Thinking about upgrading from my ego twist, not sure what to get?

So I just ordered an aerotank, and was thinking about rebuilding coils. I was also considering just getting a kayfun since I'm going to get into building anyway, but I'm not sure yet. I have some ego twist batteries, but was wondering if there was a battery that also works as an ohm meter so I can check the coils and make sure they're okay when I begin to build them.

I really like the feel of a cylindrical battery in my hand, and am not sure if I would like the box mods I've seen. Plus I do like the look of the round batteries more than the boxy ones. I also have pretty small hands, and am worried it'll feel clunky to hold a box since I vape a lot throughout the day. Is it worth it to upgrade to a better battery? Are there any good ones that would be cylindrical and possibly double as a ohm/voltage meter to check my coils? Or should I also invest in a separate ohm meter if I do get into building coils?

I don't have all your answers, but I would start with an IStick. I used egos for a couple of years. The IStick is actually more comfortable in my hand. I have mild arthritis in my wrists and thumb joint and the IStick is actually easier to hold than an ego. I have a couple of MVPs also and they are heavy as was my VAMO 2. My VAMO 5 isn't as bad weight-wise, but I love my IStick.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm more worried about the circumference than the weight. Is there a performance difference between the istick and the vamo 2 or 5?

Thanks for the info. I'll look into it. I like being able to just swap out the coils too, so I'm not sure if I'll get into rebuildables yet either.

One lil thing about rebuilding coils for the Nautilus: there's an internal lining of wicking material, that you may pull out when you pull the old guts. It is possible to replace: use a 3/16 drill bit and a 3/8 socket. Set the bottom of the body into the socket, with the bit down through the top. Rap the bit gently with a hammer: that seperates the 2 pieces of the body, and you can wrap new wicking around the inner piece. Carefully put them together, then use a c clamp to repress them together

I use a c clamp to press fit the chimney back onto the body of my Kanger coils, as well.

Oh... keep notes of what you're building as you go. Makes life MUCH easier (is a habit I picked up reloading)

Sigelei Zmax... Vamo... there's a new SVD 2.0 from Innokin. I'd also recommend the vv3, or maybe the newer version of it, the v4, but it's not cylindrical, though not a box mod either; maybe it could be calld a wand? It's about the same size as an eGo, maybe a bit longer, but it's squared off. the newer v4 has a range of different mAh ratings, I think I saw 800, 1000, and 1200, or something like that. I've really enjoyed my vv3s, and for quite a while when I started rebuilding coils, the vv3 was my only ohm meter. For a larger cylindrical mod, I'd actually recommend the Vamo over the Sigelei for that purpose, because with the Sigelei, you have to press the fire button to see the resistance, which could short it out -- the Vamo, like the iTastes, lets you press something different to read the ohms, so safer.

Yeah I do that... and I have an Omnitester, though I haven't replaced either of the coils in my kayfuns for months, but if I REALLY need to know, I'm covered. Just thought for someone starting off with rebuilding, the sigelei might not be the safest choice -- I had already been building or rebuilding for a month or so when I first got my sigelei, so I was *fairly* competent -- tell you what, after you rebuild those teeny tiny T3S's and protank coils, a kayfun is a snap!

Heh, I saw something like that once, but I think it was even more extreme... how the heck did 2.5 ohms lose 2 ohms in the process of being mounted?!? Only the shadow knows!

The first time I attempted to dry burn a coil, in my original T3S, I was plumb terrified. I got so stressed out i had to pull my eRoll back out of the drawer to hang onto for a while.

Someone else mentioned that one too. I looked into it and it looks good. I only have experience with the twist and wasn't sure what was out there or good for that matter. I'm debating between that and the Vamo.

They're both great mods. The vv3 is only 800mAh, BUT, it has pass-thru mode, you can vape while it's plugged in to charge. The newer version of it, the v4, has a choice of 800-1000-1200 mAh, and still has the pass-thru feature. The Vamo uses removable batteries.

Yes it is worth it and yes they will show you your coil ohms, battery charge, and wattage.

Have a look at the vamo's and svd's.

If your budget can afford the price, i would take a good look at the SVD 2.0. DNA based board with step down for well under $100. Sure you can get more watts for less but probably not with the same quality.

I went from an Ego Twist to an MVP 2.0. Reads ohms. VV and VW options.
It is a good next step IMHO. I like the feel of the box type mod.
You can't go wrong with any of the ones mentioned in this thread. It's all about budget.

I actually changed my mind about box mods and ordered an MVP 2.0. I was under the assumption all box mods would be too big for my small hands, but I looked up the dimensions and was surprised it was so small. I love the battery life and the option to charge things in a pinch if needed. I just got it today, and am still getting used to it. Thanks for all the suggestions, I still wouldn't mind getting an SVD in the future if I have the money for it.

Although the Innokin VV3 is only 800 Mah it uses more sophisticated electronics. I've found it lasts as long
as a 1200mah ego. In addition it has excellent filters and puts out a stable pulse.

For example, if you try to test a ego with a standard tester the PWM confuses it, but the vv3 works perfectly.

For plain Jane Vaping the Innokin vv3 and the Innokin MVP can't be beat.
