo Pack. This will be for my second chip.
1590g box for that battery.
Took me a while to figure out what I wanted. I'm going to be out of the radio shack box soon. lol

My 1590a will have a 26650 battery that can handle 45a continuous. 3600mah. If you want the link to that battery let me know.

With the upgrade to 80 watts and an ohm limit of .1 will the existing wires on the SX350 chip be large enough or would there be a need to increase the wire size? If the existing wires are ok, would it still be a good idea to use larger wires for any that we have to add while building?
80 watts with a .1 ohm coil is going to pull a little over 28 amps.

This is from a rc website and using Silicone Rubber High strand count wire.

13AWG Wire
100+ amps

14AWG Wire
50-75+ amps

16AWG Wire
25-74 amps

18AWG Wire
up to 25 amp

20AWG Wire
up To 20 amp

22AWG Wire
up to 10 amp

Apologies for hi jacking the thread, I have a few SX 350 mods one I have damaged the micro usb socket while it was charging.

The status led would be active if I pushed the cable up or down while the usb cable was inserted. The unit was a prebuilt mod with hot glue and epoxy.
I managed to get the usb board out with no visible damage, I checked under a magnifier if the usb socket soldered legs to the board had be fractured all appeared to be ok.

The board appears to be dead with no status led at all on inserting the cable.

Does anyone have any info on the board I am guessing there has been no component failure but due to the nature of my carelessness I suspect fractured joints. Given the board is not a straight usb charge board as it carries data does anyone know of a replacement or a schematic to fault find the board.

I have ordered a hot air rework unit to remove the socket clean, de flux and resolder.

Cheers

I don't know if there are usb replacements available as of yet for the SX350, but I'm curious to hear the results of your endeavor. Please post if re-soldering the usb contacts resolves the problem. Cheers...

Dont know if this helps you ts the problem. I would plug in your charger and see if your getting -+5v out of the mini usb if not then check the back of the jack. Its standard usb you can google the pinout. You will have 2 wires for power and 2 for data. Chances are that the socket is damaged if you tried to rip it off your mod with the charger attach. Then I would point to point trace the lines on the pcb with my ohm meter see if any are open. Look for any frosty looking solder joints. Lifted smd legs. Cracked in half components or traces that are cracked are common faults in circuits.
Good luck
let us know what you find....

Ok, just because they upgrade it to 80w does not mean you have to find a bigger battery. I mean really, who here vapes over 20 watts? So my point is, build your mod around your level of vape. I would suggest dual sony vtc 4 or 5 and you will be ok or the purple enfests from www.varitube.com
