So, I've come to think that one of the things holding back some of my more advanced builds is my drill. It's an older drill that doesn't have a very smooth ramp up time, or speed control so it makes some of the more advanced builds somewhat difficult. Does anyone have any recommendations for a new drill? Something on the budget friendly side with good speed control and a nice chuck? Electrical cord preferred.

i bought a corded Craftsman drill from Sears with most of the proceeds of a $50 gift card i was given.

I'd suggest you go to the store and fiddle with the chucks on a few of them - maybe take a few strands of wire with you to make sure the chuck grabs them and is comfortable to use.

i went against a cordless drill, because i've had one where the batteries discharged and i could not seem to buy them on their own.
