One of the arguments here is that if we where to fund a study it would be look down upon because we are a bias party, but we are the consumers with no affiliation to the commercial aspect of this business. I think that would work in our favor it would be like smokers funding studies into tobacco use (not saying that would go well).
If there are multiple studies needed and some are already in the works then lets add ours to the stack.
Every ban puts a negative mark on ecigs and they are gaining ground, if we wait until we are backed into a corner it could take years of legislative process to get that ground back.
I don't think it's going to happen or it will be drowned out by the anti-nicotine crowd. People believe the craziest things about cigarettes because no one wants to correct the zealots in fear of being labeled pro-smoking, which people equate to kicking babies.
No, none of us as indivuals can throw together enough money to effect future legislation on the E-cig industry.

If the E-cig industry can get enough bucks to bribe (lobby) congress then maybe they can be heard over the big tobacco, big pharma and big health industries. Maybe.
