It's that time of year.........Halloween!!!!

Now is the time to dish the scary things that have happened to you!
We all have had some creepy experiences (no I am not talking about my first marriage) that we can not explain (ok maybe I am talking about my first marriage)...

Mine:

SCREAMING BRIDGE
The ledgend:
Screaming Bridge One night after a high school football game a carload of kids were driving fast on a country road just outside of the park. Coming to a narrow bridge over the Trinity River they met their fate when they did not see another car coming hitting it head on. Both cars erupted into flames and plummeted into the river below. All involved were killed and since then the road has been closed and can only be walked to through the park. Legend has it that if you find the bridge you will see the dates of the occurrence and the names of the deceased glowing as tombstones in the water and if after that you still dare you can sit in the middle of the bridge on the night that it happened and at midnight you will witness a heavy fog coming up from the river as you see headlights approaching from either side of the bridge.

The Facts:
Many times friends and I went to this place, it was a place that people built bonfires and partied as teens do.
You never knew when a party would be going on there and you just kind of made it a regular Friday & Saturday night stop just to see what was going on.
There were a few times when we would head that way and see car lights coming our way just to disapear, now keep in mind that there is a HUGE gap in the highway and gaurd rails on either side where the bridge was out.
One of these nights me and 2 of my friends decided to head out there and see who was there, we turned on the road leading to the bridge and saw a bonfire already going in the distance and it even looked like there were people standing around it, thinking that we would run into some of our other friends there we continued on...as we approached, the bonfire seemed to get smaller ...the closer we got the smaller it got.....I was driving and pretty fearless I might add, but we were starting to get a little creeped out....THEN it happened.....THE FIRE BLINKED OUT!
I put on the brakes, now just yards from where the bridge was out and where the bonfire SHOULD be....We are sitting there just kinda looking, a little freaked out, but not totally...remember this place is known for strange things....then a set of headlights across the washed out bridge come on...that was it!!! WE were outta there!!!!
I threw that car in reverse and drove straight back as fast as I could in reverse until we got to the turn off in the road (about a mile).
I know what your thinking, it was just people on the other side of the bridge, but I tell you the car was NOT there when we got there and where did the bonfire go?

Thats mine, whats yours??????

One year I took to kids trick or treating down our block. On our end the houses were newer and ordinary but as you went toward The Tampa Bay the houses get older and much, much more grand.
We passed a boarded up house that was suposed to be torn down. The owner, and elderly lady had gone to a nursing home for the last year of her life and work stopped when she passed away. The city was waiting for her childern to claim the property.
When we passed by I looked up to see a candle in the the top floor window..one that was centered on the dilapadated entry downstairs. When we passed again on our way home I saw shadows passing the window.
Once home while Mike helped the kiddos go through the haul, I called the police. This place was nowhere for kids to be playing! of course nosy me walked back down there to lookey loo.
The young officer asked if I was the one who reported the tresspassing and I said "sure". He gave me one of those looks you give to crazy old cat ladies (I was in my 20's) and walked me to the front door, I leaned in as he directed me too and looked up where he was pointing the flashlight..there was a gaping hole in the ceiling right in front of the window I saw the candle in (it must have been where the entry chandelier had been). The walls were half distroyed, what I asumed was hardwood floors were gone, The stair case as well as most of the windows and fire place were also gone. The young cop told me the salvagers had already been there..there was no way upstairs. All I could see was the entry and living room.
I know what I saw..but what I saw may not have been what I thought it was!

My mother died of her second brain aneurism. It was totally unexpected, the Dr told us we would have a better chance of getting our first then her getting a second. I was completely devastated, pretty much for months crying myself to sleep. I would burst into tears at work, as I would see mothers and their daughters shopping together all the time.
I generally sleep with my window cracked, cool air flowing over the bed and me.. One night, crying as usual, all of the sudden this warm spot (sort of like when your swimming in a lake and you enter a warm spot feeling) slides over me and without thinking at all I said Hi Mom! It didn’t last very long, a few seconds but I believe she was letting me know she was happy and I could let go. After that I was MUCH better, no more crying myself to sleep, no more bursting into tears!

I never believed in ghosts or the like.. until then!

When I was pregnant with my first child my husband and I were visiting my parents in PEI, Canada. I was about 7 mos along and getting to sleep was becoming more and more difficult. Just as I was drifting off I felt someone poking me and laughing. I recognized the laugh as my uncle's, he had passed away the year before. I told him to knock it off and rolled over to try to go back to sleep. When I saw my aunt the next day (his wife) she said that she had had the strangest dream. She said her husband had crawled into bed with her and snuggled up to her (he wasn't the snuggling type). She had gotten frightened and tried to pull away and he said "relax, I love you, I would never hurt you". She relaxed, went to sleep and said she had the most peaceful night's sleep since he had passed. I guess Uncle Greg was making the rounds that night.

One time when I was in my early teen's abunch of us kids went to one of those hunted house's they put on a halloween, this one we had heard was really scary but we said what the heck it's only make believe, well it was REALLY bad and scared us out of our wits, when we finally got out of it we realized one of the girls that was with us did'nt come out, none of us wanted to go back in there, even the guys but we decided we had to go in and find her, all of us holding on to each other crept back in there and we finally found her crying her eyes out and shaking like a leaf, one of the guys from the hunted house even took off his costume but she still did'nt want to budge, we did finally manage to get her out with the hepl from that guy and I never went to one of those house's again. I'ts funny even though you know something is not real but appears so scary, it kind of becomes real.

Kimmer, for a year after my sister died I dreamed of her every night. Every dream was a different situation but at the end each one ended with me realizing that this normal situation (us having lunch, or meeting at the mall) was NOT normal and she was gone..then I would wake up crying or scared. Then one night I dreamed she came to my house and said goodbye. That was the whole dream and I have never had a scary dream about her in the 23 years since!
I do believe they release us if we can't let go or resolve ourselves to the fact they are gone. I never saw my sisters body and she was creamated a couple days after she died. So for me it just wasn't real.

Aine, yep..the visiting types! But they ususally only get to do that once I think. Grandpa visited me the hour he died. But I never saw him again. I happened to be awake when he looked in my room, my cousins were sleeping in there with me. They in town to visit him in the hospital. The grown ups were confused when I asked where grandpa was..Mom said he was at the hospital of course. Then the phone rang to tell us he has died. That was more then weird! I wish one of my cousins had been awake to see him. But then I don't believe everyone can see them.

jean, a bunch of went to see the Exorsist, we were in our early 20's then. That movie scared us all! We stayed at my apt. until the early hours of the morning..nobody wanted to be alone! In later years I heard the first round of showings had subliminal messages in it to make it scarier...it worked! I was the first and only time I didn't touch my popcorn or drink. That was the movie that caused the movie industry to ban those messages.
