thesafecig.com was good at first. Now, not so much.

I have been using e-cigs for a little over two months. I started out with a unit that I bought at my local Smoker Friendly store. The Smoker Friendly unit was kind of poorly made, and the cartomizers were kind of expensive. $20 for four cartomizers. And their starter kit was $70. I was not really impressed. I had read all across the internet about thesafecig being one of the better suppliers so I decided to give them a try. I didn't order their starter kit which is right at $90 bucks. I ordered a battery, usb charger, and a pack of their 18mg classic tobacco refills. It was right at $60. I live in central Nebraska and they ship from Los Angeles Ca. and I couldn't believe that I got the shipment in three days. Well, I placed another order two weeks ago for refill cartomizers and still not here. I have sent them numerous e-mails, and not a single response. I tried calling them for a tracking number, and of course I got their "order" line and the gal on the phone puts me on hold for about 5 minutes and comes back on and says there is nothing that she can do. I have to send them an e-mail. I politely told her that I have sent them about 10 e-mails and all I want is a tracking number. She says she can't help me and that was that. If they don't fix this with me and make it right, I will smear their name across the internet as much as I can. The unit I bought at Smoker Friendly actually works better than the one from thesafecig. The battery charges faster, lasts longer, and you get a better hit off of their cartomizers. They just taste like crap. And are way too expensive. But the SF unit is looking pretty good compared to thesafecigs unit and their customer service right about now.
I am usually pretty even tempered, but something just doesn't seem right.
What experience has anybody else had with them?

I am new here also. I narrowed my choice of e cig to the safecig until I came here. From all I read I just ordered the Joye ego and couldn't be happier. I only received it yesterday but I am truly amazed at how well this works. Started yesterday afternoon and am still on the same battery!! I do have a spare that is charged. This is a well made unit compared to what I have looked and tried in the past. I would read more here. The kit I bought was $69.99 at cignot and you get 2 batteries, 5 cartridges, two automizer with cover, usb and wall charger and a black sack. YOu have a choice of manual or auto and several colors, they even allow you to mix them up. They also allow another spare battery with this kit for an additional $16.99. The beginning cost is a bit but I really am happy with it. Good luck!

No experience with them but, as the spouse of a long haul truck driver and, a part time dispatcher, I can tell you that 4th morning from Los Angeles, California to New York City is expected and doable for a truck. Nebraska is 2- 3 days depending on if you are over by North Platte or closer to Lincoln, Omaha area. So I would expect max 4th day delivery on orders, allowing time for packing and postal sorting.

If it takes any longer, I would raise a stink and, take it as high up thier corperate ladder as I had to until it was resolved to my satisfaction - fixing problems is what good pr and CS (Public relations and customer service) is all about.

Thanks for the info. I thought I would give an update. I was having e-mail problems with Charter and wasn't getting all of my e-mails. They claim that they have been sending me e-mails but I have my doubts. To make matters worse, the battery is not what they claim. On their website they claim that it will hold a charge 5-7 hours. I am lucky if I get 2 hours or less out of a full charge. So I e-mailed them and (at least they are responding back within a few hours now) they said quote:
On average The Safe Cig’s battery will last about 4 hours on a full charge. This will also vary from user to user. Some heavy users may only get 2 to 3 hours of battery life. It is always wise to have a few extra batteries on hand in case you run out of power. Please feel free to use the promo code GOSAFE to save 5% off your next order of a battery. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact us again.
My e-mail to them was quote:
I got some bad news about the new battery that I got. It will only hold a charge for about two hours, or less, then it takes about two hours to charge back up. There has to be something wrong with it because I am not really using it that heavy, and it hasn't been abused in any way shape or form. Actually I try to be very gentle with them. I have a case for all the parts and everything.
I would like to have a spare battery, so maybe we could work something out where I could buy a new battery at half price or something and keep this one as a backup. If not then I will need to exchange this one out for a new one. Beings I don't have a spare, can you send out the replacement and then I could send the other one back? Or would you rather me keep the one I have as a spare and maybe buy a new one at half price or work something out? Please let me know what you would like me to do.

Here is what their website says about their batteries:
Each rechargeable Safe CigTM Battery is tested and is about 80% charged when you receive it. It is the white part of The Safe CigTM with a LED indicator tip, with approximate use of about 7 smoking hours before needed to be recharged. It is always good to have extra batteries handy.

$29.95 for one

So much for their 30 day satisfaction guarantee. I am becoming more leery of this company all of the time.
BTW, I have one of the owners of the companies cell phone number. I got it off of D&B's website. If anybody wants it PM me. I tried calling it and Robert Deak answered the phone so I know its one of the owners of thesafecig.
If I have to I will take it up with him.
Here is the info from D&B's website:

I bought my first and all susequent kits and hardware form ESmokestop.com. I like the Trilogy they sell, now I will say the prefilled carts are too mild a flavor and offer almost no TH, but they are also easy to refill with the juice of your choice and, at 24.99 for 50 ans 80.00 for a two cig kit, it is a good place to get them.

The batteries charche in 20 mins or so, last 5-7 hours with noirmal or 2-3 on heavy use, with refiling it provides good vapor and good TH (That's juice based so don't expect it from the prefilleds. It looks and feels like an analog (considered a super mini) it has a self cleaning feature so minimizes your cleaning. It's USB and can be charged at the wall with an adaptor (included in kit), on a computer, in the car, or in any USB port on any device that offers the power to charge it (incliding a mini netbook on battery only)

I was a 3 PAD smoker, 4 if I stayed up all nigh or close to it. Once i got my juice and refilled myself, I dropped analogs and never looked back, no withdrawls, no regrets, no even wanting an analog - that easy because I found the setup that is perfect for me - it looks, feels, tastes and acts right and, worke when i want it to, no argumnets, no hassles, just right.

I have since orders 3 more kits as well as spare parts, cases etc... 13 months anf still loving my Trilogy :)

I may as well just enter the support dilemma as their emails don't go thru. (not that I expect a reply!).
DearSirs,
After doing much research, I'd decided to go with Safe Cig. I phoned in, as I had questions prior to placing an order for individual items before starting in with an entire kit as I did not need a USB charger, etc. First I spoke with operator 1644 who was not even able to add up the order. Then I spoke with Joyce at length and she'd answered all pertinent questions. When it came down to finalizing it, she said they were out of wall chargers and perhaps they could take one from a kit. She said she will email (main office?) and ask & they will call me back shortly. No call, no email. I called late yesterday & spoke to a gentleman who gave her the message, as she obviously would not take my call & she said she would call me "first thing this morning". No call. Just now I called yet again & asked for a manager & spoke with Joseph # 12084 who just kept repeating that c/s was the only department that could decide if a charger can be taken from a kit for this order. He refused to help but kept saying to email. I have done the research, I am a smoker & am also in c/s as a living. If I had treated ANY customer or potential customer such as this, I'd be out on my .... (no pun intended) in 5 minutes. You are dealing with addicted smokers here & psychologically, is not a healthy way to treat them. (they as well go & work for Ebay if that's the consideration we receive). I am extremely upset, as I am ready to go with Green Smoke at this point. I'd even offered to buy a USB charger & return, etc. it when the wall chargers are in. I really would appreciate a call back as soon as possible, as I had wanted this order to be shipped yesterday or today. If you don't need the business & repeat business, fine. My phone # is XXXXXXX.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I must place an order SOMEWHERE by the end of the day. I live in NY and I have been paying over 500$ a month for cigarettes, which is utterly insane.
Thanks in anticipation of your prompt response.
Sincerely,
XXXXXX

Am NOT expecting a reply & if THIS is how their c/s is run NOW, I cannot even imagine how they'll remain in business...especially after I'M done with them! I'm usually pretty good at this %^&* 99.9% of the time and this is one half-a**ed "company"...reviews or no reviews. I DO NOT suggest buying from them at ALL! I may as well go with Green Smoke as I'd first intended, but did NOT want to spend almost double the $$ just to TRY e-cigs. My emails came back, there is no support ticket (not a valid site when I click on it) and they probably have a 3 man office going on there. I's lived in LA for decades and am going to check for an address and send someone over there to check this situation...granted if it's in a decent neighborhood!

Good luck!

I ordered the safe cig as my first PV. I then came upon this site and immediately contacted them to return it. I had used it for about a week an a half and they processed a 75% discount if I remember correctly. It was pretty painless and I was overall very satisfied with their customer support. Their product and pricing however SUCKED!

Sorry you got scalped by the rebranders first. Here we buy the models by their original names, pay under $20 for batteries, pay about $8 for 5 filled or blank cartos, etc. All standard e-cigarettes are made by a handful of Chinese manufacturers. Some are good and some are bad. But there are a number of good shops that sell the good ones for a reasonable price under their original model numbers and names. There are also some reputable rebranders. So learn about the good ones and buy it at a good price.

Even though you are not a newbie, I recommend the following in the sticky threads at the top of New members forum:
1. Newbie videos
2. Thread with "Library" in its title (leads to a multipart illustrated guide)

Since superminis in general have few decent models and are unlikely to satisfy most smokers, minis or larger are recommended. A mini is the shape of a cigarette, about the length of a 100 or 120, and usually a bit fatter. You see popular minis and others in the multipart guide (note - the Blu is shown as one supermini but for sentimental reasons - many are not satisfied with any supermini including Blu)

I did a lot of looking before I bought the Safe Cig. True, some of it was hype. I will have to say that to this point, I have been very happy with the unit. A lot of what I have seen is that people tend to get a lower nicotine value than they really need. If your content is to low, you will hit it more often. I generally hit mine about 4 times then lay it down for about 30 min. I use the 24mg Carts. I can make an 8 hour shift at work on 1 battery that is fully charged. My only beef with the system is having to buy thier carts for $12.50 per 5. Still a lot cheaper than a pack of smokes but seems to high. I want a way to refill them and use differant juices. I have now ordered 6 times from them and every one has arrived in three days by mail. Unbelievable. So I can't comment on bad service. Just wish it was refillable.

My fist e-cig was also a safecig. The prefilled cartomizers are a rip and the flavors are kinda nasty. The cartomizer model number is RN4081 and is available unfilled (fill it yourself with whatever you like) for under 10 bucks per 5 pack. Just be carefull not to fill them too much or the liquid will drip through the hole into the battery and fry it. Also you CAN reuse, refill the ecig cartos.I used a small wood screw, hand tightened it into the white plastic plug and simply pulled it out. It's not threaded,it's just a push-in plug.Nothing inside will pop out at you. Then fill it until the white filler material is saturated. Make sure it's not so full that it's leaking through into the battery. If it's wet on the battery side, dry it so you don't short the battery. Then simply push the plug back in. Can you tell that I have shorted a baterry??? LOL...Yup. These RN8041 cartos are actually quite good.I have an eGo-T also and with the right liquid these cartos are comparable. P.S. If you order the RN4081 cartos make sure you order the CARTOMIZERS not the CARTRIGES. Cartriges have no atomizer built in!!!!!!!! P.P.S. Don't try to fill the cartomizer with the battery attached!! Unscrew it so you can see if it's overfilled. Now it's obvious that I've fried a battery.

Thought I'd chime in here. I received my safecig last Wednesday. Love vaping and it's cutting way down on my analog smoking. Safecig is out of most cartridges and was suppose to start shipping again on 02/12/11. They claim the delay was due to "maintenance". They're still out and over this past weekend appear to have shut down there Facebook page completely after folks started getting vocal about the lack of carts. Something fishy is going on. Be careful if you decide to deal with these folks.

Safe cig shud down the FB page because of me, i told people that the RN 4801 cartomizer fits the safe cig, and that i was told that it is made in the same factory as the safe cig one, people where frustrated because it's been nearly 2 weeks without being able to purchase the popular refills.
Safe Cig $12.50 for 5
Az Smokes $6.50 for 5 rn4801's
Half price for the same cartomizer!!!
Some people say the safe cig cap is glued, no it's not, refill their carts or buy blank rn 4801's.
