Glad every one gets such a good reaction but here in Long Island NY things are different and more neurotic. Now their banned here so there nothing I can say to people to change their minds. To them ecigs are real cigs.I try not to use it in public any more.
They would just have to kick me out and lose my business ... banned what a joke. I'm vaping everywhere. I do try and be discreet but I really don't even think about it anymore. Sure I still get the 1 or 2 people that ask questions which I am happy answer and instead of sending them off to some vendor, I send them here to this community. I am sick of the question "So when are you going to quit that?," I give them the same answer every time "Not thinking about it. Loved smoking, now I love vaping and it is not killing me. If it bores me I'll quit."

Yeah, my grandmother is already asking me the same thing. She's like "Well you shouldn't have to use that thing for more than 3 months in order to quit, right?". I've planned on using it much much longer than 3 months, so I'm not sure why people expect it to be a very short term thing. =/

Because they have bought into the paradigm that the purpose of "nicotine replacement" is to wean you off nicotine. The may have heard that the so-called NRT products are intended for short-term use. They probably also have bought into the "guilt by association" idea that nicotine is harmful.

I'm trying to think of a simple, respectful way of giving Grandma the information. Maybe something like this?

"Oh, no Grandma. It didn't take me three months to quit. I was able to stop smoking tobacco right away. Now I want to stay off tobacco. I think that's better for me, don't you?"

That's a very good way to put it! I like that suggestion a lot. Especially in the week that I have had it, I haven't had a single analog! So yes, I did quit smoking right away!

That's an excellent story, I hope that most people feel the way that we do, and I think that they do. I see a lot of people here that are more than willing to explain over and over to everyone what a PV is, and I think that it's great.

Please don't anyone ever get tired of explaining to people, we need all of the understanding and exposure that we can get! I know that some of you who have probably been vaping for a while may be a little tired of the same "yadda yadda" that you have to do, but it really helps us all that you keep doing it!

It can get really tiresome though. Sometimes I just want to have a drink and a normal conversation, but since it seems like I'm the only person in town with one so far, everyone wants to hear about it. The most tiresome thing I get though is "Can you put anything else in it?" *wink wink*. Ugh. I still go through the whole shpiel though. I'm considering just printing up some cards with sites like this for people to get their own info. I just can't do it anymore.

Me too! I'm so sick of explaining and answering questions! (I know thats not what alot of you wanna hear) It gets so old, and repetative and questions questions question. Urg! And the when are you gonna quit using that thing question is driving me bonkers too. I usually say never and people leave it at that, but some of the smokers go on about how its still bad, and yes I said smokers, giving me a lecture while they puff on their tobacco and paper, giving a health lecture to me. Have to look threw my little sample bottles and find the 36mg and just try to ignore lol.

Just wanted to let you know that you are not alone in being tired of it!

Had this happen walking into WalMart didn't think anything about dropping it straight into my purse as I was exhaling... the lady walking toward me looked like she was going to have an apoplectic fit!!! She didn't say anything tho. Think she was trying to figure out if she really saw what she thought she saw. Hope she wasn't on Chantix!!!!

LOL. Chantix. I took that. I had some crazy dreams at night.

Worked though. Got me off analogs. I just ended up going back to them in about 9 months. Wont be an issue this time.

I know that y'all get tired of it, but it helps us all! I don't mind it at all, except for the fact that I get a little nervous when the whole bar is looking at me while I explain or something. I was in a place the other day and like 8 people were listening to me explain it and I was like... wow.

And I'm a very antidrug person, so I always get ...... off when people start talking about "other" ways to use it. :(

Mycide- My sister used Chantix and it worked for her after a short time, but it didn't work for her boyfriend when he tried it. Different strokes for different folks! ;)

Why do people have such a hard time understanding this is a pastime/enjoyment for us?

So it has nicotine in it. Doesn't beer, wine & liquor have alcohol? Don't chocolate and coffee have caffine? Doesn't ice cream have nasty fats and calories, that lead to obiesity, which leads to a multitude of health problems? Is anything from McDonald's good for you??

Yet these are all acceptable vices.

Yes, smoking was invasive to others around us, but vaping isn't.

Just because something is inhaled, doesn't mean it's worse than something you drink or eat.

With the things that you mentioned, everything in moderation really isn't bad for you. You have good points though, people get the wrong impression of everything you mentioned and think that everything is bad when it doesn't necessarily have to be.

So far no problems, and I don't hide it. I get lots of questions and sell a few kits here and there because of it. The only time I had a problem (sort of) is Applebee's the waitress thought I was smoking and came over, then we talked about the product. a J118 I think it was. Anyway, she said she probably still better not let me use it inside but her the waitress and manager each went and bought a kit. Our local starbucks is vaping away thanks to me. They like being able to stay inside and puff and still have their coffee and lattes. Especially since its like 115 degrees here all the time.
