I started a thread last week where my card number was also stolen and someone attemped (unsuccessfully) to make a $569 purchase on it. I did not mention the site even though all indications pointed to one supplier since I had only used the card on that site in the last 12 days. Now that you mentioned these two sites, I have to chime in. The site I used the card on was ecigexpress.

I sent them an email about what happened and all the details and they replied that it could not be them. I definitely "beg to differ" after reading your post.

WELL then...LOL.:p. I was just going to send an email to ecigsexpress too...glad I rechecked here, cuz now I won't.
Truly mine could be any number of places, but I did see that darkhood had used ecigsexpress, and I had also read your thread last week, AFTER I'd already placed my order, but then I couldn't find it again....so I posted here.

I would send them an email and mention that several people on ECF have stated it was their site where their number got stolen. Maybe if they start to realize they are getting well deserved bad press on ECF they might do something more that just tell us it can't be them.

I've been hit before...turned out to be a local Taco Bueno......the first time I got hit I went to the bank, they cancelled card and gave me a new one. Used it that day at only one place....the TB.....and sure enough the next day that new card got hit. Went back to the bank, got a new card, and the bank handled the local TB with the police. Several days later there was a new manager and new staff. I don't know anything more than that, so no idea what went down at my local TB.

It can happen anywhere....online....B&M....whatever. The key is to have great fraud protection and support from your bank. Mine is OUTSTANDING! They almost always catch it first and decline the transactions. If I catch it and call, they immediately remove the charges, put the money back in my account and begin an investigation.

It's only happened to me twice....and both times I was never without a card (replaced at the bank) and never without funds in my account. (charges immediately removed)

BOA (credit card) just called me too. No $ was paid. I used ecigsexpress on Apr.1st. - I'll contact them too. But it can happen anytime. Who knows.
BOA has fraud protection, at least the way mine is set up does.

P.S. - Side note of THANKS to darkhood for all the awesome info you post!! :toast:
BOA has a free service called "ShopSafe" where you can get a virtual CC number that's not the one on your card but is attached to your account. When you get this number you can set an upper limit and an expiration date up to 12 months. You can also cancel this number at any time without affecting your regular CC number or account. It's sort of like you are your own mini-CC company since you control all aspects of this virtual number.

If you are interested go into your BOA CC account and near the bottom on the right you will see "ShopSafe".
Check it out.

I use this feature every time I order online and it's comforting to know that if anyone other than the original vendor tries to use it the charge won't go through and I can just cancel it and move on.

My debit card also got hit last week but no idea which supplier got hacked because I placed orders with about 10 suppliers in March.

Apparently a cupid got my card info. They charged my card for flowers in CA and signed up on Match and Chemistry.com and I got hit with the monthly charges. My bank refunded me and handed over to investigators. From now on I will only use AMEX

So I use a debit card for ecig purchases and only keep $100 or so in there just in case - a couple months ago they got my card and it just happened again today. Last time I was buying from at least 4 diff't places but since I got my new card I've only been buying from 2 sites - aquavapor and ecigsexpress - so just a heads up, one of these 2 sites is using a processor that's most likely continually being hacked - I've been buying from these sites the whole time so now I'm positive it's one of the 2. Time to switch to paypal only. LF will be getting all of my business from now on.

Ask aquavapor and ecigsexpress who their CC processor is. I've been hit 3 times in 2 years and right now I suspect a particular CC processor but I don't know for sure. I haven't used either of those two online vendors yet. I'd like to know who they use as a CC processor. It would be helpful to see if there is a common CC processor involved with the CC fraud.
