Someone asked for specs for 100W

That was me, thanks. Do you know if this one is able to fire above 1 ohm at 50+ watts? Specifically, I'm wanting to run around 0.8 ohm at 80w minimum, higher wattages if possible.

don't know enough yet and my boards are stuck in customs. I'll ask the question though.

wow that's the first aluminum box type enclosure I've seen that I really like... that would probably make a sweet bottom feeder mod. never ordered from fastech before, not much interest in clones but this box looks great... hell even as it is designed for 3 18650's as a power source it looks like a sweet little thing... I got to pick up a few of these and play :)

OT, but if anyone wants to see an "up close and personal" with the Ruinovo case, see my build here.....

It's for a DNA30, but you will get the idea........

Anyone else having problems with firmware 20140813 v 2.4 where it keeps going into lock mode and it won't fire or is it just me.I had 20140808 v2.3 installed and had no problems with that version might have to downgrade.

Now that you mention it, yes. I thought it may have been my fire switch but can't confirm until I replace the current one.

Well finally got everything migrated into a new enclosure. It's not perfect but it sure beats having it in a Hammond. The red box is a Hana style mods enclosure from Fasttech with single 18650 & DNA 30. The black one is a Ruinovo battery bank from Fasttech, Installed with dual 18650's and the SX350. It's an extremely tight fit and I wouldn't recommend anyone use it as there is a lot of grinding and filing.

Huge respect Vlad! It was hard enough fitting a DNA30 in there! I would love to see build photos of how you managed to jam the SX in there..........

Thanks, Sorry no build photos taken. I was to busy grinding, filing, sanding, massaging the innards to make room :) The nice thing about the SX350 is no need for the extra two switches that the DNA requires so that saved some room. Even though if someone wanted to put a couple small tact type switches similar to the BB switches there is room at the bottom of the board to do so. Basically I took the USB connector end and threw it away, made a new top piece out of some old prototyping board I had laying around and embedded the negative connection into it and going through the other side for negative connectivity to the 510. That also gave me about 1/2 in on top to use the existing USB opening and built-in switch button and for the FDV 510 to drop down inside. I did have to lengthen the USB wires as they're on the bottom of the SX350 and needed to go all the way to the top opposite corner. Then positioned the USB board and fire switch and secured them via JB Weld to the prototype board. For the positive connector I just removed one of the springs from the positive pcb that came with it and soldered the Vin + of the SX350 directly to it. Then took one of the end cap pieces and used it as a template on some .080 aluminum sheeting I had laying around from an old race kart project to make a new bottom end. Cut some acrylic sheeting to size for the display and used VHT to tint it for a nice flush mount exterior look.

I had asked on "the other forum" if the SX350 would fit and was told it wouldn't, at least in the location I had asked about. I guess I'm hard headed and just had to prove it to myself or not:D

And kudos to you as the idea of using this box for the SX350 was a result your excellent written guide on the DNA 30 build and some guides mamu had written.

I've been trying different devices today and have run into a problem that I can't figure out.

I started using a Tugboat, with a .5ohm, dual coil at 20 watts. I was able to run it up to 25 watts but then the chip shut down on me. I had to disconnect the battery to get it back up. Tried it again and the same thing happened to me.

Then I tried using a Vulcan, dual coils at .7 ohms. I started at 15 watts and was able to get it to fire up to 24 watts. But as soon as I ran it up to 25 watts, same thing. Chip shut down on me and I had to disconnect the battery again to get it back up.

I checked the voltage on my battery, the chip said I had 4.0 volts. My volt meter says I have 4.01 volts at the battery, so the chip is reading it also exactly.

I just tried using a kayfun, with a 1.0 ohm coil on it and the same thing happened. Worked fine up to 25 watts and then it shut down again.

Any ideas or suggestions?

What battery are you using in your mod?
What firmware ver?
Are you using a battery holder with a spring in it?

I'm using a Lipo battery pack:Li-Ion 18650 3.7V 4400 mAh Rechargeable Battery module with PCB that I got from Amazon.
the firmware version is 2.4 and no battery spring, it's straight wired to the positive side of the board and the negative is soldered to the negative side of the 510 connection.

So I have 10 chips to upgrade to the 60 w. Just got them a week ago (they are the right wire size) I am a bit apprehensive. I am hearing a lot of stories about bugs with that version. Anyone care to share their experiences?

Only bug I've seen is weird resistance/voltage output readings vs the wattage setting. For example, right now mine shows 0.7 ohms/7.29v/60w, but that power level is actually on par with a 0.88 build.

Thanks. I have heard people saying its locking on its own other wierd things. Of course these are just things that could be affected by external things. I also heard about screens going blank. loose ribbons things like that.

1st batch of 100W will have a charging board included for no charge. After that they will start charging for them. This board will need to be soldered directly to the battery and not the board. A wall adapter is not included but they did source them finally for the future. But we'll need to figure out where to get them and the polarity for now I suppose. Going forward though it will be a bit ala cart....Charging board (yes/No), Adapter (Yes/No) with upcharges for them.

Our boards finally started moving...not sure everyone was aware but there was quite a scandal over there with a jewelry company and smuggling and they shut down everything in China customs and so they are finally catching up.....some say the iPhone 6 shipments also caused major issues....who knows :) Hope to have our shipment end of this week though!
