I used to step outside to smoke when doing business in my suit and held the cigg away from me, stood facing downwind, anything I could think of so I didn't smell. During my Christmas visit with family, a niece went outside to smoke before bed and when she came back in she reeked of smoke. She stated she didn't want grandma to know she smoked and then went to bed down next to her. I had to chuckle to myself, I didn't have the heart to tell her she wouldn't fool anyone. I never realized how bad I smelled when I smoked. I'm so happy to be free! Thank you V4L!

you might try running white vinegar through your carpet cleaner on the puppy spots. it gets rid of the smell and they aren't so attracted to going in those spots again either.

Thanks for the thought night owl.... We just went ahead and ripped the carpet up the other night :)
It doesn't look half bad. In fact I'm really liking it. It definitely needs to be refinished but looks good now as is. Plus it smells SO much better in here

While we're at it we're going to paint the walls... whoo hoo!!! Quit smoking and a remodel to boot... What a way to start the new year

I've always had a really active sense of smell (and hearing. Compensates for crummy vision, I suppose), and never really thought smoking effected me all that much. Now it's just painful. Three blocks from the grocery store in the icky new neighborhood I moved into I can start to smell the B.O. of the denizens. And walking past the pizza place is just a sensory overload - and not in a good sorta way.

So I definitely feel ya! Fortunately Thor! is fastidiously clean. Cleans himself constantly like a cat. You are what you eat and all that. ;)

Congrats on your sense of smell returning! As for the floor, I have refunished a few of them. If it's not really bad there are some products that you can treat it with just to fill in and bring the shine back. If it needs to be stripped down. You might consider doing it yourself. It's really not that hard. There are some great vids on youtube that will show you what to do and some great tips as well to really help bring your floor back to life.

I love hardwood floors. I have alergies and my wife has athsma so for us it's hard to handle carpeting at all. Well with the 3 cats two dogs and two rabbits it almost makes it a must.

hahaha I know the feeling on that one. I was at work the other day and a co-worker just finished a cigarette. wow he REEKED of cigarette smoke. I never noticed it in the 3 years that I have been working with him before. I was absolutely amazed at how bad they do smell.
