So I have been vaping for about a year and a half now which enabled me to kick a pack a day habit. I went from lookalike e-cigs, to ego styles, and now on an APV. I am looking to make the jump to a mech mod. Right now I am looking at getting a hcigar copper Nemesis clone as the mech mod and I am thinking I might do the pre-order for vaping Tech's clone of the Tobh v2 Atty. Any thoughts on this configuration as a first (of most likely many) configuration? Also I would get the real Tobh v2 Atty if they made a copper top cap for it. Any other thoughts on an all copper RDA?

Hi MrKiltYou and welcome to ECF. I don't yet own a mech mod but I am quite convinced that my first one is going to be That same Nemesis clone. I think they look great and I keep seeing great things about them. I did not know there was a Tobh clone. I would love a Tobh but out of my price range right now. So thanks for inadvertently letting me know about the clone. I think the copper is an awesome imo. Sorry I don't have any suggestions on an all copper RDA. Good luck and hope to see you around the forum.

i have an all copper set-up. the Talon by Versa with a patriot on top. got a copper top cap for a taurus RDA which with a little sanding and polishing to the inside fits nice and snug on the patriot. got the cap and a couple of copper drip tips here Vape Tribe i did a matching brush finish to all the pieces and it is a stunning setup. my fav look for my copper mod is the Talon with a tiger bronze raiju and copper short tube tip also by DaTouch...very sexy look. the cool thing is switching toppers up with the vanilla copper mod. got to say i am in love with the copper/bronze/brass/stainless accents .

i just couldn't help posting this..(proud Papa syndrome) 1 more pre ordered (BFM) and my collection will be complete enough i don't HAVE to buy anything, unless it is really sexy of course.:D

sorry guys i still cant quite wrap my head around it, is this right; ego style battries are just PV. then your mvp svd style batterys are an APV and last just the straight foward nemisis and stingrays are a mech mod.... BUT where does that leave the VAMO and LAVA TUBE style VV/VW are they a mech mod or a APV because they are not a solid battery but they have a regulated chipset right?

sorry if thats abit of a noobish question...

I think so...
It's a great choice because:
1. It's low profile...one of the shortest mods out there that takes 18mm batteries.
2. Great looking with lots of material (stainless, brass, copper, etc.) choices.
3. Adjustable air flow.
4. Has all the extensions to use 18350, 18500, 18650, batteries, and you can also Kick any of these battery sizes (including the 18650+kick).

Just keep in mind that the Nemisis style mods don't have a contracting spring in them (short circuit protection)! The battery fits in there as snug as a bug in a rug, so either protect yourself with a regulator, a fuse, and/or only use 18650 batteries with high C ratings (Sony VTC, AW 1600 IMR, MNKE, etc.).

Going with the better high amp batteries should give you the headroom to prevent catastrophic battery failure once you've become experienced and confident with your new mech, but I do recommend at least using a fuse as you get familiar with the device.

I'd personally avoid using the shorter batteries (I.E. 18350) at first. Get to know your perfect atomizer build first, then see about the possibility of matching up safe batteries for your target power. If your dream build turns out to be below around 1.2 Ohm...the shortest battery I personally would even consider without a kick or fuse would be the AW 1100mah 18490.

Which ever battery you select, be aware of something called 'battery over-drain'. You don't want this, as it will damage the battery! Get in a habit of changing them and recharging somewhere between 3v - 3.5v. Never let the battery get below 3v under load.

I got the EHPro EA MOD and I believe it has to be on the top 3 as far as performance and quality. Gold plated brass contacts, floating pin, side fire switch, almost no voltage drop. I am sure others who own this will chime in and back me up. It can hold a kick and is a true value machine.... man I love my ea mod.....

Thank you sounds like all good and solid advice. I was planning on getting ether the IRM 35A or the Sony VTC5 18650 batteries. I don't really plan on running anything smaller then an 18650 as I don't mind the size. Hell I have been lusting after the Dreadnaut by Tactical Workz Mod (which I could use to get my left arm to match my right ).

I am also planning on getting a Kick 2 which should protect me from putting the battery in upside down or over drain.

Quite welcome...just be advised that Kicks might NOT have reverse battery protection. Take the extra time to make sure you put the battery and Kick in the right way, or you risk frying it :)

Yes, it will protect from over-drain, over-heating, and shorting for sure.

I currently Kick or Crown all my tube mods 98% of the time. Well worth the money for me :)

May I make a suggestion here.

Get Button Top batteries, not flat tops.

The Nemesis seems to work better with button tops. It seems that everyone I talk to who complains about the button not working right uses flat top batteries. Just to avoid any potential problems I would suggest button top batteries like the Orbtronic SX30.

Do you happen to know if putting in a Kick 2 effects that ether way?

This is the first thread where I really got into this issue. I've since run into it several more times. Have a read...

.....

I run a Kick2 with the Orbtronic SX30 batteries and I have ZERO problems with the Kick firing and no crunchy button either.

Awesome! Thanks for the heads up!
